Fabinho

IMO By far our most important signing this window.

Even if Herrera did a very good job he isn't a defensive mid. His instinct is to press forward when we lose possession and that's not ideal in this position. Fabinho reminds me of a Brasilian hybrid between Carrick and Viera.

One of many problems we had last season was our slow transformation from defensive to offensive mood. Whenever we had a chance to counter our midfielders was to predictable and/or opted to pass backwards.

Monaco was great when they counter attacked and it often started when Fabinho got the ball and made a U turn and then stormed forward in full pelt. Great to watch. I hope Mourinho use him the same way (if he) plying for us because we need a new dimension in our build up. That's one of the things I miss most since Fergie left.

Apart from that his presence will give Valencia (and hopefully Mendy) more freedom to bomb forward. Another part of our build up I miss.
Exactly this. Sometimes one player is much more important than just their own ability, and it's often a def mid.... look at Kante and how he made a difference to Leicester and now, Chelsea.

Gives extra cover when needed for the defence, breaks up oppo attacks but most importantly (for me) is allowing the more attacking players to do what THEY do..... especially hoping that next season, Pogba is focussing on going forward not coming back

A DM is the new #1 priorty after taking care of CB and ST now. Would love this signing.

Many many outlets carrying this now, but all blaming independant sources in france and the O Jogo dude.

The same ones that been reported here

Couldnt find his girlfriend on Instagram, but his last post is of him on his holidays in some uniON flag swimming shorts.

Very exciting player to have. The room he'll giv3 Herrera and Pogba will add massively to our attack.

Great that he has openly spoke about wanting to play for us, exactly the type of players we need.

Perfect long term replacement for Carrick in my opinion. Would control the midfield with this guy alongside, Pogba and Herrera.

At least his girlfriend is showing a desire to come and live in sunny Manchester, unlike some wags..

Fabinho to United and Fellaini to some Turkish club?

I've yet to see one credible link. It's all been ITKs. I refuse to get sucked in. Not ready for any disappointment.

The more I watch this guys video's, the more I'm convinced that even if we signed just him and Morata, Fabinho is that vital a signing we would be top 2-3 minimum in the league and we would be likely to reach knock out stages of CL.

He is an upgrade on Carrick, in the sense he is very 'press-resistant' and is so nimble on the ball, very Busquet-esque as you can't nick the ball off him, dude is ice cold in possession and very good at passing through midfield lines, so rarely passes it sideways or back.

Type of guy who could play CDM for any team in the game and excel. He'd take our possession game up a notch and 100% will get the ball off the defenders and ensure the passing back to De Gea to hoof days are gone. Very classy operator, who technically looked more than a match for likes of City/Spurs so instantly by having him, Herrera and Pogba in the same midfield, I think we'd probably end up having the best midfield in the league and more likely to hold our own in the big games.

The most exciting thing about Fabinho for me is that imo he would help get the best out of Pogba.

Also I wouldn't like to be a midfielder up against Fabinho and Pogba. And not just because they'd both tower over me

Trabzonspor. Yet, I doubt it is real. Fellaini won't be cheap and I am not sure they can splash that kind of cash on him.
Last year of contract, going to be 30 this season. I think he is nailed on to leave if we dont renew him this summer. 10-12 million euros for him with last year in contract is a decent deal.

Getting annoying how no credible sources are reporting this, just random Italian men with beards.

Not even sure he'd leave for as much as €45m. He was on the market for about £20m last summer, and I'm pretty sure there were reports that said Monaco had agreed to allow him to leave for that amount this summer.

The reports were that Monaco wanted at least 30m€.

As much as i want him i also think we need another midfielder.

We have Pogba and Herrera, hopefully we get Fabinho. Then we are left with Carrick, Blind and Fellaini? Huge drop in quality.

Don't forget Pereira

Ah okay, not too far from £20m then.

But that was then, not now. Also Fabinho didn't leave last summer because his family told him to stay at Monaco, Fabinho isn't unhappy at Monaco and doesn't really push for a move which means that Monaco can ask for more money.

And I'm not saying that he isn't going to move but just that Monaco aren't in a difficult spot.
