Buttner has barely played either, besides he might end up playing a lot of our league and FA Cup games. We don't know whats going to happen in the future anyway. Still you are all overreacting.

Yeah, it's definitely overreacting to think a guy who is fourth choice right back and third choice left back who is out of contract in eight months time may not be at the club for that much longer.

Really mind boggling as to why he isn't seen as second choice for both fullback positions when he is by far ahead of his competition. It's actually not even close which is why it's so shocking that Moyes doesn't rate him. Maybe he just thought Sir Alex didn't rate him because we sent him out on loan and saw Buttner here but I can't see that being true.

I assume SAF and Moyes sat down and talked through each and every player. If they haven't he is hopeless.

We will play Smalling at right back the next time Rafa's out.

Makes my blood boil that, so static... fecking hell, even if he doesn't see him as first choice LB Moyes can surely see the advantages of having someone on the bench he can sub on for either fullback?

He's the second best choice as a RB as far as I'm concerned yet he hardly gets a look in. And he's staggeringly much better than Büttner.

I seriously doubt we'd sell him.

The staff will know that the football gods wouldn't look too kindly upon a club that passed up a chance to field twin fullbacks.

That pretty much sums it up, mate. It's just sad really. That Moyes couldn't find room for Fabio against Norwich in the League Cup is embarrassing, imo. Buttner should be behind Fabio in the pecking order - easy as that.

The first time I met Fabio I thought he was gay,
But now I'm here singing on his wedding day.

Really want him to do well and today he got a goal. He's our future if he improves his fitness and get's the chance he deserves again.

We'll lose him, and for the player's sake, I hope we do too. The way the club has managed him has been disgraceful. Here is a player who was absolutely magisterial for us in our quest to the Champions League final in 2011, and since then he's barely been given an opportunity and was forced to join a completely unstable and terrible QPR on loan to accommodate a far inferior player here in Alexander Büttner.

An excellent talent who deserves to play regularly and fulfill his potential. For these reasons, I hope he leaves.

Looking at that loan the wrong way. An in form Evra would have kept Fabio out last season, so they sent him out on loan (didn't go to plan but the idea was there). So they lose a LB, they need to bring in someone, Buttner was signed to allow Fabio to go on loan. It's just a shame Moyes likes Buttner.

So I wouldn't call the way we have treated him a disgrace, I'm very disappointed but that's life, it just hasn't happened for him due to a number of different factors out of his control.

I still hold high hopes for him but wouldn't have anything against him returing to Brazil or any club for that matter.

Bizarre that he didn't start today, though at least he came on in the end and picked up a goal.

It's quite depressing seeing Buttner getting games over him.

He's out of contract in the summer, I think.

I thought you's were being a bit daft but his celebration and his instagram message makes me think that he actually is leaving.

What was the instagram message?

I might just be a bit paranoid but it was the picture of his waving celebration and under the picture he wrote: 'Thank you for the fans! This club change my life and life of my family'

Fab, we love you so
We want you to know
United's gonna miss your 'fro
The minute you walk out that door
So please don't go
Don't go
Don't go away

Have always wondered if Fabio could possibly play further forward, as a right winger/forward perhaps. He seems very composed, and it was a well-taken goal by any standards. Whatever the case, it'd be sad to see him go though.

Does sound pretty ominous to be honest. Feck.

If he's allowed to leave, it's a monumental feck up by Moyes. How on earth does our second best option at both fullback spots lose out on playing time to inferior players.

Basically it tells me that either your gaydar is hyper-sensitive or way off course; but most likely it really says more about you than anything else.... which is fine.

Some like blondes some like brunettes and some like cocks. Each to their own.

He wasn't forced to go to QPR. Had the option to go to Benfica but preferred QPR. Since Fabio has been at the club, he's had many injuries and with Evra here, he wasn't going to get much game time even when fit, so it was thought best to send him out on loan where he could get regular football. Unfortunately while there he picked up a few injuries, then Redknapp decided he preferred Traore over Fabio towards the end of the season and he didn't get much of a look in. He still got games though, and a lot more than he would have here.

Who needs a promising young talent when you can spend 15m on a 29 year old fullback who had done jack shit outside Everton?

It's absolutely mental that Buttner plays ahead of him. Absolutely batshit mental. feck it, it's even mental Ashley Young plays on the wing ahead of him.

He looked distraught after scoring.

:(
I don't understand it either.

Took his goal really well but the celebration did seem kind of sad, I thought he was gonna cry. It's a real shame that he seemingly isn't even seen as a good back-up option.

You could see just how pleased the players were for him. He (and Rafael of course) has been here for a while now, 2007/08, so it has been a while, he obviously gets on with all the players so it was great to see the rush to him. I can see the reaction to his celebration but we have all been proven wrong when it comes to body language and celebrating, the only person who knows what was going on his head was himself (and probably Rafael )

Seems happy enough in this shot, so I'm sticking with that image  Put the spoilers on because it's a large image.

Hard to see where he'd ever get a regular game, so it comes to a point where they neeed to move on for their own career.

Similar scenario with Anderson.

If you're not starting in the League cup home v Norwich in a schedule that has seen us play 4 games in 10/11 days, the writing is massively on the wall.

Fabio is probably 3rd choice for either full back slot, with us actively looking for another left back and Anderson is about 5th choice for centre midfield when it's inevitable we'll bring someone in there....

Sort this out Moysty.

He should be second choice both full backs, thus giving him plenty of playing time.

Smalling and to a lesser degree Jones on right back make my teeth ache, no attack can ever come from the right when they're playing. It's like O'Shea, only worse.

Don't get me started on Buttman, he's just not very good in the football art called defending, and that's a wee bit of a problem since he is, you know, a defender. Nice assist last night though. Very Baines-esque, and I suspect that, and that alone, is the reason Moyes keeps playing this "defender".

Almost seemed embarrassed to score last night ... I'm slightly mystified by Moyes' treatment of him so far. He's the only player in our squad who's not been given any real chance.

I don't think it was embarassment, I think he was saying thank you and goodbye.

I honestly cannot imagine a reason for Büttner playing ahead of him other than the Dutchman's left-footed.

Seriously he is the player who has mistreated mostly this season. He is miles better than anyone of our full/wing backs bar Rafael and Evra but for some reasons known only to Moyes everyone is starting above him. Smalling, Jones and Buttman should not start when Fabio is available.

Hopefully things will change and he'll get his chance in the next few months. He can really become a great player if we give him the chance.
