Lol.

Us: "forty million, bitch"
Barca: "euros or pounds?"
Us: "uh... I'll get back to you..."

Us: "forty million pounds, bitch"
Barca: "all in cash or plus add-ons?"
Us: "um.... hang on"

Us: "forty million pounds cash, bitch"
Barca: "great! one payment or instalments?"
Us: "I'll call you back"

You see where this is going.

I can see transfer deadline day now...'Manchester United plan 16th bid for Cesc, although both club and player have reiterated there's no interest in a deal being done' best summer eva.

So you're saying we're going to make Barcelona our bitch? Nice.

They already are. We're like the ugly stepsister to Barca's Cinderella.

Cesc is the prince, Messi's the glass slipper and Anderson is the pumpkin.

Nice to see we've employed Jesse Pinkman. That would explain why we're not doing so well with transfers.

You need to have an agreement with player first.
Fabregas is not interested to come back to England
These bids are useless

Indeed, it's the typical "throwing all the toys out of the pram" scenario and hoping the parents notice, but with Neymar coming in for such huge wages, can Barca afford to compete with United's supposed offer of double salaries?

I don't think afford enters into it. It's more a question of whether the club feels the need for the player outweighs the chunk of change the player will command or a contract renewal. Plus, allowing players to play this game with renewals is part of the reason Thiago is no longer at the club and I don't believe Cesc will have better luck there - especially for someone who is not a starter.

Of course, best time to negotiate a contract improvement is when your competitor for minutes leaves and dramatically impacts the depth chart.

I honest to God can't believe we're that desperate that we're now involving RTE....

This is the same RTE who, in 2003, reported because we failed to sign Ronaldinho, Fergie had abandoned pre season in the USA to fly home to personally capture Damien Duff's signature for £20 million...........

In terms of the 50% that Arsenal make on any profit, does anyone know if that is included with any bonuses? The way I see it, we can make an offer of around £35m plus up to £5-10m in add ons which would be an attractive proposition to Barca if they get to keep all the bonus profits.

If Barca wanted Rooney it would solve a lot of things. Straight swap with Fabregas (or chuck in some money too). We get a midfielder, Rooney goes out of England and Arsenal don't see any money out of the deal :)

 Circa 2003 Duff.

this guy " Kike Marin** @Kike_Marin_ " with over 10000 followers has some interesting tweets about the new Barca manger and Fabregas.

This just feels like me playing football manager. I want player X, keep throwing bids in going up in small increments until they finally accept. Hopefully they don't follow suit with the other part that happens fairly often, get an accepted bit and the player has no interest in joining my club.

This saga is kind of painful.

Dunno whats in this as I can't see the full thing but from what I get he's bought his wife's old London house after the guy put it on sale to fund the divorce settlement. loool sly bugger

A millionaire whose wife left him for Cesc Fàbregas, the Barcelona footballer, will now lose the family home to him as well after an appeal court judge refused to halt its sale.

Elie Taktouk’s Grade-II listed Belgravia flat, which is near Buckingham Palace, was put on the market as part of divorce proceedings to provide money for his ex-wife, Daniella Semaan, to buy her own home.

Fàbregas put in an offer of £5.4 million within three weeks of it going on sale, which was accepted, but Mr Taktouk, 38, tried to block the transaction on the basis that the offer was £2 million below the true value.

His barrister, Stephen Lyon, said there were five other parties with “absolutely no connection” with the husband who were willing to buy it for £7.5 million but had been unable to view the flat while Miss Semaan was in it.

Rejecting his case, Lord Justice Floyd said Mr Taktouk had not objected to a sale of the flat to his mother, Mary Taktouk, for a price similar to that being offered by the footballer and that encouraging more offers would breach the contract of sale already agreed with Fàbregas.

Miss Semaan, 38, who had a baby with Fàbregas in April, told the court that she would have “no accommodation in London” once the home was sold. “If the property is sold to Mr Fàbregas, it is my understanding that it will be used as an investment and rented out in order to cover the cost of the purchase, and/or generate some income,” she said.

Lord Justice Floyd continued: “The strongest point which Mr Lyon makes is that the judge appeared at times to proceed on the basis that the necessary consequence of allowing the sale of the flat to Mr Fàbregas will be that the family could remain in the flat.

“The passage I have read from the wife’s statement could be read as suggesting that there is, in fact, no prospect of that solution being the case. I am by no means convinced that that is the position. If the sale goes through to Mr Fàbregas, there will be a real possibility that the children will remain in the flat, in their home, and that remains a powerful factor in favour of allowing the sale.”

Mr Taktouk, who married Miss Semaan, with whom he has two children, when they were 24 and living in Lebanon, had previously objected to having to pay for a home for her when her new boyfriend was a multimillionaire. Miss Semaan maintained that she only received money for flights to and from Spain and support while she was there, as well as support for their child.

The problem is probably that we don't have more than £30m to buy players for. Big guns for a guy like Moyes perhaps but to a club like us it's not even half of what we need for a summer.

We are going to sign more damn sponsors than actual players in this transfer window if things keep going like this.
