Signing Lukaku from under Chelsea's nose will surely wind them up enough to forbid the sale of Matić to us.
This chain of events might lead us directly to Fabinho's door.
Maybe we planned this all along? Chelsea waited for us to conclude Matic so they could buy Bakayoko. We take Fabinho so Monaco don't need to sell to Chelsea and then we buy Lukaku with Chelsea not having the free money to go for him.
Or we smoke screen the shit out of the place and get WeiglWe let Fabinho go to PSG, Chelsea fail to sign Bakayoko and we fail to land Matic.
What a clusterfeck that would be.
People are getting carried away with smoke screens and deception tactics, it's not a game of poker it's real business, we really need a DM and regardless of who wants who, the market is small, Fabinho fits the bill and seems available, so does Matic, I believe we will sign one of them and the consequences don't bother me.
Signing Fabinho seems the better option, signing Matic is dependant on Chelsea getting a replacement and their reaction to us signing Lukaku, churlish as it is Chelsea will be conscious that we strengthen to the point we are a serious threat to their supremacy, I hope they see selling us Matic is not a good move and we sign Fabinho
Its looking more off than on right now. But thats is still 50/50 in numbers.
Yep, using Lukaku logic and speed. Its all we can say. But we do know Jose wants the new signings on the plane...
So it's looking equally on as it is off then?
I just dont think this is happening. I think its more realistic that we are in for Matic and Dier unfortunately
Or just sign Fabinho and Dembele with that moneyLet's sign him and mbappe, give them £150million and close the cheque book till next summer.
I may be naive, but I can't see huge financial institutions (football clubs) playing mind games, I truly believe we take a business like approach to transfers, albeit with a managers desire for player xy&z.Football transfer business is all about deception tactics and playing one club against the other in order to get the best deal. Even more so in a small market with sought-after players.
The straight forward transfers are, in my opinion, only for 3 scenarios: 1. medium club going for medium player, 2. big club going for medium player, 3. small club going for small player
When you have the case of big club(s) going for big player, things get murky. The media play a strong part in sending off trails, and I feel there is a fair amount of deception and sneakiness to it all. I don't mind it being like this because, as evidenced over the past 24 hours, we're not bad at it.

Lukaku is a great signing on and off the field, it did'nt come up as a conversation while senior people met for a coffee, it's a business decision, BIG business, these transfers are not done just to spite a rival.
Then you are indeed naivethese transfers are not done just to spite a rival.
I work for a larger (in terms of $) company, and all we do are mind games.I may be naive, but I can't see huge financial institutions (football clubs) playing mind games
If we move quickly for Fabinho we could feck up Bakayoko to Chelsea as well.
Would make it extra sweet.

We are in need of a winger more than a defensive midfielder, in my opinion. We got our striker, we've bought a defender...now we need a DM...sign this kid up Woodward..put that fanny pack to good use!

How many wingers do we have that are good enough? We need both equally, we only have 2 CM's that are good enough.

We don't need a striker anymoreLet's sign him and mbappe, give them £150million and close the cheque book till next summer.

No need to be greedy. I very much doubt we'll sign Fabinho, seems like no one has a clue what we're up to for the midfield positionWho cares -- we need to start acting like the biggest club in the world and feck royally RM for a change.
No of course not. We only buy him if he's wanted. But the method of buying him, the subterfuge, leaks, rival bids, trying to get Chelsea to waste weeks chasing a lost cause etc.... I'm certain we do that.Fair shout, I've never worked in finance so maybe cold hard cash has a different value to me, my original point was that we surely have't spent the thick end of £100m just to 'spite' Chelsea, he must have already been on our wish list, if that's how football (we) do our business then I spect us to be buying Sanchez to spite City, Kieta to spite Liverpool, MBappé to spite PSG etc etc

Stunning lack of interest in this guy from the top clubs, a lot of clubs could do with him.
Perhaps the scouts are seeing something us armchair critics don't.
Everyone was convinced Kryschowiak would be the dogs bollocks for PSG when they signed him as well and was pissed their teams wasn't in for him, and he turned out shite.
No Shatic,no Shitinho
