Fabinho

How confident are you all that the players around Fabinho didn't make him look better than he actually is?
Not sure how that's possible. They might help you play to your full potential but they can't make you look like a better player unless you're just a goal poacher.

He's a tall strong quick player with Brazilian skill and good stamina, he sounds ideal for Jose.

Most importantly the guy clearly wants to come too!

All this Fabinho crap is nothing more than people trying to create a story where there isn't one.

Monaco weren't too great defensively. He'd probably have more help playing for us than he did at Monaco

Fabinho and Bakayoko were why Monaco were basically able to play almost a 4-2-4 with attacking FBs.

Fair!

I would be amazed if we signed Fabinho. Not that he isn't a good player, just that I don't see any concrete signs of interest from us.

Seems much more a Guardiola or Wenger type player, than a Mourinho one.

Is he even linked with City or you just being emos?

I seem to remember early in the window some links to City , back when many were freaking out because they thought City was going to sign 4 players before the month of May even ended.

He and his agent seem desperate to get him linked to SOMEPLACE.

With those asking the questions probably fishing for Manchester United hints, Fabinho was asked which players and managers he’d like to work with: “Players, the one I think I would like to play together or face, to watch closely, is Messi. Managers, I would also like to work with great managers to learn more about football, learn new things. There are great managers in football. Guardiola, Zidane, who’s doing a great work, Tite, also doing a great job in the national team, Simeone. These are managers I would like to work with some day.”

That wasn’t good enough, so the ESPN Brasil presenter added an all important word: “Mourinho?”

Fabinho played along: “Mourinho, too. He is an excellent manager. No doubt.”
Cheers.

As I said in the other thread

Bakayoko > Chelsea
Matic > us
Fabinho > City

IMO
To translate your post:

New exotic stuffsz > chelsea, city
Dried out boring Serbian multiple PL winning vereran> us

Woe is us.

Considering he was one of their best players (if not the best) during the 2 previous seasons before 16/17, I'd say, if anything, he's the one that makes the team better.

He is the type of player I think would be any manager's type of player.

If we let City get this guy after he indicated his preference for us and we end up with Matic or Dier then we are just asking for it

Because he has been excellent with two completely different rosters.

Did he really indicate a preference for us or are things just being spun to make it look like he did for the sake of garnering clicks/readers? I mean we get things like this every summer where some comment by a player is spun into being something more than it is.

There have been winks and nudges regarding both us and City for months from both player and agent. The categorical denials from United a few weeks ago would seem to indicate we're now looking elsewhere (Matic).

Its clear what he is doing, he wants both united and city to beg him to come to them. Yesterday he was batting eyelids at united today he name drops guardiola and Zidane. He is playing the game. Dont get drawn into this.

In his case, I'd say it's a legit criticism to say he could and should have scored more during his career. He's been brilliant for more than a decade and won everything so he shouldn't lose sleep over it obviously but still.

Can't agree with you at all here. He didn't fail to score more goals because he wasn't good enough at doing so, it's because of how his team was set up to play. He'd have had to sacrifice his position to have more goal scoring opportunities, thereby sacrificing his ability to play killer passes, recycle possession etc.

I like Bakayoko more than most people here seem to, but I think Fabinho was the one holding the midfield together defensively. Also Lemar having the quality to create chances without having to leave his wing open and not being the type to constantly dribble meant they had a bit of balance.

You can play 4-2-4 with a good enough squad. If Madrid dropped Kroos or Modric tomorrow and threw Bale up top with Benzema, for instance, they'd probably stop winning the Champions league, but I'm not sure they'd be any less likely to win La Liga or get out of the CL group stage by outscoring teams like Monaco did.

Thank you for warning us. I almost got drawn in.

Aside from the main point, that if we do chase him, we're doing it mostly for his other strengths, will remind you that he is along with Falcao, Monaco's main penalty taker and he scored 9 penalties last season.

So, we would get someone reliable in that department and not someone who will provide so much extra goal threat from midfield like you suggest.
Penalties? what'd ya mean penalties?

Aww feck him so, leave where he is!

Penalties, well i never

He has fallen out pf favour because of non eu player rule. Also Juve wont be spending 50 million on a midfielder. Think they will try for Nzonzi, matuidi might be available on the cheap too. The stars seem to be aligning for this one. I think and hope this is done before thursday.

Does he say if the bid is rejected or what? Can't read the article on my phone. Also, anything on the players preference and if he has other offers? €50m seems to be quite a hefty offer considering €45m was what was being touted.
