Falcao

That's what I'd be hoping for. There's no point playing two forwards anymore and with current 3 option we should be more than fine. Where we're going to be lacking at times is behind the striker - for the wings we're going to have Young, Valencia and Zaha (I expect Nani to move unfortunately) which isn't enough and for the attacking midfielder we'll have only Kagawa. I'd be delighted if we managed to bring one more winger and an attacking midfielder in the mould of Isco. I'm aware this is going to cost a lot and it probably won't happen though.

The other issue would be who to get as well as that price though, I mean already Iosc and Rodriguez are looking to be off elsewhere. As Neville said players of the quality United and other top clubs want are on a short supply list.

I hate this transfer window already. All the big players seem to be going with no controversies or bidding wars to be seen!

According to Guillem Ballague, Monaco will announce Falcao tomorrow

That would be interesting considering Bayern, Madrid, City & Chelsea are supposedly in the market for a top striker. Falcao, Lewandowski & Cavani (maybe Rooney :nervous:) are the only ones I can think of, who are available.

Maybe one of them will turn their attentions to Suarez

Glad he's not going to Chelsea or City but going to Monaco seems like such a waste of his talent.

Excellent signing for Monaco. The champions league is going to be incredibly strong the next few years.

At least there is some competition for PSG. Football teams are becoming the playthings of these billionaires to flaunt their money and power. I wonder if Ranieri gets to keep his job or if they move for Mancini like I have been reading. He is the most overrated manager in Europe for me.

Expand their stadium to the entire size of Monaco and force the entire population to watch their matches and buy their merchandise, so simple really.

Build the stadium on top of a 100,000 room hotel! SIMPLES!

I can't believe what is happening at Monaco. Rich Russians taking over the world and having jokes with their money. Real life football manager.

3 huge signings and very hard to understand. Do they really just want money! I suppose plenty of glamour in Monaco!

Shouldn't be a problem. They ain't exactly paupers down there, from what I hear.

Monaco are beginning to turn into a very intriguing team and I'm sure they aren't done ravaging the transfer market

Moutinho and Rodriguez done, Falcao apparently done tomorrow, Valdes, Nasri, Tevez and Evra on their lists too: That could be some team made in one summer.

Wonder what Platini will say about that?

They aren't an English club, so he'll quietly take this small issue and shuffle it under the rug with his foot whilst whistling away as if nothing happened. I can see FFP really pussying out of this one in a couple of years time when Monaco eventually challenge for a CL spot, I just don't see the point of it. Why would teams like Chelsea and City sign for it to happen when it's clearly against teams like that? Something very uncertain about it, and I don't think they'll do anything about this Monaco buy in.

Apparently, they are looking at 'four or five more' after Falcao.

Who will be the last players to fill out the team? :D

I heard they want Sakho from PSG hes on the bench these days. They won't get Evra unless they make a silly bid.

They'll signing Falcao too....bloody hell. Where is the financial fair play Platini had been talking about?

Even with their tax advantage on wages, they must have virtually zero income from gate receipts, they are not in europe and AFAIK they won't get a lot from the French league TV rights. Do they have some monster sponsorship deals lined to get around FFP?

I don't think they have much income at all. After 2004 they sold their best players and still went under financially, despite the fact that they had a lot of loanees on the cheap. Without a sugar daddy they'd still be a mess in Ligue 2. If the FFP is going to work then I can't imagine Monaco will.

FFP is obviously a farce. I can't believe someone would cover such huge investments without being reasonably convinced that nothing but a few fines will stand on their way.

Does anyone actually believe FFP is going to be too much of a bother for clubs?

I'm more concerned about what this says for modern footballers. A few years ago a team like City couldn't get near the really top players until they'd at least established themselves in Europe, and even then they had to pay the obscene wages, and they still couldn't get the truly world class players. Nowadays it seems like the obscene wages alone are enough, even for the very best.

Arguably the best CF in the world signing for a club who can boast an average attendance of less than 6,000 fans is depressing beyond words.

They've signed top players in the past despite the lack of fans. Klinsmann was brought in during the early '90s when he commanded a similar reputation to Falcao.

Course not.

Platini: Manchester City, Chelsea, they make big efforts, perhaps it’s not enough to be inside financial fair play but it is a big effort because they know that we will take a decision next year.

It seems the clubs just have to pretend they're making an effort to be overlooked. I have no faith that City/Chelsea/PSG will be punished by FFP. City for example are spending mega bucks on an impressive new academy which will be filled with youngsters that their new flavour of the month managers, whoever it is at the time, will never give a chance to, but that seems enough to please UEFA whilst they continue to make losses and still spend big every window.

Monaco is also at a massive advantage due to being in tax haven. They can afford to spend bigger on transfer fees because they can pay a lot less in salaries, top rate tax in France is huge, but Monaco don't have that concern.

I heard they have their eye on Kompany for one of the CB spots.

Doubt they'll get Sakho, he's a true PSG supporter at heart, I don't see why he'd go to what will be PSG's biggest rival in years to come. Sure money could tempt him, but he's not exactly at a poor club at the moment and if he keeps his head down and works, he'll get a starting spot in PSG's team. He's still very young.

Yeah well, a fiscal paradise, next to the see, great climate, huge wages, a project that will get them in the CL by next year most probably... You don't need much more, though I agree the attendance would depress me if I was a football player. They'll be looking forward to all their away games, where there will actually be people watching them in the stadium!

I heard some Italian reporter saying they were interested in Nani, would certainly make sense... Hope it's not true though
