Fabregas

This thread should have been closed a hundred pages ago. It is time the club moved onto other transfer targets if there are any and we the supporters came to terms with the fact that one doesn't always get what they want. For what it's worth I think Moyes and Company could be deluding themselves into thinking that their first signing has to be a marquee one. There is little sense be it sporting or economic in spending a significant proportion of your budget on one player especially when there aren't guarantees of how well they will fit into your system or stay fit long enough to provide value for money. We need more than Fabregas for our midfield and it is about time we set out to address the deficiencies in all earnesty rather than getting hung up on the status of a player. There are plenty of good players not in possession of the "world class" tag who would improve us and whose transfers will be less drawn out than this one.

I made a gaffe when spelling gaffe? Alanis Morrisette should write a song aboht that.

As for Moyes' many blunders, I don't have enough time. We all know what they are.

You're not any good at wumming, so I'd save your energy and not bother.

That's nothing. A couple of weeks ago my missus pronounced the word 'Pronunciation' wrong and failed remember the word 'Vocabulary' in the same sentence whilst attempting to tell me off for laughing at the way she talks. She's very cute.

Why should a transfer thread be closed while the transfer effort is still ongoing however futile the attempt is? What difference does it make to you anyway if it's closed or open?

Some strange cookies in this place actually crying out for mod censorship. I guess that's why rawk works.

Worse than the muppets (me), the WUMs (Storey) and the ludicrous (Cider) are the fecking holier than thous! If they don't like it, I'm sure Top can arrange a thread ban.

Totally agree. This is the first summer I've really indulged and TBH it's a bit of light relief when there's no fuzzball on the box. Telling people they are imbeciles and going OTT with my opinions and predictions has kept my spirits up this year.

Exactly. I've never been a transfer muppet before, but it's not as though there's any other good stuff happening in the world of football.

Manchester United set to bid for Cesc Fabregas
Manchester is preparing to submit a formal bid to Barcelona in order to try to sign Cesc Fàbregas. The Old Trafford-based club will make the offer either today, Tuesday, or by tomorrow at the latest.
The Spanish international midfielder joined up with the Barcelona squad on Monday after enjoying his post-Confederations Cup holidays, during which rumours of a possible move to United have become extremely vocal. This is because he has said nothing, and until such time as he comes out and says that he has no intention of leaving Barcelona, then United will keep on trying.
Manchester United have already made two offers to Barça for Fàbregas. Both were rejected by the club, and during the presentation of new manager Gerardo Martino, both he and the club president ruled out Fàbregas's leaving.
So this raises one obvious question. If Barcelona have declared that Fàbregas is not for sale, why does United keep on insisting? This is the very same question being asked in the Barcelona club offices, where they are beginning to suspect something, for otherwise Manchester United would by now have given up the chase.
Barcelona stands firm against the onslaught of the English club. but it seems to be having very little effect. United is sticking out. There are those who suspect that Manchester United's hopes are being encouraged by people close to the player. The English club shows no signs of throwing in the towel. At Barcelona, what they are hoping is that Cesc will arrive at the Ciudad Deportiva today, get together with Martino, and calm everyone's fears with three simple words: I am staying.
Until this happens, there is going to be a lot of nervousness inside the club, for United's persistence is not to Barcelona's liking.

Locating Ed Woodward should be the club's first priority ahead of any transfer business.

If it's true that we're making a third bid, surely Barca have named their price? otherwise this could be as big a waste of time as the first two bids.

I assume that we have other targets. After making such a fuss over Fabregas it's bound to occur to whomever we bid for that they are only second choice at best.

Thing is, we need two central midfielders in any case, so not sure why we couldn't have wrapped up a deal for one of our secondary targets by now; presumably a Cabaye or Fellaini.

If we have made another bid and we fail, the deal is dead and we should move on to our next target.

What if Barca reject it all like, "Hmmm... not bad, not bad... you're definitely on the right track... getting there but, sorry, no that's not enough."

feck it the deal's dead, right?

You don't have to clue whether the deal is dead or not is the point I'm trying to make.

Not necessarily , we always needed 2 midfielders.

I've got a sneaky feeling that Moyes wants to bring Fellaini in, but wants to bring a marquee CM in first. If it's done like that, perceptions over the Fellaini purchase will be totally different. We've got time on Fellaini as his release clause has a while to run yet...

I'd feck Rachel Riley even knowing that I wasn't her first choice.

I wouldn't rape her though because that would be immoral. You know what I'm getting at.

Him and Cesc and I'm sure we'd all be very happy.

You like to pick on me , but I can take it yes and your right, I don't have a clue.

"más cálido, más cálido, más cálido...."

August the 8th at 11am. Cider told me via pm.

A 3rd bid? For fecks sake. If that bid also gets rejected, this whole thing is just beyond belief. 2 weeks of absolutely nothing, and the club looks silly in the process too.

Why not make a fourth bid?

What is it with you lot and your problem with bidding? Who cares how many bids we make?
