Fabregas to Barcelona!

If Song sticks to his job as a pure DM, he can become one of the best in the world at it. His reincarnation as a DM-cum-AM last season didn't do him any favours.

We've got problems, but you're exaggerating when you say 6th. We're better than Spurs.

I often get the impression that rival fans on here enjoy taking a pop at Anderson at the moment simply because they have absolutely nothing else to say to get one over us at this moment in time.

Yup, that's the feeling I'm sitting with as well.

And it's a bit ridiculous, because Anderson has had quite a few very good matches the last year. Of course none of them have watched those or they ignore it and just go with the "Ha ha ha Anderson is crap, biggest waste of money ever"

I love the Anderson comments, I think he's going to be a phenomenal player for us, and like the Ronaldo vs Reyes wars, it's great to see Arsenal fans end up looking stupid again, his talent is very clear.

Tbf to him, its hard to, when you have people in the TF proclaiming that Sneijder wont be signed on a free by Barca.

Exactly !!

It's getting more ridiculous everyday. We also have people proclaiming Anderson is the new messiah after 1 good match, despite his inconsistencies over the last few seasons

So stick your own sarcasm up your hole Cnutofallcnuts;)

They never learn :)

It wasn't my sarcasm, it was Sarni's

He had good games last season, but he also had notoriously shit ones which United fans on this forum acknowledged and used to rip the piss out of him. If he gains a modicum of consistency, I think he'll become a fairly decent player..it's up to him really.

Arsenal could finish top 4 without Fabregas and perhaps even without Nasri, too.

Ramsey and Wilshere are quality, certainly better than what Liverpool have to offer in CM. The question is squad depth and who Wenger brings in. They surely need To bring in a good CM now. It'd be interesting to see Arshavin in the central position in a 4231 as well.

Past 4 years, league only.

Xavi/Iniesta - 253 games, 35 goals, 66 assists.
Fabregas - 106 games, 28 goals, 58 assists.

Why Arsenal let Barca walk over them for the fee still outrages me, more proof to player power I guess. I'll kinda miss him, but I'll enjoy seeing the next Xavi-Iniesta coming through in our league in Ramsey-Wilshere....yes I went there -_-

I still can't see how Fabregas is going to get into Barcelona's starting XI unless they are prepared to drop Xavi (which is unlikely).

He must really value the bench at Camp Nou

Why are some Man Utd fans feeling "outraged" over this?
Barcelona has done exactly what Arsenal does to the smaller clubs. If there's a way of buying a world class player at relatively small fees, then the club will use that way.

Dunno really. I'm not really that outraged either, just find it crazy cheap. He should of gone for similar to Kaka I guess, younger and offers just as much all round.

How much money did you want Arsenal to receive?

They're getting the same amount of money Newcastle got for Andy Carroll.

Fabregas still has 4 years left on his contract, which puts Arsenal in a very strong position. The fee they've got considering what the likes of Ronaldo, Kaka, Sanchez, Torres, Tevez, Robinho etc. have gone for in recent years is a joke.

It's the downside of having only one club he's prepared to go to. There could be a few other clubs who could come in and drive the price up but it would be a fruitless task since he wouldn't be willing to go there.

How did we manage to get 80million for Ronaldo?

As a club you need to put your foot down and make him stay till the club is sufficiently compensated. I reckon 40 would be your price to let him go and overall it might be around that figure. anything less than 35, its just bad business.

Arsenal going to finish 5th or 6th this season.

Let the good times roll...

anyone else think arsenal messed up slightly by selling fabregas a season too late...

cant help but feel that they could have got more money for Fabregas

arsene will need to spend well and hopefully he has done his homework - i hope he does if only to keep the scousers out of the champions league

I almost feel Wenger had prepared himself for this inevitability for seven long hard years. It seems almost Dumbledore-esque that he had set out a plan ever since the moment Fabregas set foot into the club. Our play in recent seasons was built around Cesc, where inverted wingers/converted wingers helped his game flourish to an extent. Now it looks like Arsene is ready to scrap that and is prepared to go back to having real pace on the wings with the likes of Gervinho and Miyaichi.

The experiment with Fabegas may have in some ways failed, but it may also have been part of Arsene's thinking all along to maintain a consistency in our league finishes while we got over the main part of the stadium transition process.

They were never going to get a sizable fee when there was only on club who would buy him. The power was gone the moment Fabregas decided to go back to Barcelona and Barcelona only.

You can't honestly think this?

He simply isn't intelligent enough in his positioning.

Looks certain - Barca have called a press conference for tomorrow morning 9 AM (Spanish time) according to Spanish media.

EDIT: My bad. Looks like Wenger has called for a presser. Sorry!

Looks like Cesc has finally signed for Barca. 5-year deal rumoured from several places.

They will not accept anything less than £50m. There is absolutely no use in putting a "cheeky" bid.

Correct. can you tell that nice Senor Rosell at Barca?

I don't think Rosell got the message

I think he's not going anywhere in a hurry. Barca won't pay the money (£30M with £9M down? Do feck right off) and he's not going to Real or Inter.

Or they'll just pay £4million less and you'll accept

If Barca find 50M euros he's gone - if not he stays.

Oh does he eh?

I wouldn't mind if they paid the £50-£60M.

How about £35million? :smirk:

If Torres is worth £50M, Modric and Sanchez £35. Fabregas is worth at least 50.

You're board don't seem to think so.

Barca aren't going to pay 45M euros so it looks like he's not going anywhere.

No, They're gonna pay 35. :smirk:

I've thought for a while that our position is 'if Barca offer fair value you can go but we're not selling you cheap'. £40M is 20% off if you ask me.

Or £5million to much if you ask your board.

Pete mate, you've had a mare.
