Fabinho

Its a rumour without credible substance because not a single credible newspapers are reporting any type of news on Fabinho.

Eh he has been mentioned at the bottom of other articles, but there has been no substantive reports beyond 'united want him'

I have to agree with the point of view that it doesn't sound right. Many a player take a break from their holidays to complete a contract with a new club especially of United's status.

Either its all media rumours without real substance or his club haven't given him clearance thus far.
Ah but those cases are usually later in the window. It's still early days yet, the only rush is for muppets.

And Di Marzio linked us to him - as good as any newspaper for me.

He wants to come here clearly but it all comes down to if Jose wants him.

Well, given that there was some interest last season and his agent being Jorge Mendes, I'm fairly certain (given how we need to reinforce that position with Carrick being on his last legs) we have to be amongst those in the running to get him.

From that article itself

With that, comes interest from Europe’s top clubs. Carrasco is now at Atletico Madrid and Martial at Manchester United, who made serious moves to lure Fabinho to the club in the summer.

“There was some contact,”
the Brazilian right-back-cum-holding midfielder confirms to FFT. “Not with me, no-one got to speak with me, but with my agent. I also saw a lot going on in the press. I’m happy to be linked with big clubs but if nothing real and clear happens, it doesn’t mean a thing, does it? That’s why I keep on working.”

“My objective is to get to a club with the dimension of Manchester United – I have no clue if one day I’ll be a United player, but I’ll keep on working so it stops being a rumour and becomes reality,” he explains.

Jesus, seems pretty clear he has a bit of a stiffy for us. This one's an open goal, Ed!

His father who is also his advisor, said that they a soft spot for City, so I wouldn't make any conclusion from what they say.

Definitely interested in a move to a new club name drops us and few others so its a positive.

True but surely Mourinho can't prefer Fellani or carrick as a starter over a player like Fabinho, we have to be in the market for a DM our squad would be weak otherwise.

Hey, less of the doom and gloom what kind of muppet attitide is that?

Stay positive :D

I'm not negative, I'm just honest with myself. There is a chance that he joins us, a good chance. But I'm not going to invent a narrative around how he dreams to join specifically United because that would be a lie.

For all the credible sources being used.

I think hes coming.

Am I ITK too now???

JM loves Rashford as well and he even said he liked him. So I don't know why you ruled him out from your dream of theatre dream XI. And why Morata is right winger?

Perisic Belotti Morata

vs

Neymar Suarez Messi OR
Ronaldo Benzema Bale OR
Robben Lewandowski Muller OR
Hazard Lukaku Pedro OR
Alli Kane Eriksen OR
De Bruyne Silva Aguero Benardo OR
Reus Aubameyang Dembele

I must say I'm not too confident with that front three when I look at other club's attackers.

I sense a misconstrued contradiction here. It's not my dream XI. My dream XI at OT would be much more fancier. I just tried to make sense of our transfer targets and figure out what's Mourinho plotting.

And, you've yourself mentioned the top 433 attacks in Europe. The wide-attacker in 433 is not considered a winger. Whereas, the wide-attacker in 4231 is generally a winger and the wide-attacker in 442 is usually a wide-midfielder. Having two of the best shuttlers in Pogba and Herrera would allow Morata and Perisic to act as inside forwards rather than wingers. That way, we'll have more bodies inside the box. And, I see that most of us are considering Morata as a proper No.9. With his height, he can be a perfect 9 for Spain, but he's not physical enough to be the No.9 for Premier League. That's why, we are still going for Belotti.

Also, it is true that our attack in 433 doesn't look more glorious than the famous BBC or MSN. But, what makes a 433 work is not only the front 3, but also the mid 3. Take FCB for example. Even though MSN are prolific goal scorers, they suffered this season primarily because of an inconsistent midfield. Injuries to Busquets and decline of Iniesta saw them lose their backbone. Still, they scored the highest number of goals in Europe's top 5 leagues. In case of Real Madrid, with Kroos they had the best deep-lying playmaker and in Modric they had a formidable BBM. While Casemiro provided enough cover, the BBC flourished.

When I say our 433 is going to be the most formidable, it is because of midfield support. While Kroos is a terrific passer, he is not as mobile as Pogba. And I feel Herrera is better than Modric. Of course, if we had MSN or BBC or at least Griezmann, we'd be much better. But with a midfield like ours and the strong defense that we already have, the attack that Mourinho seems to be going for (PBM), is enough to be formidable.

Why is this constantly bumped? No reliable news whatsoever out there.

Just saw a tweet by Pilib de Brún saying we're in talks with his reps.

From memory last year he was a bit of a w*nker, so nothing concrete yet.

How reliable is Mike Keegan then

So we can't use positive tweets as gospel, but as soon as somebody from MEN says something it's doom and gloom

Positive tweets from people who literally no feck all. Not even one of them was remotely reliable. Ifl I go on Twitter now and say 'Fabiniho to United done deal' will it be a positive tweet? Because it's literally the equivalent of what this thread has been running on.

Close thread. Pilib made a classic mistake, by going with the flow and gospel he exposed himself to being a bullshitter again.

None of them are reliable. Not Keegan not Pilib and not Delaney.

Literally no different than what Keegans done though. Who's told him what? No weight behind what he's said. Could just be getting in there first to look clever incase no deal happens.

Di marzio has already said we've got a DM on the list, so it's Fabinho, dier or somebody else. I think Fabinho is pretty likely myself.

It's clear that we're working on Perisin and Morata's deals more than Fabinho currently so why are people worried ? I'm sure we'll move officially for him within the next 2 weeks.

This is one of those transfers where if it happens it shows ITKs are more valuable than actual press and if it doesn't happen it shows the press ITKs are proven as liars.

EDIT: Worded it wrong, it's early

There is something called a mobile phone, he doesnt need to be in Monaco to get the deal done verbally
Who's to say it's not verbally agreed and he's just enjoying his break? Nothing would be announced on a verbal agreement either way, just let him have a break from football and continue talks after it.

Surely someone would have more knowledge then, like ongoing negotiation, looking good etc

I mean, he's clearly gone to "somebody" in the club, since when do they ever admit to being interested in a player unless it's completed?

What he's done is call up the club and asked for a comment about United's interest in Fabinho. He'll have been put onto the director of communications. This person has little fecking clue about who we're signing until he has to know. So Keegan says "are United buying Fabinho?", the DOC would say "no interest in him, as far as I know". Which, technically is correct and above board, because he didn't know at that time. Plausible deniability. It keeps the relationship with the media solid because it means the club hasn't been lying to them directly, the DOC simply wasn't told the ins and outs of every deal. So when Keegan posts that's what he's been told, he's relaying the info he's been fed, and nothing more.

United denied any interest in Darmian to anyone who asked the day before we signed him, in fact.

I actually believe A DM such as Fabinho would be our most important signing of this window, it would release Pogba to influence our attack and get to the levels he is capable of, yes for sure we need a world class #9 but for the sake of the team we need a water carrier.
