Falcao

We don't have room for him unless we offload someone (cue Rooney rumours). Mind you, we said the same thing when we were being linked with RVP.

Fergie would love to sign him.

That denial along with Fergies are seriously unconcvincing. If you can call it a denial.

Didn't David De Gea also say he had no idea about the United rumours just before he went on duty with Spain? It could well just be him saving face to show he's committed to Athletico until the end of the season. And Ferguson wouldn't announce a transfer until it's sealed, so him denying it doesn't really mean anything.

Still, I have my doubts it will happen at all.

Kagawa also "denied" he was joining us.

I think its pretty clear when we sign people we tell them to deny all knowledge until the deal is completely done and announced.

 ... the fact that both Falcao and Fergie have felt the need to bullshit rumours suggests there is a possible deal in the pipeline.

But who else would talk/deny/bullshit about this deal? Those are the two who are mainly concerned with it.

There's plenty of names United get linked to, but you never see Fergie even bother commenting. Fergie might legitimately be wound up by such a silly rumour but there is a weird vibe about United and the way Rooney is being handled at the moment... somethings up.

Because not everyone who is linked to United is as big as Falcao. Or maybe Fergie was specifically asked about Falcao in his press conference and hence he answered. For example we were linked to Izaguirre and Mandana I think two years ago. But I dont remember Fergie mentioning anything about them, because they arent really someone anyone is concerned with even if they move (no offense to either of them).

True - probably just making a big deal of it, would be such a mind blowing signing though.

Why would he comment on DDG before we signed him, he was hardly a "big" player back then?

He was a huge prospect for a couple of years before we were in for him. He did tremendously well for Athletico since he took over from Asenjo. And also the fee might have played a part in it. I think everyone knew he wouldnt come cheap. That coupled with the fact that we were looking at a 19/20 year old to replace a legend of the game at probably the biggest club in the world. Not many big teams have the balls to do what we did.

Sure no doubt about that, but the guy above is saying that we only come out and deny in the press the big players like Falcao, Ronaldo etc...

Then why would we deny stories of Kagawa, DDG, even berbatov of the past?.

We never ever go to the press and say yes we are signing this player until it is 100% done.

As with every transfer story these days, I'll believe it when he's holding up his new shirt in a picture with the manager.

Colombian legend Faustino Asprilla has revealed that he has told compatriot Radamel Falcao to sign for Manchester United.

The 27-year-old Atletico Madrid striker has been the subject of intense transfer speculation with Chelsea and Manchester City amongst a number of clubs interested.

But former Newcastle forward Asprilla believes the £46million-rated star should head to Old Trafford this summer if he wants to regularly challenge for trophies.

Asprilla said: ‘We were talking and he asked me my opinion on who he should join. He knows that every big club in the world wants him. He is not a player motivated by money - what he wants is somewhere that his family will be happy and where he will have success.

'With teams like Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City they have good times then they have bad times - that is why I told him he must choose Manchester United. Every season they are challenging - and if he wants success that is where I have told him to go.

‘Also they don't have all the behaviour away from the field - with changing coaches every season. They are steady in all that they do - and a well run club at every level. He is a real family guy - and Radamel will appreciate that and the way that Sir Alex Ferguson protects his players like family.'

Asprilla also believes Falcao will be the only player ever to play in the Barclays Premier League who can rival the finishing ability of Alan Shearer.

‘It is difficult for me to explain how good he is - he is the best finisher in the world. The only striker who has played in The Premiership who is on his finishing level is Alan Shearer. If he signs for Manchester United - he would be their missing piece in The Champions League. Robin Van Persie and Radamel would be unstoppable.’

As frustrating as SAF's lack of activity in regards to signing a CM has been over the past few years, you've got to love his hunger for strikers. I wouldn't be surprised if all of this speculated interest was true.

Midfield problem solved:

When did we enlist Agent Asprilla? Clearly Fergie has been so open about Lewandowski because it's a smokescreen. :p

SAF denies Falcao rumours outright first and then openly flirts with Lewandowski rumours without confirming anything. All makes sense now that you put it that way.

And everyone doing the lineups above needs to put Bebe in Midfield. Then we can play 5 strikers without a worry.

This quote sums it all up (and is one more example of how much we'll miss SAF when he finally retires.)
