Fabregas to Barcelona!

Feel sorry for them.

Arsenal (as much as we all dislike them) are a proper team with real history and a nice big world-wide fanbase.

They aren't an oil team or Russian mafia team either. It's a little sad that players don't want to stay there.

I respect Arsenal and even Liverpool much more than City, Chelsea, and Real Madrd.

Take liverpool out of that with their recent purchases.

Why on earth would you include Real Madrid in that list? They earn their own money, they have an unrivalled history and a global fanbase.

What's ridiculous is that you shouldn't have to feel sorry for us. You should despise us. We have brought a fair amount of this upon ourselves, and the way in which it's come to a head the day before the season starting is appalling mis-management from the board. It's been said to death, but Wenger should concentrate on football and the board should concentrate on signing the players Wenger has said he wants. Simple as that. The fact that this hasn't been happening for a few years now and Wenger has had to do everything is fundamentally why we're in this situation now.

Real Madrid earn their own money? I must have missed all the times the government bailed them out! feck sake
They're just baseless rumours though, really, there was one occasion where they sold their training ground to the council but that was 10 years ago. Today they are an extremely profitable club.

Just like I must have missed Barcelona having to borrow obscene amounts of money to stay afloat and even pay their players wages. United, Bayern and Arsenal are pretty much the only three massive sides in world football that pay their own way.

Bayern have a very cosy relationship with Adidas who are also shareholders, which is partly why their commercial revenue is so high.

What a farce.

Barcelona have been cnuts throughout this process and the Arsenal have been a bunch of headless chickens.

This should've been sorted at the start of the summer.

Guillem Balague
Interesting: Arsenal hanging on for a deal. Im afraid the cellebrations from Barcelona were premature and that must have hurt Arsenal board

Yeah because that's what this clusterfcuk of a saga hinges on, the hurt feelings of the Arsenal boardroom.

Not that Barca are trying to get one of the top players in the world at the same fee as Andy fecking Carroll.

I know it's not his fault, he's a journo, and we choose to listen/watch or follow him, but I wish Balague would feck off somewhere, maybe Mongolia.

Feel Sorry for Arsenal? Why?

Its their own fault. They are a London based club with history and all that. They should have been in a way better position than they are.Wenger doesn't spend for some reason.

In fact Arsenal , the players and even fans are the cockiest I have ever encountered in my life. I for one just hate Arsenal.

You can't tar them all with the same brush, but yeah some of them have this superior attitude I find. I work with two Arsenal fans, one would tell you that even though they play lovely football, he'd have a season of winning ugly if it meant winning the league.

The other one is a complete tool, he says that Arsenal are the best team in the country because they play the best football. I responded by saying they haven't won a trophy in six years and haven't won the league in seven years, he paused for a moment then said 'But we play the most beautiful football in the country'

Liverpool are trying to buy success. So they belong in the same pile as City, Chelsea and Real. When was the last time they produced a decent youth player?

Sorry, but I can't put Liverpool in the same pile as Chelsea and City. Liverpool have a rich history with tradition, just like ourselves.

Several years back, players went to Chelsea because of their money, now City are that team but Liverpool aren't the same. They may spend money on players, but not on the level that Chelsea once did, or City have been doing the last few years.

Although I do agree with your comment that they don't promote very often from within. Who was the last player there to make the successful step from the youth up to first team? Steven Gerrard?

This.

It's Chelsea and City who have sealed the death of World football

I struggle to see it ever going back to what it was

Well, City and Chelsea have the real sugar daddies, but I can't stand to think Liverpool and Us are in the same boat. We spent a lot of money on players, but that money was generated as a result of our on the pitch success, and also the fact United made good business moves and expanded our fan base a decade ago. Liverpool this season have essentially tried to buy success by pumping in a lot of money on transfers.

Nobody is denying their history or tradition, but they don't belong on a list with us. And if history and tradition are a criteria then Real shouldn't be on your list either. They're one of the most successful and prestigious club in football (if you look at what they have won - how long they have been around).

Of course we and Liverpool are in the same category, 2 prestigious clubs. Not everyone has to develop youth from within and place them in the first team. Jesus

SSN: Arsenal announce deal in principle to sell him to Barca.

"Arsenal.com". Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: "We have been clear that we didn't want Cesc to leave and that remains the case. However, we understand Cesc's desire to move to his home town club and have now accepted an offer from Barcelona. We thank Cesc for his contribution at Arsenal and wish him future success."

Finally it's over.

Now for the Sneijder and Nasri sagas to end please.

Seeing how they dominate almost every team in La Liga, Pep might try:

-----------Valdes-------
Alves--Pique--Busquets--Abidal
----------Xavi----------
-----Cesc------Iniesta-----
Pedro-----Messi-------Villa

I'm still unsure how Pep will fit Cesc into his team. Might want to try a 3-4-3 à la Valdes - Alves, Piqué, Abidal - Busquets (Thiago) - Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc - Pedro, Messi, Villa.

Thiago is playing a blinder v Real, top class talent. Pep's really proud of the players from the Barca-Academy so I guess he would want Thiago to have as many appearances as possible this season.

Sad day for the Premiership but you can't blame the lad for wanting to return to his roots.

It's bizarre that my emotion towards this is one of relief and some vague happiness that we can move on.

Did drag on so long, when Ronaldo left it was slightly disappointing, but glad that it was all over.

I know the feeling mate, went through the exact same thing when Ronaldo finally scarpered off to Madrid. You obviously want your team to get the best deal but the fact that it's always in the media day in day out is a bit depressing.

The disappointment is spread out over so long it doesn't really register. It is a big deal though.
