F1 2023 Season

Daniel Ricciardo has gone straight to the medical center following his crash during FP2, as per Will Buxton.

Pics of RIC holding his hand after the crash don't look good unfortunately. I suspect Liam might be in for an earlier F1 race debut than we were all expecting.

From someone who was at the race. I hope he is OK.

Saw Dan Ric walking past me. His hand didnt look good. Packed in ice and his arm was in a sling (correct word?). The smile was nowhere to be seen.

And I was wondering why no one is here. I think with football starting people have forgotten that it's F1 weekend as well.
Its a dead season, so not too bothered. Will watch qually and the race.

Doesnt bode we for F1 when both leclerc and hamilton dont think RB can be caught till rules change for 2026 season.

So thats another 60 concecutive wins RB can aim for.

It's only year a half into RB's domination and it's already the worst. Can't wait to go back to Mercedes dominating. It's so much better.

nah, the fia will find a way to nobble them before then. it’s a money making marketing exercise, rather than a sport nowadays. they won’t want red bull dominating for a lengthy period. there’s not enough prestige in the red bull name, and not enough money to be made off max’s fan base of netflix binging, basement dwelling, super fans.

This is a bit weird to me as well. I mean I admit I stopped watching entirely this season, because I fecking hate the dumb Max Verstappen love-in we have over here, but especially Hamilton whinging about it seems strange. He won like a gazillion championships in a row.

Is he whinging? Not seen anything like that.

Any period of domination is extremely boring in F1.

I would consider clamouring for a rule change because someone else is suddenly winning instead of you would qualify as whinging. Though English is not my first language so perhaps I'm misstaken in my belief that it means constantly complaining?

Such a boring season. When you don't have to think much about your fantasy team this season, says it all. McLaren and Williams renaissance are the only things interesting in one of the most uninspiring season.

Doesn't help that Red Bull are a pretty uninspiring team. Mercedes were a bit better, at least they're an actual manufacturer, but they were hardly a V10 Ferrari or a day-glo McLaren.

With Riccardo out, the team should have given Nick a chance to compete in front of his home crowd.

That Ricciardo accident was so amateur from him, I find it amazing that professional racer didn't see Oscar stuck in the wall long time before he picked his longer racing line in that corner.

Shame for the injury though.

I mean don't all teams during all eras do this? Red bull certainly did it, and I haven't seen him constantly saying it? I imagine they get asked all the time about it.

I would find it equally silly if Red Bull, after their current dominance ends would start clamouring for a rule change, because it's making the sport boring. I mentioned Hamilton specifically because he has won so many championships making it weird to only complain about it after someone else is too dominant. In the end F1 is more an engineering competition than a drivers competition, so one team being dominant is kind of the point surely?

There’s a slight elevation just before that corner so I don’t think he had as much time as it looks. Especially with how low they sit. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Liking the Adagio for Strings in the build up

Didn't realise we'd had so many wet races, usually they are a huge cause for excitement but doesn't help if they aren't allowed to properly race

Was watching Sky before, they said the wet tyres were only good for behind the SC.
If true that’s shocking, Senna at Monaco or Donnington in the very wet would not happen now

Unfortunately wasn't old enough for Senna's era but can remember some Schumacher masterclasses in the wet, you also wouldn't get the Eau Rouge pile up nowadays

That's shocking about the "wet" tyres they should be for for purpose

There seems to be more "escape" options now e.g. where Max went off if that was all gravel rather than the escape road, he and the Haas would probably be beached and out but they have the get out of just go across the gravel and be easily able to escape
