Matić is underrated.
Juventus is basically conveyor belt of sensible transfers.
He was a key player to Mourinho's most recent title winning squad but he's been a shadow of that player ever since. That's not to say he couldn't regain that form. He's obviously got the quality but may not have the mentality to perform at the level consistently every season.
I did a quick search and found a Castles piece from the end of August last summer saying that Mourinho wanted Fabinho to come in as a RB and I don't believe he's linked us with Fabinho since. Saying that, Castles clearly doesn't know everything, but bar the Di Marzio link from 5 weeks ago, there aren't really any other credible sources linking us with Fabinho.

Disappointing if this is off. I've always preferred players who've name dropped United as their preferred destination. Quality ones of course.
The reason there is no news because of his honeymoon. Once he comes back we will see some movement. Till then its all guessing. Fabinho is a very simple deal to do with Mendes his agent and us being his preferred destination. I wont be surprised if its done very quickly.

Yes this is disappointing if it is true. Why do we go after average players like Dier when we can get a good player for good money? We will be paying OTT for Matic or Dier.
They are playing CL and need more than 2 established midfielders. They have Fabregas and Chalobah besides Matic and Kante, i dont think they will sell Matic. They need to strengthen, not replace one for the other

He lost that bite in mf, he cracks under pressure quite too often now (he lost the ball and misplaced pass like 5-6x in the stoppage time against Wales in his last game), and he is fast becoming a liability. Also, I know he was never a speed merchant, but his acceleration also significantly declined. Just can't see him working with Pogba for some reason... Fabinho is the way to go. I'd even go for Dier or try Pereira instead of Matic...

So is the doom and gloom on this thread on back of a couple of English journalist, who are not that reliable, are saying we are not intrested? Or that there hasn't been any news from more reliable sources for a while so it must be off?
If we somehow manage to drop the fecking ball on this then it explains the shitshow we have become since Fergie left. Here we have a player interested, who would suit us, help us get the best out of Pogba and wouldn't cost a bomb but we want to throw ourselves at Levy's or Abramovic's feet for average players who would cost double what Monaco would demand.

I think he's really good, but if it's a why you're after, I'd suggest it might be down to the fact he may want a more restrained, more sitting-type midfielder e.g. Matic. From what I've seen, Fabinho gets around the pitch, whereas Jose has always liked someone minding the shop in front of the back four.
Hope I'm wrong, though. I think he could do a great job for us in there.
Hopefully Jose is watching the England game... would rule Dier out as a Fabinho alternative completely - he's a shambles.
