F1 2023 Season

How is it possible that Sainz's softs were slower than mediums after 5 laps? They look dead now.

From what I have read, this track kills the softs

Yeah, I am more surprised why are they even using them. Could it be that they are just doing the testing and risking for the main race?

For their sake I'd hope so. Max is once again going to be a huge threat if they dont maximize the benefit of starting higher up the grid. Or so it would seem to me anyway.

Hamilton could actually win tomorrow.

Really boring sprint.

Norris’ pace at the end was strong against Leclerc, tomorrow will be his best chance for a first win

I don’t see anything but a Max win tomorrow if he has a normal race as his pace was too much by the end even Perez was doing okay. It should be close behind though.

Boring sprint race. Max will win by a country mile tomorrow. The car has enough pace. The challenge to catch the RB over the winter is almost impossible. But hope one team can catch them.

So FIA set to annouce a ban on wind tunnel / CFD design work for 2026 cars until january 2025. To stop some teams i.e. RedBull gaining an advantage going into 2026. They didnt say RB, but its obvious who they mean.

Also a few team bosses have said due to the cost cap they wont be developing their 2025 cars which will be a tweak on the 2024 cars. So it looks like if you dont nail your car performance by the summer break of 2024 your stuck with that underperforming car for all of 2025.

Another crap rule then, because why not.

I know they have cameras in the windtunnels, but I wonder how the control/monitor the use of CFD. Are they all using the same software and shared account or something? (Half serious question).

Can see Max getting past them unless he has a crash or issue with the car. There is good overtaking opportunities here despite the dull sprint, wide track and DRS should really help Max at least.

"...Teams are required to keep logs of all work done in the wind tunnels and must be sent to the FIA within 2 weeks of the end of each ATP. The teams must also archive photos of the models used in each ‘run’ for possible inspection by the FIA. The International Federation can carry out an audit at any time..."

Both Aston Martins will start from the pitlane today. Fernando will run previous iteration of floor with Lance running Austin update optimised for the race so team has a back-to-back comparison.

They know that Lance is 0.5 sec slower on his good day than Alonso. If he manages to reduce this gap, they will know how much better the whole thing is if the weaker driver manages to show some progress.

Theres a story to be told here. About how AM started the season with the 2nd best car on the grid and have been going backwards ever since. Normally thats a correlation issue between the wind tunnel and the track.

I wonder if their scale model is wrong. This happen to Mercedes recently and they fired aero guys who created the scale model.

Possibly, the directive on flexible wings has had the biggest impact to them compared to other teams.

If someone can squeeze Max off the start and have accidental contact that would be brilliant thanks.

If it was a couple years, I wouldn’t rule it out. But he knows how much faster he is then others and is not taking any risks and avoids collisions.

No don't show us quick cut aways of onboards in the middle of the action. Stupid Tv director.

So looks like its gonna be
1. Verstappen
2. Norris
3. Hamilton

Mercedes Ferrari is no duel these days.
