He looked like a lad possessed or bitter about something with the way he was flying around when he came on. I reckon frustration might of had a lot to do with it, there was a bit of ''feck this shit of not being picked for so long, I'll show you Moyes'' going on with him I'd say. It's a pity things panned out the way they did though.

Jesus Christ! He didn't look bitter. He was just deperately trying to impress as he hasn't had a look in since Moyes took over. I feel sorry for the lad getting grief for a heat of the moment mistake when we had been insipid yet again at OT. The best that we were looking at would be an unwanted replay.

When Antonio Valencia gets sent off for a stupid moment towards the end of a game it's "feck HIM HE COULD'VE LOST US THE GAME THE feckING CUNTTTTTTTTTTT"

When it's Fabio who injures his opponent with a nasty challenge and played a role in actually losing a game it's "I feel sorry for him".

Moyes has fecked the minds of you bastards hasn't he?

All this talk about Fabio letting the manager down, it's true, but I also think Moyes let Fabio down this season and that is how he's been repaid, because Fabio no longer gives a feck.

I think he gave too much of a feck. He was like a man possessed, the red card was no surprise whatsoever.

The red was his fault, no doubt about that. But the energy...that's exactly what this United side needs. A bit of life and i doubt he'd have been sent off if he started the game.

That's not the sort of energy we want. He was running around like a headless chicken before the red card. He looked like he left his brain on the bench.

TBF he did perhaps the most entertaining thing of the 2nd half. So he deserves some credit.

Looked like he'd been at some kind of drugs, steamed around recklessly before that final ridiculous foul.

Should be enough to hush the fanboys continually asking why he's not playing.

Ruined it for us, when we just needed a draw to get through, and get some of the injured lot back.

Didnt though did he, we were shite before and we got an injury at CB which meant we had to draft in our 8th choice right back

We won't see him again will we. Moyes just said a clear red and didn't bother even defending him.

To be fair so did Rafael a couple of years back, he just had more luck with injuries and got enough game time to iron this out. I just fear it's a bit too late for Fabio now.

Exactly this. The red wouldn't have happened if he had more then 10 minutes of football this season and didn't have to make something happen and show some energy, because he knows moyes for some reason doesn't like him. Was clearly out to prove something and as so happens was too enthusiastic in his tackle.

Not sure why he has had such limited opportunities this year, but i cannot see Moyes playing him again any time soon, if at all.

What was almost the most annoying thing about it is that it provides an excuse.

"Ah we may have played like shit largely for the last few weeks, including much of today, lacked invention, looked mentally spend again and basically lacking in confidence....but we'd have won if Fabio not got sent off!"

I feel for him. It's hardly surprising that he did something stupid, which it undoubtedly was. He's been essentially frozen out of the team all season so he was obviously trying to make an impression when he got brought on today. He came on full of energy and wanted to be involved in everything, so it's a real shame that it ended like it did. It must be really hard for him, considering his brother is basically our first choice right back when he was supposed to be the more talented of the two when they arrived. I don't think the loan to QPR did him any favours, but I refuse to believe that a player that SAF picked to start a CL Final against Barca is now an absolute no-hoper that doesn't stand a chance of making it. This was a player that many thought was going to become one of our regular starters, and now he's being left on the bench, despite being the only left back, whilst a winger players right back and right back plays left back. I imagine Moyes would have put Valencia right back today if he hadn't already subbed him off.

I think you could tell he didn't really give a shit. The way he just ran off without even pleading his case at all was telling. I can't really blame him either, he hasn't been given a chance this season.

we wouldn't have lost if Fabio hadn't been sent off, so I think you can pin some of this on him.

It was heading for a dull draw, but the second Fabio went it was a case of can we somehow hold on

It didn't look good for Fabio anyway but after today I doubt he will play again, still a shame because he's a good squad player and much better than the lack of chances he's been given this season.

Say we replace give Moyes the boot now, then what? Who are we going to get to replace him and more importantly, who can we get that can overcome our ineptitude (seemingly) in the front office? We ship Moyes off and we still have a greenhorn chief executive in Ed Woodward, who appears after this last summer to not have a clue, at best, and at worst is a Glazer shill promoted to his position to make sure the bottom line takes precedent over quality on the pitch.

I think our reluctance to compete in the transfer market over the last several seasons may have a lot to do with our results this season.

If the manager has a good reputation and some personality, the board will listen to him like they did with Sir Alex.

the main issue with Fabio is his fitness - he get injured too often and has been unable to get a good run of games. His situation is similar to that of Anderson, talented but delivered very little. Time to move on,best option for both parties

How can he given sympathy, how is Moyes at fault for his act of lunacy and utter stupidity? I hate how he's become another darling of the anti-Moyes brigade, that is why he shouldn't be picked. Smalling may not be a good right-back (he is NOT a right back anyway and is sacrificing for the team) but he hasn't done something that stupid that I can remember. Yeah, he started a champions league final, but he hasn't progressed since then, while Rafael HAS. He has no excuses, he either improves and impresses Moyes without being an idiot, or he packs his bags.

and you know that the reason he was not picked is because he was poor in training?
It seems so. It seems Moyes doesn't really rate him. But yeah, he's the best and Moyes is blind.

I don't really know how you can argue that this proves he can't be trusted. He hasn't been given a chance all season and only got a game today because Rio got injured and Valencia had already been taken off. He's still very young so some brashness is to be expected. He came on today and wanted to be involved in everything. It might not have been the best thing to be doing but he was at least showing some commitment and effort, and in all honesty the only thing he was guilty of with the foul was over-committing. It was a stupid thing to do, I don't think anyone would deny that, but footballers do stupid things from time to time, even ones that start every game. It's hardly a shock that a young player desperate to prove himself did something daft while trying to make an impression.

We've persisted with Evra at left back despite him obviously having ambitions of being the new (old) Gareth Bale, Buttner seems to have been his cover by default despite looking completely inept more often than not, Rafael and Evans have even played there ahead of him despite not being left backs. He's watched a winger and two center backs play at right back ahead of him, despite the former not being up to scratch and the latter two looking uncomfortable at best. He's seen the likes of Young, Kagawa, Hernandez, Fellaini and Cleverley get regular games despite barely ever having an impact or doing anything of any use. All the while he's either been left out of the squad entirely, or included in it with absolutely no hope of getting on the pitch short of a defensive crisis.

It's easy to say that he's been unimpressive for the last 2 and half years when he's spent half a year without getting a kick, a year shafted out on a shitty loan deal at a doomed club where he was constantly played out of position, and essentially a year out injured. You can't completely disregard the fact that before this he was regarded one of the most talented young players we had in the squad, so much so that the greatest manager of all time picked him to play a CL final against Barca. I really hope we stick with him and give him a proper chance to prove himself because it'd be ridiculous and grossly unfair to base your entire opinion of him on his showing today.
