Totally wrong.

Team that scores the most wins. Its that simple. Only have to look at Burnley vs Liverpool last season to prove this. All them stats count for fcuk all.

I can't work out if you're trolling or not.

Just so you're aware, Tottenham scored more goals than Chelsea last season. I should also make you aware that Tottenham didn't win the league.

The point was how his goal tally matters.

Way to take what you want from a point i didn't make
But it doesn't matter. At all.

Carrick scored 24 in 459 games for United. Busquets has 14 in 457 during his career. Makélélé scored 25 in 802.

DMs are not judged on goals. Nor should they be.

I know a lot of journalists don't know their arse from their head, but they make it seem United aren't even sure which DM they want yet.

United fly out to the US in 2 weeks and stay there until just before the season starts. I hope we hurry the feck up and get someone else in.

Who said thats how i was judging him...
The point was made why his goal tally matters. Goals always matter. Simples

But you proved my point. Goals win games, in enough of games spuds did not score enough goals. Chelsea did.

2 legs of Barca vs PSG anybody?

Chelsea conceded fewer than Spurs in those games actually.

The ITK Journos haven't a clue what we are up to. I imagine the Majority of our buissness will be completed before the Team leave for the US .

The fact there has been barely any proper speculation linking him to lots of different clubs apart form United and the fact he is clearly a damn good footballer leads me to believe he has in principle agreed a deal with someone, all the other clubs know about it and it is just a case of when and not if.

Find it very hard to believe no one wants this guy. A potentially world class CDM is always going to be sought after as it is a key position for any top side. I reckon someone has come in with a big offer, he's pretty much agreed to move and there is a hands off situation which everyone in the know is aware of. Similar to how say United usually conduct deals under the radar.

And at such a reasonable fee too.

I'm still yet to understand what Fabinho's goal tally has anything to do with why we should sign him, you don't buy a CDM to bag you bundles of goals.

But, given your logic that goals win games (and yes, yes they do), if we were to sign a centre back woild you choose David Mirfin of Mansfield Town who's netted 20 times in 437 appearances over Philip Lahm of Bayern who's scored a measly 17 goals in 448 apps?

After all, goals win games!

Actually, you are missing the point again!

But just seein as you brough it up. Chelsea Vs Spurs last season, Chelsea scored 6 goals and won twice against spur's 5 goals on one win, in the 3 games last season. Even in the 4-2 cup match. Spurs were the better side for most the game. But didn't take their hat full of chances and lost 4-2

Well neither as i dont think they'd be that good in midfield today. But i would argue Fabinho, as that not only do you get a "holding/defensive" midfielder you get one, who if a chance falls at his feet(or head) can often stick it away. Not forgetting his assists too.

Compare him to Pogba of 9 goals and 5 assists. Ok Pogs was a little unlucky not to score a lot more. This would ALSO give defeces something else to think about.

Taking your logic one stage further, and judging by his comments yesterday, I'd say that team is us. Being even more adventurous, the one no mark GDS journalist who announced he's coming to United was extremely confident in his claim. I mean ridiculously unequivocally confident. Yes, I choose to believe this no mark journalist!

If bakayoko i going to chelsea i think he will stay at Monaco as we will buy Matic ahead of him.

The squad being better has little significance nowadays. And even if it where, we are in a transition period that very few clubs have experienced, and still winning trophies and investing in the best players available.
True and i agree; and you have raised a very good point that it's a very very different transition which not many clubs in the world have ever experienced. But the point was that whether our squad was on par with City or PSG. And if you take man for man, I guess only a couple would walk in to their line ups.

Nothing between us I'd say. All 3 teams can buy practically anyone on the market, It's just a matter of who spends their money better come the end of the transfer window.
This part i agree completely. First part; I don't. I really think City have much much better the attack than other two and PSG has a very established and tightly knit unit; if we had to play them, I'd be very happy with a draw

Proper replacement for Carrick. Got the right height too for a Mourinho player.

I think a lot of our players would walk into either PSG or City's sides. But, even if Psg or City had way better teams than us, from a transfer point of view, it doesn't mean that a player would chose them. Look at our last year's transfers, Pogba was in a better Juventus side, Zlatan in PSG (who I think would've loved him to renew), Mkhitaryan had offers from Arsenal (I might be wrong on this one, it's probably Liverpool, but I am too lazy to check now ).

This thread illustrates perfectly how many people are closet-illiterates and that struggles with reading comprehension in the 21st century are real.

Vieira was one of the best midfielders around. Fabinho isn't anywhere near his level yet.

Yes he has yet to prove himself to be anywhere near Vieira's status. The comparisons are purely aesthetic- both lanky, sizeable players that run with a similar languid gait.

If he were to join us and reach the level of accomplishment of Vieira, that would make this one of the best transfers of the decade for United. We can hope. Fingers crossed he puts our shirt on at all.

Fair enough. Point taken

Aside from the main point, that if we do chase him, we're doing it mostly for his other strengths, will remind you that he is along with Falcao, Monaco's main penalty taker and he scored 9 penalties last season.

So, we would get someone reliable in that department and not someone who will provide so much extra goal threat from midfield like you suggest.

Agree. The fact that journalists are in the dark, only means we are operating under the radar which I prefer. Think we will announce the rest of them in space of few days and all before the tour.

Hope Fabinho will be with them.

Our deal with Lindelof was all over the papers before it was confirmed.

All over the Portugese papers. The English papers were all taking shots in the dark, and only jumped in like a day before the transfer was announced. As much as this method of transfer business is tough for us fans (muppets) to stomach due to the lack of information, it is beneficial for both us, the selling club and the player we are targeting in that they have to face less public spotlight and scrutiny, and the deal can be done with less hitches.

Yeah I agree, lesser the leaks better for the club. I was just saying we didn't operate under the radar when we signed our only player.

Bailly was under the radar signing, no one had a clue, all of a sudden everyone reported it and next day it was done.

compared to the circus of the moyes' summer, or what i see from other clubs, I think we are doing pretty well to be under the radar as much as we can.

Can't argue against that. We were all over the place that summer.

Even iniesta wasn't judged on goals, isn't he at like 60 goals in 700 games or something?

From Portuguese press which can't stop blabbering and linking us with everyone in Portugal. And they finally got it right which I think surprised even them. There were not many other credible links.

And as you already said there is clear progress from Moyes and Ed first transfer window when it comes to public leaks.
