Fabregas

A waste of time in that we seem to have been chasing a transfer that was never going to happen.

A waste of time in the sense that we could of been negotiating for players we have a chance of signing.

Clubs can have multiple negotiations going on at the same time.

Of course we can multi task. Comments are getting unnecessarily facetious in this thread so I'm out of here.

How can we be told we have 'encouragement' in us signing him, and he will have the 'final say' on whether he moves or not to we give up on signing him within the space of a day?

Match is on Tuesday? Ffs Cina! How are we gonna iron shirts and play a match on the same day. Cop on, man, would ya!
Surely they ironed the shirts today while doing feck all else. Unless they presume to send the boys out in wrinkly shirts Tuesday.

Moyes would do that though, the monster..... Glazers would love the saved ironing cash too. Dark days.

Wait!!! how are the lads going to wear shirts and play football at the same time? We're fecked!

The thing about doing things simultaneously is what happens when two or three deals progress? You suddenly tell others clubs 'you know what, never mind, we don't want him'? That's not a great way of doing business. If you go in for a player, any deals for an alternative must be kept partly on hold.

That's true but you can establish if other clubs would be willing to sell certain players, or if they'd be willing to come, or if you there's ones like Fellaini where there may be a release clause. Personally would say if there was any chance of getting Fabregas or a player of his quality, even if it was remote, it's worth the risk of some late transfer activity. The worry would be if no one comes in, then I guess you would question the club.

Is there a rule that only one deal can be worked on at once? Is Woodward sitting at his desk putting Urgent Transfer Work on non-Fabregas deals into a tray marked Later because he's too busy on the Fabregas File?

Happened with Senna when we signed Carrick.

Agreed. If we thought there was a chance of getting a top class player, then it was worth waiting. Would have been great if it worked out. Probably hasn't and we can move on. I just hope we know what's happening and whether we really should be moving on rather than waiting and hoping.

I suppose we could have made a tentative inquiry about another midfielder.

But our interest in Fabregas was hardly secret, was it? If the other club are receptive, what do we say? We'll get back to you if the Fab deal falls through?

It's possible, I guess.

Happened with Senna when we signed Carrick.

I think it was about Hargreaves in the summer of 2006, after we already got Carrick. We ended up going all in for Hargreaves, but didn't get him until a year later. Meanwhile, our sudden disappearance left Villareal and Senna quite upset. Like I said, it's not a great way of doing business.

Oh no, imagine leaving a footballer upset because we sign someone else. Nah, it was Carrick. Senna was supposedly the back-up option if the Carrick deal fell through.

Do people genuinely think we have an interest in signing one player at a time, and then when that's finished, one way or another, we move onto the next target? We'll be working on various transfers all year round, and will have numerous targets and countless players that we're "keeping an eye on".

What a waste of time.

Now you are be argumentative just for the sake of it. You know that isn't what I was saying at all.

If the Ronaldo thing is true on the 8th, signing someone like Fabregas before this, would be hugely over shadowed.

Guess i am reaching..

Moyes is Hectic, it is known.

When I joined the Caf, Hectic was fairly new, but always showed promise to break the posting record. :) Then what felt like a flash in time, he was wearing a shiny Admin Sheriff's badge.

Like many a chump in here has intimated, Moyes has never been that successful.

Of course not, you've clearly proven it yourself, he's been on here posting and becoming and admin rather than bothering with Everton.

You can reach starman, climb every mountain higher, follow your hearts desire........ ;)

Jesus Christ, everyone jumping on Garethw and others just because they make the comment that this has been a waste of time?

 Frustrated much? I honestly can't see much wrong in a statement like that.

I think it was the image he created in our minds of Moyes and Co doing nothing else except ringing the Barca phone. Not so much the waste of time.

What were you saying then? You were insinuating that we were wasting our time trying to sign Fabregas and instead should have been trying to sign other targets. The only way that is possible is if there is a limit on the amount of time allotted to negotiate transfers, and that trying to sign Fabregas left less transfer signing time for other targets.
