Tbf I kind of get it. Piastri is a better driver, Norris knows this is perhaps his one chance to get a WDC despite how slim the opportunity is. Similarly it may be the opportunity for Mclaren due to the upcoming rule change.

Yeah he’s desperate as I can’t see him getting close to a title again, it just feels a bit hollow when you need your team mate to hand you the position, if you want to be a WDC you have got to be quick enough to beat every driver in merit.

I agree it's crap. I think next season McLaren won't be so nice and Piastri will be No. 1.
 
Are you allowed to go alongside someone under a virtual safety car?

Might that be the issue?

Either way will it matter? I assume it’s a 5s penalty or is it something else? If 5s was he 5s ahead of Leclerc?

Otherwise he just mistimed the delta which would be a shitty reason to get a penalty as the actual change to a green flag is entirely arbitrary presumably.

They are an overly fair team and Norris is still the better driver at this stage (might be different next year). They will have joint number 1s again.

The reality is that Norris shouldn’t be having to stress about his teammate at this stage of the season. RB would have ordered Perez to quit and go and make Max’s pre-race cocoa if by some miracle he was ever ahead of Max in that scenario and didn’t immediately let him past and act as a shield.
 
Next season is a different kettle of fish, but right now, anything but McLaren favouring Norris at every opportunity is gross mismanagement as a team.
 
I’ve just checked and Leclerc is within 5s of Max, Sainz isn’t. So if Max does get 5s he’d drop a place.

Although I don’t know what a typical penalty is for that kind of infringement, if indeed he did actually breach any rule.

I don't think it's sustainable in this market to have joint number 1s but McLaren are daft enough to try it again going on the basis of this season.

They would have done it at the end, I think. But at the risk of a safety car (or virtual safety car) to the end, they had to do it there or risk not being able to do so in that situation.
 
So the question is what can Ferrari to do amend car setup for the race to get the race pace back as they were clearly slower than both McLaren and Red Bull in this sprint.

Unfortunately the Red Bull looks very fast, even Perez was going through the field when usually he gets bogged down, need him to have a poor qualifying so Max is isolated

Doesn't make Herbert being a steward or those with McLaren ties any less problematic. As most drivers are in support of - they need to be full time paid positions and fully independent.
 
I mean he was literally alongside Piastri’s back wheels before it went green. Not much controversy really, when rationally looked at.

Red Bull looks quick anyway, he will win the main race.

the whole sport decided it wasn’t independent in 2021. it’s a wwe entertainment style business where decisions are manufactured based on what sells. max dominating doesn’t sell, just like hamilton didn’t. reap what you sow.
