Fabinho

He should be exactly the player we need right now and for the future. On top of the fact that he should be more than affordable for us and we should have the power outbid everyone else. Obviously if he doesn't want to play for us than this would be a moot point, but if it isn't, what the hell? Dier and Matic are such unrealistic and expensive targets. On top of the fact that we just missed out on Ruben Neves for this season. If by the end of the window we didn't fought hard to get him, I would be really baffled. I have no idea just what is Jose's plan for a defensive midfielder for upcoming seasons.

There have been a few reports that Jose has been pretty happy with Shaw in the post-season so hopefully he can get a better chance. Hopefully we could get quite a strong and balanced squad.

De Gea

Valencia
Lindelof
Bailly
Shaw

Herrera
Fabinho
Pogba

Mkhi
Lukaku
???

Subs: Romero, Rashford, Martial, Mata, Carrick, Jones, Blind
Reserve: Axel, TFM etc to bleed in to the first team
Can't understand why people seem to prefer a less offensive 4-3-3 instead of the more attacking (Mourinho's) 4-2-3-1, when last season we bundled lots of chances. If (I don't believe it) we're going 4-3-3, at least dream big and play two wing-forwards there. Of course, Mkhitaryan and Mata would have nowhere to go…

How the feck does someone go on a month vacation? That's insane. Not to mention it's probably the most relevant time for his job...

Because like I said many times, Bouhafsi is only a face fro RMCsport. His presence is irrelevant.

Every French people have at least 5 weeks of vacation every year so it's not uncommon to take a full month off.

Although Bouhafsi started as "the transfer guy" at RMC he's now more involved in the real football RMC and SFR programs than just silly season stuff.

I don't think United knew we were in for Lukaku on Wednesday. It seems to have come together at the last minute.

It seems very unlikely we panic bid 75m for Lukaku when we spent so long trying to avoid paying that much for Morata. If we were willing to pay that much why wouldn't we have just paid it to Madrid for Morata if he was our first choice?

Clearly Lukaku has been our first choice and is rated highest by Mou otherwise we'd never have offered so low for Morata compared to what we're signing Lukaku for.

I think we was. It is now obvious that we weren't going to wrap up the Morata deal until we were sure Lukaku was gone. As soon as we got the go ahead from his camp we dropped Morata like a sack of shit and went full throttle.

Everyone in Norway goes on a month vacation   I guess France is the same.

Won't be surprised to see the Morata deal still go through. Will be even better if we also announce Fabinho out of the blue. Just those 2 and this transfer window is done for me.

I'm convinced we're in for him. I hope we see movement on this soon.

We need to sign at least one midfielder. Now that we have signed a CB and a striker, this position becomes our highest priority now.

A winger is still the priority for me. We do need a #6, though, if we're playing 4-2-3-1 (or a #8 if we're going 4-3-3).

So, every deadline given by twitter journalists have come and gone. Someone explain what we're waiting for?

DMs need more time than attacker to gel with the rest of the squad so I hope we get this one done before preseason ends so he can get a few games in with the team.

Read PSG have had second offer rejected...Mon want 50m.... father said they really like Mourinho but have a bit if a soft spot for Citeh

I get that the caf wants him, but is there any plausible evidence that Mourinho does? The absence of any updates in the thread title seems telling.

Seems a while ago now, but didn't United specifically brief the press we "weren't interested?"

And while you can't trust what big clubs say, when was the last time we did such a thing and then bought the player?

According to that Duncan Castles piece last week, Fabinho is on the list of players Mourinho handed to Wooodward in March, but he's not one of the top targets for midfield or fullback. I suppose it's possible we'd move for him if he hasn't gone elsewhere and we'd exhausted Mourinho's preferred options, but I imagine he'll be at PSG by then.

How can this thread still warrant its existence? We are so very clearly not signing Fabinho. We couldn't have shown less interest if we tried. The player himself is now also approaching levels of Caf overrating, that it's going to become a thing of legend. He's good, but he's not that good to warrant all this teeth gnashing.

yes, the club did that.

Good question, cant remember it, must be a long time if at all. Things can change, but i would be surprised if we are interested. Thats statement from the club killed all hope, we did something similar with Griezmann, even if there the dynamics were different, as soon as the club briefed it was over it really was

Therefore, with Fabino, Matic and Dyer all seeming to be off, it'll be interesting what we do in midfield.
We cannot to any extent go into the season with Carrick and Fellaini the only support to the main pair.

Wonder if it might be helpful to us is Real Madrid pry Mbappe away from Monaco? Right now there are stories (no idea if true or not) that Mbappe will only hang around if Monaco keep their other stars.

And aside from Mbappe himself there's talk of at least three who may be going - Bakayoko, Mendy and Fabinho.

No Matic or Dier now, Naingolan not leaving according to Monchi.

Who's left apart from Fabinho?

I think we are trying to throw the press off as much as possible this summer.

That said we may not be in for Fabinho. The press thinks it's Matic or Dier but is it really?

hijack Tiemoue Bakayoko?

What’s the story?
Yet, before Chelsea fans start losing it, questions have to be raised about the Sun’s Bakayoko updates.

The red-top couch their update in reports from third parties, including the Daily Mail, however the tabloid unhelpfully fails to provide links to their apparent sources.

Nevertheless, readers are told the following:

Chelsea are in danger of being beaten by Manchester United to ANOTHER transfer target – with Monaco growing tired of the Blues chase of Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Daily Mail claim their move for Bakayoko has stalled and is now unlikely to go through.

Have a feeling it won't be any of the three, but we will sign a midfielder.

Every other defensive midfielder that have been good for less than visible (i.e. regularly in the CL) teams. It's a lot harder to pick them out randomly since they don't score many goals or assists.

Kante is the perfect example of this. He went from nobody to best CM in the premier league (per SAF) within 12 months.

We will be fine signing any other name than the ones linked. Especially as Jose sets the team up soundly

Now that would be hilarious, but isn't he more Box to Box as opposed to a holding/DM?

I wouldn't be surprised if we went for a box to box. We lost Schweini and Schneiderlin and Carrick's career is winding down. It wouldn't be that surprising if ontop of a DM we got another midfielder and a box to box like Bakayoko is exactly the type of player we don't have and could benefit from greatly
