I don't know what's more unlikely - Barcelona sources telling the truth or Man United leaking their bids for Cesc even though they've been told he's categorically not for sale.

Rooney not for sale = he's definitely leaving

Fabregas not for sale = he's definitely staying at Barca

Brilliant logic.

Big different between United's and Barcelona's approach in stating a player isn't for sale with Rooney and Fabregas.

It isn't comparable. Rooney doesn't want to play for United anymore. Fabregas is at his hometown dream club and hasn't said a thing, so as far as we know he could be very happy there.

Tbf there is a big difference between the Rooney and Cesc situations. Rooney very clearly wants to leave whereas it seems Cesc is lukewarm at best at the possibility of leaving.

Posting a BBC article is considered WUM worthy now? I fear for some muppets, they only see what they want.
I'm not much of a muppet, but constantly posting the same discredited gossip is a crime against humanity.

Yes United's manager said no.
A Barcelona source said, the president said, no.

Spot the difference.
Moyes said Rooney's training well and isn't for sale, but ducked any questions relating to Rooney's desire to remain at United. Rooney has remained silent. And on top of that, he's left the pre season tour.
Fabregas expressed his desire to remain at Barcelona. The club president, largely in charge of transfers, stated he's not for sale. Tito, then Barcelona manager, stated Fabregas didn't want to leave aswell.
You can read into the different approaches both ways.

Quote please?
Not "a source close to..."

That was before we made an official bid. Anything could have happened since he made those comments.

He's not the club president. You're going back to an old story to justify new "gossip".And that gossip is from Sport newspaper. The Catalan Daily Star.

That was before the second bid.
What's changed today, apart from BBC quoting unnamed sources?

BBC's reputation being a lot stronger than anyone else quoted thus far in this saga other than Fabregas and Barcelona themselves, I'm gonna side towards their story more for the moment.
