F1 2023 Season

Anything interesting in FP1 and FP2 worth rewatching?

People say that Marko is just an old duffer and that it doesn't matter, but what we are hearing is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

If someone like Perez, who is white, has had to cop racism, what kind of racism has Lewis Hamilton had to come up against throughout his career?

The sense of denial that people have about racism is what effectively perpetuates it.

And this is not thread to discuss racism, but F1. To come up with your post in F1 threadabout something that is not F1 is oretty weird.

Do we think that RB genuinely won’t be at the top? Or will they figure set up out and eventually be top? What surprised me was that even in race trim it wasn’t the fastest. So it seems like they’ve finally got a genuine scrap on their hands and a lot of work to do to end up top in either quali or the race.

I honestly cant call this race, I was expecting to see both RB's at the top, seems like this track is proving more difficult for them.
Ferrari 1 and 2 are equally unexpected, but lets be honest most of the time the other teams dont have to bother about them , they do themselves most of the time.
Mercedes v Alonso, along with Norris, could be interesting.
Shaping up to be a very good race, well at the moment, RB could get their set up right over night and blow the rest away.

Toto Wolff has acknowledged that his derisive 'Wikipedia' remark on Max Verstappen's milestone achievement at Monza was perhaps not his finest moment.

In Italy, Verstappen conquered his tenth consecutive win this season, establishing a new milestone in the history of the sport, while Red Bull became the first team in F1 to take 15 victories in a row, beating Mercedes' previous landmark.

But after the race, Wolff played down the team and driver's feat, saying it was only worthy of a mention in Wikipedia and "nobody reads that anyway".

Red Bull said before the weekend that they didn't expect to be strong here so while I think they could definitely improve I don't think they'll blow anyone away. I think we won't see a Red Bull on pole, might see one on the podium but I'd say Ferrari are the team to beat here now (if they don't beat themselves).

Seems like Max broke the record just in time, because it looks like he could genuinely not win this one. I know it's only practice, but they look off it here. Hopefully, we get a good scrap for P1

Before the TDs you could say that both Mclaren and Mercedes should be very competative around here as its a high downforce track. Who had flexible wings and a flexible plank remains to be seen.

I think the temporary track changes play into RB hands. I still expect Max on poll and to win the race. The RB is really kind to its tyres and tyre DEG plays a huge part at a singapore as it has the longest pit in of the season. One stop race.

Ferrari have a tyre DEG problem in race trim and their mystery under/over steer fatal car design could come back to bite them.

Usually yes but in the long runs the RB had higher deg than Merc and AM while they were slower on fast laps. RB definitely have work to do.

Tbf to Ferrari - it does seem like they have a much better handle on tyre deg in the last 1-2 races. Apparently they modified their electrical power release to better time it going into corners to prevent additional stress on the tyres going through corners.

Alonso race pace on mediums is amazing.

Apparently Amus (german f1 site who normally have good sources) have said RB are running a new floor at Singapore as a few bits of the previous floor wouldnt pass the new Technical Directive.

#AMuS After two free practice sessions in Singapore, both Max and Checo are struggling with sliding rear ends and find the right balance

Red Bull is losing 4-tenths in the 3-corners first sector, according to Helmut Marko

While many suspected it has something to do with the revised TD039 which led to Red Bull bringing the modified floor, both drivers took turns with the modified floor comparing with the old spec and lap times showed RB19 with the modified floor is faster, especially Checo being fastest on mediums

Hopefully people will eventually realize Charles really isn't the clear no.1 in that team. Plenty of times Carlos has had the upper hand. During the race though their weakness appears to be different. Charles makes a lot of unforced errors but is good under pressure, Carlos cracks under pressure and is always guaranteed for a lock up here and there.

If someone's going to beat Max to the podium, this is the track to do it.

Oh, the track is obviously improving a lot.
