F1 2023 Season

Bit of a disappointing Q3 really with Verstappen, Norris and Hamilton over track limits or losing traction on their last laps.

Lesson there to do interviews when all track positions have been finalised

Oscar Piastri has now lost his final lap time for track limits too, communicate the stewards.

That now means Lewis Hamilton is up into third on the grid.

Piastri, initially promoted into the top three at his team-mate's expense, had just staged his top-three interview in parc ferme before being informed.

Piastri now sixth and Norris 10th.

That was shit. Shit track, and everyone was shit, except Verstappen again.

I am not familiar with the track, but it seems like this is basically shite copy of Bahrain? What's the point of two similar tracks, they couldn't even think of better track than this with all the money? :wenger:

It certainly can't help. And I don't buy for a second that F1 won't care as long as the tracks are full. There will be a demand for tickets which might still be larger than supply, but a diminishing social media interest is clearly a sign that demand is falling and they'll want to arrest that before the lines cross.

They won't care about social media clicks going down as long as their revenue keeps going up year on year, which it is. TV subscriptions are going up as well, so I think that social media report is given a bit too much weight when it comes to assessing general interest and demand.

I am also not that familiar but I believe it’s a frequent on the MotoGP circuit.

I agree this track is shit, one of the main problems is there is no other racing on it this weekend.
Track is not getting a run in, covered in sand and its windy.
Money sure does talk with shite like this.

It is a monumentally shit track, worst on the calendar by some distance. No interesting corners. Nothing memorable or unique about it. Only difficult because it's in a place that is too dusty and hot to host a race in the first place.

Dont know what the overtake delta is but I bet all the passes come at turn 1.

Insane that Zandvoort and Spa have to fight to stay on the calendar while this shit and Miami get 10 year deals.
Yeah this bit is what's wrong with the sport. It's money first racing second. We should be seeing the best tracks in the world and not the richest streets in the world.

I kinda hope it is because it is the new epitome of the WWE-ification of F1 and I hate it. Poor Brundle will probably be pushed aside by more ViP bodyguards.
He probably will be pushed aside by the bodyguard of the vip bodyguards

Shame both mclaren drivers cocked up in Q3. They should be 2nd and 3rd on grid for sundays race.

Crap moto gp track for F1 cars. This season cant end soon enough. Its just too long now with too many races.

So far if I can recall the best races of the season so far have been at the proper circuits not these new money talks ones. Shame the entertainment value isn't considered and sterile processions are considered fine because it's at a place that gives way more in terms of ££££s than it does entertainment

Lance is one of the worst drivers to be given a consistent grid spot. Absolute crap.

Big changes for the rest of the weekend.

The FIA has made some big changes: -
Track limits will be changed in turns 12-13. -
There will be an extra 10 minutes of testing before sprint shootout. -
The Sprint Shootout will therefore start 20 minutes later than planned If problems continue after the sprint: -
Maximum number of laps on one tyre in race limited to 20. -Mandatory 3 pitstops

Limits on the number of laps a set can do ! Mandatory 3 stop race.
They really are worried about tyres, have limits like this happened before ?

what a farce.

Monaco should have mandatory 3 stops.

So the issue is the pyramid kerbs are causing the tyre sidewall to come away after 20 laps. Heres an idea, dont go on the kerbs. If you do you might get a puncture or crash. If you do go on the kerbs you get a faster lap time.High risk, high reward.

F1 really is a shadow of the sport it used to be in the 80s and 90s.

Agree, it's all so sterile nowadays

Sure there used to be more gravel traps, people shouldn't be able to properly muck up corners and continue almost unaffected.

What a shit track... And it's literally a bloody flat desert. Awful.

But but the luxurious paddock tho! :wenger:
...yeah I'm with Max - and others here - there is a reason why traditional race tracks provide so much more entertainment. Sadly, it seems like there is less and less place for those on the calendar.
