F1 2024 Season

Verstappen sets the early pace in SQ1
It was Max Verstappen who set the pace in qualifying with a 1:05.690. Russell was just behind him with a 1:05.764, followed by Carlos Sainz (1:05.781).
A strong showing from Lance Stroll in the Aston Martin as well, finishing fifth in SQ1 in between the McLaren pair of Norris and Piastri.

Mercedes are having a look underneath the car of Lewis Hamilton, who just got through SQ1.

Hamilton went wide at Turn Six, so may have damaged the floor. The tyres weren't ready for Hamilton on his first SQ1 lap and he had so much traffic on his lap which got him through.

Big job to turn things around for Hamilton in Sprint Qualifying and find some performance.

Let's skip 90% of SQ3 and then all run out chase the time.

Ferrari doing Ferrari things

Perez doing Perez things

Feck sake Leclerc and Ferrari.

Perez 1.3 seconds slower than Max in such a short track is embarassing once again. He should just give up and change the sport.

Hamilton with another error strewn Quali, him in a Ferrari might look like a clown show between them both.

It's probably someone else's fault again.

Top 10 in Sprint Qualifying
1) Max Verstappen, Red Bull
2) Lando Norris, McLaren
3) Oscar Piastri, McLaren
4) George Russell, Mercedes
5) Carlos Sainz, Ferrari
6) Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes
7) Sergio Perez, Red Bull
8) Esteban Ocon, Alpine
9) Pierre Gasly, Alpine
10) Charles Leclerc, Ferrari

They're unlocked again after the sprint tomorrow though are they not, with the new rules? They can make changes before GP qualifying tomorrow.

Possibly, I genuinely don't have enough interest anymore to check.

I think their(Perez and the Alpines) warm ups got messed up with them getting out of the pits so late

That's correct. They can make changes after the sprint race to car setup for race qually.

RedBull civil war between Jos Verstappen and Horner continues.

Totto must be desperate for Mercedes to win GPs again this season. His 0.0000001% chance of landing Verstappen for 2025 depends on it

I really think Max's time at RedBull in nearing its end , unless the get rid of Horner , but thats not going to happen.
Mercedes is the only team I think that would afford him, I would also say Ferrari but not with Lewis going there.

It maybe why Sainz hasnt confirmed his choice of drive for 2025. If theres an outside chance of being in a RedBull next season up againt pitiful perez, you gotta take it.

In the highly unlikely event Max did end up at Mercedes for 2025, it would leave RedBull screwed in the driver market. Sainz would be the only available top level driver who isnt under contract till 2026.

This was from 2 days ago.

SPIELBERG, Austria -- After months of speculation over his future, Max Verstappen has confirmed he will remain at Red Bull in 2025, ruling out a switch to rivals Mercedes.

This from today.

Martin Brundle is not convinced that the Max Verstappen to Mercedes transfer saga is over yet despite the World Champion hinting that he will remain with Red Bull for F1 2025.
Despite holding a contract until the end of the F1 2028 season, Verstappen has been heavily linked with a move away from Red Bull amid the off-track dramas engulfing the team.
Max Verstappen to Mercedes back on for F1 2025?
Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team boss, has made no secret of his desire to sign the three-time World Champion as the successor to Lewis Hamilton, who announced in February that he will join Ferrari on a multi-year contract from F1 2025.
PlanetF1.com revealed ahead of last month’s Monaco Grand Prix that Mercedes had cooled their interest in Carlos Sainz, the driver Hamilton will replace at Ferrari, in order to keep tabs on Verstappen’s situation at Red Bull.
However, Wolff told media including PlanetF1.com at last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix that Mercedes are no longer in “talks” with Verstappen, amid growing expectations that the team will promote 17-year-old sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli as George Russell’s new team-mate.

This is brilliant to watch,, Mclaren might have just saved this season.

Tyre management ruining what was a great battle, Max now opening up a gap

Did tyre management used to be such a thing?
