Fabinho

I don't believe he's the number one target but I think he's waiting to see the outcome of who is.....

I'm convinced there is an issue with Mendes, since the DDG fax debacle we haven't bought any of his players.

Is there an issue?

Except mourinho. And pretty sure he brokered the Bailly deal and he apparently helped with pogba deal

Sorry mate, Im not getting what you mean either nor it's relevance. Are you saying there is a ceiling for this player's valuation, and we have now reached it?

No I am saying that we have conceivably reached the point of impasse where clubs are no longer willing to keep paying increasing amounts for players. That is one of the reasons why we are seeing a lack of movement across the entire transfer market. Peak Player is like 'Peak Oil' in the general shape of the price curve and also in terms of the inevitability of it arriving one day.

Not be ruled out another attempt of the PSG , which has absolute need to find a replacement for Thiago Motta, but it's much more likely that the future Fabinho is in the Premier League, with Manchester United ready to raise his first offer about 10 days ago.

Hopefully true.

This feels like the weirdest potential transfer of ours ever, when did we last have so much talk from such a wide range of sources, all with no reliability, this consistently? Its like they know we fans want him, but the club actually doesnt at all

To be fair, both Bouhafsi and Di Marzio said we were interested in him.

Get it done Ed, ffs. Match the Monaco offer and he's surely ours.
Haven't we already offered 50m for him? Anyway it doesn't matter what we offer, as it sounds like the player has closen to play for psg. It's them, or nothing imo.

According to the guy who wrote the article, he feels that Fabinho would rather join us than PSG. All the parties, if true, seem willing to want this transfer - Monaco wants to sell abroad, Fabinho wants to come, and we seem interested. He also did say that our previous offer was 35m + 5m Euros. Maybe Di Marzio's and Bouhafsi's 50m offer was with salary, add-ons or maybe it was the price that Juventus heard we would go up to, hence they backed off. Let's hope it happens.

This gone over my head but where did you get that from?

Reports coming out last week that he agreed terms with psg, and also apparently psg only bid when they have agreed with player

Dont mean to be pedantic here but peak oil is predicated on the idea that there is a finite amount of oil and that one day it will not be possible to extract as much oil out of the ground, therefore supply starts to crash. If anything peak oil would suggest the price of oil would increase more rapidly, as supply wouldn't be able to keep up with demand - unless new and viable sources of energy were found to replace it of course.

What you are suggesting is that clubs might not be willing to keep paying more for players, which is quite a different thing. Its more the bursting of the football bubble.

I dont think we're seeing that either to be honest, though things are crazy and it seems impossible for them to keep going on like this forever.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me. Hope you are right, sanity needs to kick in at some point, but the closer we get to the end of the window the more desperate the clubs looking to buy will become. That's what many of the 'sellers' seem to be waiting for, they know the longer these saga's drag on there is an ever increasing pressure being placed upon clubs by fans and media to satisfy the seemingly insatiable lust for the new and exciting.

Will sanity prevail over desperation? I have my doubts about that this window personally, but as u suggest it can't keep going on like this forever. Something will have to give eventually...... won't it?

Seems like everybody wants this transfer apart from Mourinho. Very strange, why are we bidding if we don't want him?

If we really have bid 45m Euros then why isn't the deal agreed already?

Maybe Woodward knows that Fabinho prefers us over PSG and is using this as a negotiating tactic to bring down the price as Monaco would obviously prefer to sell abroad. Or maybe we are just not interested

Ever since the Matic rumours resurfaced last week Ive lost all confidence in this one happening.

Matic rumors itself has dried now.

I think we may get both. Matic now and Fabinho during the tour.

Maybe because people haven't actually watched him play, nor do they know what Jose is planning and what type of player he needs. Basically the logic is Fabinho is a DM, he played well last season for a team who played very well. Therefore we should sign him and he must be amazing. It's incredibly simplistic and we have no idea whether he's the right fit for Jose.

I'm not against questioning signings and debating the merits of these things. I'm just sure almost no one has watched Fabinho play more than once or twice and actually has first hand knowledge of what type of player he is.

For what it's worth, I think there's no guarantee this guy comes in and is instantly world class, he's played 1 good season at DM and we don't know how he will fit in our side and whether his qualities are the ones we need. In my mind the perfect DM for us is a Kante type, very energetic and covers a lot and protects the defence. I've seen Fabinho described (from people who've watched him) as a Tiago/Gabi style from Atletico and from that it doesn't really seem like he's the Kante style
