He should get some time on the left instead of Young. Surely he could do better than Young as a forward.

he doesnt even make the bench for the panda cola cup!

it must be Fabio who shagged Moyes' daughter

It's beyond annoying that he's being frozen out like this.

Seems clear he's already decided he's off so Moyes giving the opportunities to those staying at the club.

It's a shame it's come to this but it makes sense.

His contract expires in the summer. Think he'll return back to Brazil.

he's off. :(

moyes just doesn't rate him. and i think it is safe to say moyes prefers his left back to be a left footer.

Fergie didn't rate him either, 22 appearances in five years shows that. If Moyes doesn't fancy him too then there must be a reason to that. He wasn't all that impressive in his loan spell at QPR, maybe, just maybe he isn't a top level left-back. It isn't a case of "Moyes has frozen him out", he has never bloody been a first-team player.

Fergie did rate him, hence he played crucial fixtures in the second half of 10/11. For QPR, he was decent. I remember he started the season off as first choice left back, until he picked up an injured. He played games for QPR at RB, LB, and RW - he was rated. The problem for Fabio last season was that he was never a regularly starter in any position. He was a regular starter when he came back from injury, but he never played 5+ games as a RB or LB. He is talented and deserves more playing time. I would have liked to see him play as a RB more, in the absence of Rafael. Moyes' biggest mistake was playing him against Crystal Palace. I say this because if he didn't start that game, I wouldn't question Moyes' decision to not give him more time. I'd be on the opposite end and say "Oh, he doesn't work hard in training."

To finish off, here's one of Fabio's best displays last season:

He was part of the very good 2011 team. He did very well for us then, he needs a long spell in the team and he will produce the goods. Better than Buttner overall.

Sad to see Fabio leave but it's Moyes' team, if he doesn't rate a player, that's his choice, it's his team to do what he wants with it. Just don't choose Buttner. We need to sign someone in the summer.

Fabio started 23 games for QPR. He did get injured early and missed a good chunk of games, but when Redknapp came in Fabio started nearly every game, and I'm pretty sure he played well more than 5 games at LB, I don't recall him playing any other position under Redknapp, if he did it wasn't often. And he was often their best player.

Sorry, my bad. I meant to say that he never played 5+ consecutive games as a RB/LB.

SAF didn't rate Fabio either....GET OVER IT

Two years ago he started him in a CL final and he sent him on a loan last season. He rated him, but he had to send him on loan because he could not play him Ahead of Rafael and Evra.

And Jones, and Smalling, and even Buttner.

He started 6 consecutive games at LB.

He started on the right against Norwich and Manchester City.

He's probably off anyway, I'd be surprised if he stays.

I don't remember seeing him play RB for QPR, but I'm sure I just missed those games. 4 then, I see you were being very exact with you statement!

He always was a little reckless in his attacking for us, but i thought he showed a lot more balance at QPR. Moyes is perhaps more sensitive to his defensive shortcomings than Fergie would have been. Or maybe he just sucks in training.

Can't believe people are still wasting time in here repeating the same points ad nauseum. It's been pretty obvious where he stands in the pecking order, whether you like it or not.

It's pretty amazing how often this thread gets bumped.

If he hasn't featured that much under Moyes and even at QPR then something is wrong with him, if he is to leave then good luck to him.

He played pretty much every game he was fit for QPR, until they get relegated and Herry decided to play players who will be there on next season. It is a myth that he didn't play for QPR.

It's not a 'myth' at all, it's actually just plain wrong.

Can Moyes honestly say that Büttner is a better defensive option than Fabio, or a potato for that matter?

He wasn't a proper starter is what I meant. Fabio is overrated on the caf, if he was as good as claimed he'd have been one of QPR's best players. Injuries didn't help for sure but I'm not surprised he isn't playing at all for Man Utd. Maybe better for him to move.

Yes he was. Harry used him as much as he could, Fabio had a hamstring injury early on in the season which meant he only really started to pick up games from November onwards. He was also part of their first team when QPR had a spurt of form.

I'd show you the stats, but i'm too busy.

He was a starter for QPR but had several injury problems last seasons, as has been the case quite often at United as well.
It's a pity he's going to go again, when he gets the playing time he'll improve and then we'll see how far he goes.

This will ultimately make Rafael leave as well in the upcoming year or two, I fear.

Not sure why people persist with the nonsense that no manager's ever rated him or that he wasn't a regular or good enough at QPR. Fergie himself said he was going to loan Fabio out last season because his development was stunted being injured so often and Evra playing every game.

I doubt it, unless he wants to take a step down to whatever team picks up Fabio, caring more about playing with his brother than his career.

Rafael is a United legend in the making, hope he retires with us.

What makes you think he'd leave if we don't resign Fabio?

So he's not injured and cannot get ahead of Buttner in the pecking order. What happened?

I think it's fairly obvious that it's not got anything to do with his ability.

He's off in Jan and I hope he does well wherever he goes.

Just noticed he is on the bench ahead of Büttner. I am guessing Büttner is injured.
