Fabregas to Barcelona!

Worry about that in 12 months. I assume that we'd do a 1-year extension on Nasri so he'd still be worth a fee and Fabregas would still have 3 years to run.

If Nasri would agree to an extension that'd be done already surely?

Well ideally we want him to sign up for four years. It might be a reasonable compromise for him to sign on for a year and pick another £3M and we get a fee for him next year. Of course he might just hardnose it reckoning he'll do better just to leave on a free and get another £10M over his contract in lieu of transfer fee.

Because he's hoping to keep both of them?

I guess, hardly likely though and every chance Valencia themselves will have a deadline or of someone else coming in for him and driving the price up.

Do you think there's room for him even if both stayed?

I don't think so, we'd have Nasri, Mata, Fabregas, Arshavin, Walcott, Gervinho, Rosicky and Ramsey for 3 AM positions. Overkill.

Havent Rosicky and Arshaven been a bit shit though?

Any serious sign of them being moved on?

Rosicky was pretty piss poor last year after we spent two years getting him fit. Arshavin was disappointing - he started the season out of condition and never got up to speed I expect more from him this term.

fecking hell, was just watching a video on Fabregas and it reminded just how fecking good he is. If I could pick one midfielder in the world to sign it would be this guy.

Surely the likes of Arshavin, Walcott, Gervinho and potentially Mata are competing for the wide 'AM' roles, alongside a single striker, whereas Cesc, Rosicky and Ramsey are more 'CM', albeit in an attacking capacity?

How long does Fabregas currently have left in his contract?

I was just looking at the numbers for the overall 3, though Mata and Arshavin can play centrally too. I don't really like Fabregas in the hole nor do I think Nasri has played well for Arsenal there.

Yep, for me the world's best midfielder bar none. Better individually than either Xavi or Iniesta imo, although as a pair they are an awesome and very complimentary partnership.

Fabregas would be my number 1 muppet choice, he and Banega imo would potentially give us a midfield capable of matching Barca's. Sneijder is nowhere near the class of Fabregas in my view, and if Fergie is willing to spend £35m on Sneijder, i would rather bid £45m for Fabregas, put Barca on the spot and let Arsenal worry about who to sell him to.

High praise indeed, but I just don't see how he continually fails to get into the Spanish national team if that was the case.

Personally I'd have Xavi, Iniesta, Ozil, Sneijder all ahead of him.

That doesn't mean much. He falls out of the Spanish team because his style is more direct than the slow and pensive Xavi and Iniesta who also have more experience playing together throughout the seasons so instantly click when they meet up for the national team.

One shouldn't judge a player on whether he gets picked for internationals, I mean tblbitw doesn't play for Brazil.

I think he answered that and it was HIS choice and not a global choice.

At times the Spanish team BEGGED for Fabregas in the World Cup. It was all still too easy for them of course, but it could of potentially been the most dominating World Cup team ever if they used the right team....but who am I to criticize the World Champs anyway ><

I think he offers more than Xavi does and after his first season playing backup and getting back into things at his old team, Xavi will be the one rotating in for any of the 3 CM's(as well he can play DM too) to prolong his own career as much as anything.

One shouldn't judge a player on whether he gets picked for internationals only when there is a muppet in charge of the national side.

Del Bosque is anything but a muppet. Domenach was very much one.

This I agree with. Arsenal would rather take £45m from us than £30 from Barca, wouldn't they?

Fabregas probably wouldn't come though.

Guillem: after lots of talking, Arsenal starts to accept FCB wont pay £40m for Cesc, negotiations are advancing. All could be sorted before Friday

I've got an idea. Look, Barcelona clearly don't need Fabregas, they've got that Thiago kid anyway, and Xavi will play 4-5 more seasons the rate he's going.

So why can't we just have Cesc until Xavi calls it a day? Then we can sell him cheap to Barca, at a nice friendly price, say £40 million or so. He'll fit in quite nicely in our midfield, I suspect, and won't be too sad at winning a couple of trophies while he waits for his dream transfer.

He does not want to move here and Wenger would rather sell to Barca than to us.

Hey, I've also an idea. How about us get Messi, Ronaldo, Schweisteiger, and Maradona on loan until 2019? We will win Octuple every season!

That's clearly unrealistic you buffoon! :wenger:

I wasn't entirely serious, just pulling your leg.

Well feck em then. If they can't pay the price then they can't have what they want. Simple.

Basically Barca can get anyone they want & at a good price - if said player is dying to go there & no-where else..

I suppose we've done that a good few times ourselves but we always end up payin top-dollar for a lesser profile than Fabregas..

Indeed, but we would have preferred to have got them cheaper.

It's not our intention, or for any sensible club.

Deal very close according to Ballbag.

all the figures in euros: 29 fixed, 6 variable and 5 from cesc

the 5m euros from Cesc is 1m euros a year during 5 years that he will reduce from his planned wages. that money will be paid to Arsenal.

Apparently the deal is very very very imminently imminent.
