F1 2023 Season

FIA stewards at it again. How Sainz only got a 3 place grid penalty is beyond me. It's as if they looked at all incidents as 1 infringement instead of separately. Should have been 6 or 9.
Sets a bad precident for future qualifications, im thinking hungary, italy and singapore for example.

We all agree it's not the driver's fault - it's the teams and their inability to let the driver know of the situation on the track fast enough for them to know how to react. Consistently punishing the drivers is imo wrong and FIA needs to either work out a system where all teams use the same way to deal with traffic or change the rules and punish the teams and their staff instead.

Disagree, driver is at fault as well. Its not like saniz is a newbie. The team arent responsible for sainz parking his car in the middle of the track like an idiot, on multiple occasions.

They are punishing the teams by giving grid penalties.

Parking your car in the middle on last-second notice is miles better than changing the driving lane and causing potentially hazardous moments. Both our commentators agreed on that - senior motorsports figures.

Martin Brundle, critized Sainz during qually yesterday for parking in the middle of the track. More than once since he did it more than once.

The man is a monster. Yeah the car helps as it always does when someone does well -but the cojones he showed again to put that large of a gap on the rest of the field in the wet while literary drifting at times is just something you should simply admire.

Just incredible. The most impressive driver I've seen since Schumacher. Personally, i don't think there's anyone on the grid at the moment who could match him, over the course of a season, even if they were in the same car.

Sainz only getting a three place penalty is insane. He fecked up TWICE, and one of those times in particular was really dangerous. I don't get it. Nowhere near enough, IMO.

Sainz penalty is an absolute joke, he could have caused a serious incident at least twice, and completely fecked Ocon up who'd have probably got into Q2 without him getting in the way

One of these days, because the penalties are so lenient so no deterrent to it, someone is going to have a major major incident by someone effectively stopping on track. The thought of someone doing a hot lap, being unsighted and hitting the back of an extremely slow car....

Only logical explanation for me is, some of their bloody cameras are still not working because he was effectively a mobile chicane last evening.

Is there any threat of rain?

Really hope so, although not holding out much hope as they kept saying yesterday the weather will be better today

It makes it so much more interesting (provided they actually go out in it!)

I’d have loved if Martin when trying to look under the Ferrari said something along the lines of

I don’t know why they’re trying to block me, no one on the grid would want to copy anything from that car anyway

Hulk penalty is ridiculous.

Sainz penalty also ridiculous for the opposite reason. And to those saying it’s not on the driver but instead on the team are utterly clueless. If you’re going slow in the middle of the track somewhere and you didn’t know someone on a flying lap was coming up, then yes that is on the team. But Sainz is crawling around towards the end of a long straight approaching a fast chicane. You don’t need the team to tell you that’s fecking moronic. It’s a shambles the stewards haven’t come down on him much harder.

Max has gotten away from the pack again

The Alonso/Lewis/George battle could be interesting

Perez floundering but maybe because he's on the hard tyre?
