Fabiano Ready To Move On

We were heavily linked with him before he left Brazil iirc.. I do not know why but I seriously think SAF will sign him.. There are quite a few names I can think of if we were to sign a striker though..

Should also fit us in the sense that he'd probably retire around about the same time Welbeck & Macheda are ready to take the first team duties.

As a £10M stop gap while we see if any of our young strikers really have what it takes, he makes perfect sense.

He's 30 this year, so please not. Sign younger players who can stay here for longer.

Too old, good player but you cannot spend 20-25 million for a 30's, same discourse for Forlan

When was the last time a Brazilian ST rocked the Premier League?

For 7m I'd take him though.

Robinho was good at City until he decided he didn't want to be there, he'll probably be decent for them next season if he stays.

Other than that I don't recall any proven Brazilian strikers in Premier League, so there hasn't been much space for them to succeed.

Every time a Fabiano thread gets bumped, I end up repeating the same thing, that I think it's highly unlikely that we are going to be after him, as apparently a few summers ago, he could be bought for £8.6m.

I doubt if we weren't interested at that price that we would be interested now, with him being more expensive and older

If we were to buy a striker there is no chance it would be him. If I was the manager that would be my consensus too. Great player, but like all the other 30 year old players in the world.. it just doesn't make sense to buy them. Unless you're Real Madrid where you do everything that is the exact opposite of sense.

How can you say he would not be worth it? At 30 hes not getting any younger agreed but hes a seasoned pro who can give us at least 3-4 years service and when you consider the talented young strikers we have coming through would having a stop gap player to ease their transaction into the first team be a bad thing?

Granted i havent seen too much of him but he seems to be a strong CF who likes to play on the shoulder of defenders and seems to be a able finisher (not just by tonights goal but his overall record) which is what many of us think we have been lacking. The only issue i have with him is the same point others have risen if he is capable of keeping up with the pace of our league

Ive been saying for a long time that this guy was the player we needed so tha tour young strikers had time to develop but no one agreed with me until now!!
Now he is worth a fortune. I dont see much benefit siging yet anoter unproven striker. Hernandez is great but what are we going to do with all of our young unproven strikers? Fabiano is a fighter and would have thrived in England

I really doubt we'll buy a striker now. I've read a few articles about hernandez recently, most recently in this months world soccer, suggesting he really has the talent to be the bollocks. I think we'll see a lot of him next year.

Would have him in a second for anything upto 15 million. He'd easily be second top scorer for us and gives us more mobility and options as it allows Rooney to drop deeper in games where teams park the bus.

everyones got thoughts on this no value for money but isn't that sir Alex admitting berbatov was too much?Being cautious? That said I never know why the Ronaldo fee was announced the way it was. It was stupid by us and it'd have killed madrids ego to have been gagged as a condition of the deal :(

Fabiano is clearly a goalscorer - I suppose it depends on Kiko and Hernandez -it is nice to see a player wanting to come to United doing well though

I hope you are right. But my gut instinct says we wont. No value for money, and all that crap.

Dont buy that. There's money there. If the right player is available at the right money we'll get him. I think fergie has reassessed his tactics given that the last few big money signings haven't lived up to their pricetags.

Maybe we could even get Kanoute, his superior club team mate.

 A lazy man who refuses to play when Islam has some sort of thing going on. Good luck on Ramadan. He's older and has already proven he can't score in the PL.

Fabiano has a crazy ass attitude that can get you far in this league. Better finisher than Rooney. Would partner him well.

Just in case some people aren't aware, he has had two major problems at every club:

The first is settling at new clubs in Europe in terms of adjusting to the team, adjusting to the new surroundings and even getting used to new training regimes. This has carried through to his form on the pitch, too. Went to Rennes as a 19 year old and flopped so badly he went back to Brazil without a goal. Went to Porto as a 24 year old(for very decent money) and again flopped, going to Sevilla after his first season with just 3 goals. And while he has been successful at Sevilla, his first season was again very unsuccessful with only 7 goals in 37 appearances and as an insurance signing Kerzhakov was brought in. From then on he started to impress, but when you're spending decent money on a 30 year old you want instant success and he far from guarantees that.

He's got a notoriously bad temper, which span from his crazy jump kick at Sao Paolo to his embarassing 'fight' against Diogo at Sevilla. Besides that there's been multiple red cards for elbowing, along with reports of fighting in training in Rennes and kicking his own player in training back in Brazil. He might not be the most mentally capable for a big club.

Oh, and there's the whole can he play with Rooney argument.

Thats what you say. I dont think so.

We have not signed any big names during the past year, because I feel we have buggarall to spend.

Anyway, I hope I am wrong, because whats going on now with the finances is scary.

Yeap. We didn't buy Valencia. Shame. Could have been a great player for us.
