F1 2024 Season

Qualifying is at 3pm, right?
Yes. Verstappen will be on pole.

He did a secret test at imola last week with the RB18 (last year's car). RedBull trying to understand why this year's car is struggling at certain tracks. So wanted comparison data.

Also RedBull had the engine turned down yesterday and were experimenting in both FP's. That's ominous.

Barcelona is almost perfect racing track, great combination of corners, it's just missing one or two more overtaking places, even though watching F2 there are lot of overtaking opportunities unlike in F1 where they just use DRS on main straight. But it would be fecking great driving something fast around here.

I’m a bit baffled how riled up they get in practice sessions now, “we talkin about practice”.

We're probably going to see 4 teams within a tenth of each other here, and for the rest of the season. Next season could be the most competitive season in the history of F1 with 4 teams and 6 top class drivers fighting for wins.

1 season, then the competitiveness gets completely destroyed for half a decade, again.

This is true but one thing that people miss in the rule changes, who say the rules should stay the same, is that the teams ahead often put more time towards the new season/rules earlier. Part of the reason why everyone bunches up is because they stop developing as they know they have a tenth or two more in hand.

Crofty stoking the lewis conspiracy theories, based on one Q1 lap. What a cretin.

What's the poing of Sargeant? What's the point of someone bringing you money if he is going to end up last in every race?

BBC: This makes Sainz's decision harder. Both Williams o at the bottom of the pack, both Sauber's into Q2

Wonder if Sainz has signed off on that Williams contract yet :wenger:

McLaren fire update: One team member in hospital as precaution
A further statement from McLaren on their earlier hospitality fire:
"This morning a fire was detected in our trackside Team Hub.
"The team hub was evacuated of all staff and guests, and circuit emergency services attended the scene within minutes. The circuit emergency services and local fire department have since extinguished the fire.
"One McLaren team member has been taken to hospital as a precaution, and all McLaren personnel and guests are accounted for.
"We would like to thank all the marshals and emergency services for their quick and professional response. We would also like to thank Formula 1, the FIA and our competitors who have offered to help our team and guests this weekend."

Aston back where they were, no improvements whatsoever for good period now.
