Fabregas to Barcelona!

Barca had Arsenal shafted long ago with this deal. Arsenal held out for more but in the end got less simply because Fabregas was desperate and Barca never really thought enough of him to pay top whack.

Fabregas has been an embarrassment to himself and Arsenal the way he's creeped up to Barcelona - I'll never forget him being all chummy with them in the tunnel prior to their Champions League game. He was Arsenal's captain too at the time if I remember correctly.

Arsenal were always going to get ripped off. He was pimping himself like there was no tomorrow and from what I can gather is now paying Arsenal himself the money that Barca weren't prepared to spend on him.

Looks like Barca played both Fabreags and Arsenal for chumps.

He really hasn't, he's handles the situation alot better than the likes of Ronaldo imo.

I think if he had left at the end of last season, they would have got £50m easily. They would have definitely got more than what they will get this year.

I don't think Rosell got the message

Or they'll just pay £4million less and you'll accept

Oh does he eh?

How about £35million? :smirk:

You're board don't seem to think so.

No, They're gonna pay 35. :smirk:

Or £5million to much if you ask your board.

Pete mate, you've had a mare.

To be fair, Fabregas is worth more than what Barca are paying. If we sold Rooney and only got £35m for him then the caf would be up in arms, and justifiably.

Barcelona getting him on the cheap is a bit of a disgrace if you ask me, the most blatant tapping up scenario I've ever seen and because the players head has now been turned (ok he probably would have wanted to go back to Barca anyway) and then Barca don't even match the asking price but underbid until arsenal don't really have any choice but to sell.

My 2c is that Fabregas will end up regretting his choice. He has been the star man at arsenal and I think he enjoys that, it's similar to ronaldo in many respects, and I think cesc will miss being a big fish in a small(er) pond. He'll he isn't even going to be first choice for Barca yet.

I dont think Cesc will regret it, he will get games and he will be at his home place. Barca just doesnt come out of all this nicely, and the way they have acted. Esp. since they have this "we're bigger and better than anyone else" attitude

How so?

There's no chance he'll regret it, he's a class player and will fit into their system no problem.

Barca are really going to be something this year with Sanchez and Fabregas, what a squad. I still hate them as a club mind.

I just cannot believe that Arsenal have let him go for 35million, they've been fecking robbed.

I agree,

I'm not sure what we're arguing here.

I just feel Fabregas handles the situation better than Ronaldo who took the piss with some of his interviews.

Arsenal are Barca's bitch.

Wait till they want Jack Wilshire.
They're the ones who have been repeated fecked over. Overmars £28M, Petit £7M, Henry £16.5M, Hleb £18M. £70M of underperforming players. And we got Cesc off them for £250K.

Yes, Cesc has been a model pro, respecting Arsenal at all times.

Underperforming Henry played a big part in their Treble season.

No he didn't. He was peripheral and a shadow of the great player he was at Arsenal. Barca fans bleated like hell about being ripped off for the 'crying phantom'.

In his press conference Wenger referred to 'the big clubs' trying to take their players.

He was actually trying to get out of that shirt, but they forced it on him.

You make it look like he said, 'hey pass me one of those'

I dont make it look like anything.

Fabregas has been making eyes at Barca for about 3 years.

Say what you want about Ronaldo (I know lots are still bitter about losing their first love) but there's no way he would have allowed himself to be photographed in a Real shirt while he was at Utd.

The fact that the players did it shows how much of an open secret it was and how much Cesc was obviously talking to them about it.

And Pete, stop talking shit mate, you've been raped here, you said yourself that unless they offered 40 million (and even that would be a 20% discount (which I totally agree with)) then they should be told to feck off.

Your board should have told them to feck off, accepting 35million for your club captain, a world cup winner, one of the best players in the world in his position at 24 and with a long term contract is in no way a good deal, no way whatsoever.

If it was Utd you'd be laughing your tits off and we'd all be going fecking mental.

Ok, Ronaldo treated United better than Fabregas did Arsenal.

Not that I agree, but this is going to keep going in circles.

Yeah right... I am sure Barca really suffers and its Arsenal who got the better deal. Whatever makes you sleep at night

Berbatov scored 25 goals last season too and he was peripheral.

What utter tripe.

Berbatov kept us in the league when Rooney had his little holiday.

Your captain wanting out the way he has, along with Nasri is bad enough but when your board shows no balls at all and accepts 35million for a player worth at least 50 its a very very bad sign for Arsenal Pete.

I suppose if Utd were in that situation, I'd be trying to deflect and focus on the opposition too.

Arsenal is a sinking ship, have a manager unable to see where the problems are to bring them back to the top. The big names realised that and run as fast as they can

We're getting £40M as I understand it. £35m from Barca plus £5M disloyalty bonus rebate.

You're changing your tune now, eh? All through this saga you've been bleating on about how he'll never leave for less than £50m and Barca can feck right off, how can you suddenly switch to this now he's going for £35?

I actually agree with you that he's worth a whole lot more, and with 4 years to run on his contract your board should have been playing hardball for more money. The thing about you that's funny to me Pete is that you always seem to turn things around so it looks good for you. I don't think I can recall seeing you saying Arsenal have fecked up, or this is bad, or similar.

You must be pissed about this transfer and the relatively lowly fee, so why not express it rather than talking about how you've ripped them off in the past and it doesn't matter because Wilshere can step into the void?

Would you prefer the money or the player?

Plus, what are the conditons? Worst case, Arsenal get the money paid out over 3 or 4 years. At least we got 80m cash for Ronaldo

Yeah right... I am sure Barca really suffers and its Arsenal who got the better deal. Whatever makes you sleep at night
We're talking about the transfers from us - all of which were piss poor. Not about having Messi, Iniesta, Xavi etc which is what their success is based on.

so now not having to pay a player a bonus forms part of the transfer fee?

Jesus

And no what we're talking about here is Fabregas, and Arsenal accepting 35million for him, no Petit, Henry, Berbatov or any of the other shit you're bringing up to try make this look like anything other than Arsenal being taken for mugs.

We're also talking about the selling team who obviously weakened themselves even if it was just in depth (by now we know how important that is)

We're talking about the transfers from us - all of which were piss poor.

You're right. Maybe Henry's the only debatable one.

But its nothing to be proud of. I imagine you'd much rather have kept the players rather than the bloated transfer fees.

Here Pete, I've just thought, you should start telling yourself you're getting 50million for him, you know when you take into consideration not having to pay his wages for the next 4 years.

:wenger: said:
"If you give that message out, you cannot pretend you are a big club, because a big club first of all holds onto its big players and gives a message out to all the other big clubs that they just cannot come in and take away from you.

Not really comparable is it? In a normal transfer no we'd pay the £5M and we're not going to.

Well I dunno about you, mon petit chou, but I'm looking forward to the kick off
