Fantasy Football 2017/18

Should not have captained Kane for Wembley. 34 with Jones Mkhi and Lukaku to play.

Thinking of selling Chicharito but no clue for who. Same with Alli.

72 total.

Thanks to Jones, Mkhitaryan and Lukaku getting me 40 points today and saving my week

73 so far but I think Lukaku and Miki are the top two BP scorers so should finish on 81. Happy enough with that - my defenders scored well for me this week and that last 5 minutes from United helped!

Played my wildcard, scrapped just about my entire team.

This is my team currently:

Elliot
Bertrand, Hegazi, Naughton
Gross, Silva, Alli, Mkhitaryan, Carroll
Kane, Lukaku

Subs: Forster; Rodriguez, Daniels, Rangel.

I have 1 FT and 2.1 in the bank. As you can see, the defence is a sitting duck next GW. Does it make sense to bring in a United defender now? Or should I look elsewhere?

I'd be tempted to get Mendy/Walker for Naughton. Brilliant fixtures ahead and they play quite offensively

Forgot to do my team, ended up with Pogba and Mane. Had my best week of the season. Gotta get Moratta out, he doesnt strike me as someone who is going to get more than one goal a game, amd hes too expensive. Gotta get Aguero back in I think.

Think Jesus over Aguero still. Cheaper and both will score enough points through the season and leaves you with more room for midfield. But I can see the whole world scampering to fulfill rule 1 of FF. Get Kun in and profit.

Finally! My GW score was above the average, I remember this feeling now when I walk into the office

Aguero showing he still a big dog in this game, definitely worth considering for next couple of weeks. I'm still holding onto Kane for next 2 weeks, but after that I'll reconsider. There will 100% be a time this season when Aguero is dropped in the league for CL/Cup football. I'm not sure you can say the same for Lukaku or Kane, they will play pretty much every League game they are fit for.

fecking hate this game. I got a really good points total and jumped into a great position but I made Lukaku Captain but when I checked its alli for some bloody reason :(

Man there's so many bad budget strikers this season... Usually one or two good hidden gems come along but none this year.

So with that in mind:

Trippier & Chris Wood (Burnley) or Chicharito & Charlie Daniels

The second 2, whilst not necessarily better are surely guaranteed more starts?

I didn't join the league before it started like a fool:

  • Overall Points:
    318
  • Overall Rank:
    24,792
Shame as I'm doing very well.

So right, no one good in the 6-7m bracket.

You can still join I think and it will count your overall points? But you know...maybe don't as it will only push me down a spot.

Currently on my wildcard because I've absolutely fecked it in the last few weeks.

Who'd you have to get rid of? I played mine and chucked Kane for Lukaku...saved me nearly £1m. Got in a couple of cheap defenders, meaning I could get rid of Chicharito for Jesus.

Played my WC.

Foster (Elliot)

Jones Monreal Naughton (Mbemba Morgan)

Mkhi Salah Silva Ritchie (Carroll)

Aguero Lukaku Firmino

I can play about with Morgan for Simpson in the Leicester defence or even do Jones> Trippier as I've got £0.5m banked but can't see a reason to at the minute.

I am currently thinking of this:

Elliot / 4.0m

Kolasinac / Davies / Jones / Naughton / Mbemba

Mkhi / Salah / Ritchie / Gross / Carroll

Aguero / Kane / Morata

Thinking now I may bank the 0.1 m profit in Aguero rising tonight and then swap him for Jesus. Would give me 1.3 m to play with e.g. Otamendi for Naughton (City's sweet fixtures) or Ritchie to Fabregas.

What say th' Caf

fecking hell, that's some front three if you can get them all in. Although since you've not got three United players already, you might benefit from putting in Lukaku instead of Kane if you want some extra money since Lukaku's a bit cheaper.

Do you like 1.3m to play with, or do you like your Triple Captain scoring a hattrick?

Yep can get that team with 0.3m in the bank.

I may go for that you know.. Part of me wants to squeeze another wingback in there. I mean Mendy for example is looking likely to outscore Ritchie over the season and certainly over the next few game weeks.

Same with Alonso but he's a bit more expensive.

Don't talk to me about Kun triple captains given last years shambolics!

That midfield though. Carroll is a 2-3 pointer at best. And I don't expect either of Gross/Ritchie to be regular scorers. So if the strikers don't score, it can be difficult.

True, but I think if you are able to nail down a strong strikeforce that is regularly scoring then it's sometimes worth sacrificing midfield/defence to an extent. Especially considering Salah/Mhki are among the best contributors right now.

Kane is the sore thumb. And it's impossible to ignore him right now given 2 away games. :D

The 1-2M freed after swapping him with Lukaku/Jesus opens up so many possibilities.

If Aguero, Kane and Morata all blank then most teams will struggle tbh.

Looking at your team above I don't think you have spread the risk any better - we both have five premium point scorers (Aguero, Kane, Morata, Salah, Mkhi vs Kane, Lukaku, Mkhi, Silva, Alli).

Personally I think my five are more consistent and have a higher points ceiling. I have also invested more in the defence. It seems this season that there is very little value in the mid-priced midfielder bracket so I think it's better to go relatively cheap and then spread funds elsewhere.

Also on Carroll he is probably the best 5th midfielder on the game. If you're spending more than £4.5m on your 5th midfielder you're doing it wrong.

What would be your WC?

Well, I still have 2.1M spare right now. However, that's my concern too. Kane -> Morata/Jesus will free up ~2M which I can put into the midfield. But the way the game is going right now, there are no budget midfielders (I mean like, 7M priced), just like there are no budget strikers. So it all depends on combinations. Plus I have Forster/Elliot in rotation too. :p

My next transfer is pretty clear-cut though. Get in one of Mendy/Walker which gives me access to City's defensive points.

I'm at a total fecking loss at what to do. Really should be using my wildcard this week, but I cannot get a well rounded squad.

My last attempt I had this:
Forster / Elliot
Cedric / Jones / Monreal / Mendy / Naughton
Eriksen / Coutinho / Ritchie / Gross / Obiang
Lukaku / Jesus / Gabbiadini

I'd be very happy with that defence, but the midfield seems a complete gamble and Gabbiadini a punt at best, only put him in there because Saints have a good run of games after we play them this weekend.

I have also toyed around with having 3 £10m+ strikers in the squad, and that does not work at all

Forget Gabbiadini. Saints have had a nice run from the start and he's done feck all. He was dropped last week for Shane Long.

Redirect some of the funds from defence to third striker. I'd replace Monreal with a 4m defender since you have Naughton as the fourth defender already.

Whilst true, you are forgetting that if they all blank and United go on a rampage, Lukaku hat trick etc. Not having the most owned player in the game is going to hurt!

For me, i'm going to wait a couple weeks to see if Aguero is going back to being the hero of FPL. With a few more CL games coming up, I'd be surprised to see both Jesus and Aguero starting in the league.
