F1 2022 Season

Took 4 minutes for this to get through.

Again, this is 2022. You should both upgrade your dialup and stop using paint for memes.

It's all too easy

You're really bad at this

How do you spend so much time on a forum and be that bad

You have a fun evening, go shout at some clouds

Watching catch up on channel 4 since I missed the race on sky today. Watching this Max interview, it’s such a shame Horne is his team lead. It’s rubbing off on him.

Interviewer asked him how he would have felt of roles were reversed, his response was (or words to the effect of cos I can’t remember verbatim) “I’d have been happy because I would have been lucky to be in that fight”.
He's a cnut*.

He's in the right team I suppose.

Handbags aside, Ferrari being competitive again is a cracking sight. Sad that McLaren aren't near the top 3 but it was a great start to the season.
It would be great if Leclerc wins it this year. I don't want permanent Ferrari domination, but I think they deserve a break!

Either driver would be great. Sainz is an extremely likeable character like Lerclerc, both great drivers too. The car looked very solid so here's hoping they challenge hard this year.

Awful race really.. A couple of DRS attempts at passing - I thought the whole point of the new regs was to eventually get rid of that ridiculous "help to overtake" system?! Nobody else really did much. Pretty, pretty, pretty dull!

Completely agree with this. It was all about the engine out there today. Ferrari only won because theirs is the best. Hence Haas and Alfa look decent. No one overtake was a late on the brakes bold move.

True. They are both likeable, Leclerc slightly more so and he seems to have alot of talent. Sainz is no slouch though!

I guess we will see more of their less likeable character traits, under pressure, if this title battle progresses.

So, Russell is overrated after all? What is so special about him? Thought maybe he could win over Lewis. Maybe not allowed to do it?
Overrated for finishing 1 place behind Lewis Hamilton in the same car, in one race?

F1 season thread descends back into Merc v RBR sniping.......All part of the great Ferrari masterplan.

What a cracking race, really impressed with Leclerc throughout. Brilliantly defended the start, very strong retaking Max a few times and the aced the restart.

900 days plus since the last Ferrari win. I really hope I don't have to wait another 900 days for the next one. Lewis is great as a P3 winner he is such a gracious loser, at least to Ferrari. It might be that he knows that Ferrari will implode and Mercs will improve.

If Red Bull really turned down the chance to inspect and replace a dodgy fuel pump part during testing, when other teams did, you'd have to call that a spectacular own goal.

This E10 business can get to feck though.

Almost as if it wasn't the pump itself, but something leading up to it. Because it's funny how it was just RB and just happened to get the only two fecked ones.

What’s the story with E10

It's shite and a con.

Finally got to watch the entire gp, what an ending. Brilliant. RB screw up was great to watch as was max throwing his toys out of the pram.

Though i have 20+ pages of comments to catch up on.

The race have a bit on the fuel pump and blame it on the fact RB didn’t do much low fuel testing unlike the mercs and Ferrari, which is when the problem would show up and this happens because of it.

So the latest seems to be that Red Bull cocked up. The fuel line part or whatever it is actually called was changed by every other team in testing after running full race distance apart from RedBull, who didnt do any full race distance runs in testing.

One race in and this thread has already gone down the toilet.

I thought today was a decent race. The 3 lap battle between Max and Leclerc was great and we spent more time watching the back markers fight which is always good. Seeing bottom of the grid teams fighting in the midfield is awesome to see. Obviously whoever has the better engine is always going to be in front and it's going to be all about them, shit engines can't keep up with great engines so that should be a given. What happened today outside of that was really good to see.

Yeah it was rough. To be fair I had to rewatch Hamiltons "shit, we can't box?" and Toto's "no Mikey, no..." to put me back in the good mood. #blessed

Judging by their speed, and Leclerc's driving today, no way it's 900 days. Should be plenty of wins this season. Not convinced by Sainz. I think he's going to be playing second fiddle like Perez and Bottas last year.

You know Carlos beat LeClerc last season... He was only 1tenth off Charles in quali. Yes I'd put LeClerc as the naturally quicker driver but Sainz is very good, he'll be there or there abouts. I hope. Especially with these tyres, Sainz tyre management could be huge over the season.

Well, I’ll start out by saying a massive feck you to the entire Red Bull garage. Now that I’ve discouraged about 30% of readers from continuing with my post, I’ll continue with some perhaps more mature analysis.

The Ferrari looks very quick, the power unit is obviously exceptional, as you can see from the other teams they are supplying. Excellent drive from LeClerc too. The brief battle with Verstappen was excellent.

I don’t think Red Bull will be hampered for long, although it’ll be interesting to see how reliable the Honda PU is.

Great drives from Lewis and Russel. You could see the car porpoising and that just be a bitch to handle lap after lap. They were well off the pace overall but made the most of what they were given. To get 3rd and 4th is fantastic, even if it comes courtesy of two retirements. You still have to drive it through the finish line and the car wasn’t easy to handle today.

I think the Merc has tons of untapped potential. When they figure it out it’s going to rival Ferrari and RBR and we are going to have a humdinger of a season.

Zhou picked up a point on his debut in a very good car, albeit 7 seconds behind his experienced team mate. Massive shame the much superior Ilott wasn’t given the drive instead.

Massive result for Magnusson, who I couldn’t be happier for. Hugely outperformed Schumi Jr. The Haas looks quick this year.

Bitterly disappointing, but expected, from McLaren. Probably my favourite team. I think they are in big trouble. They are struggling for mechanical and aerodynamic grip, and the more needed downforce they are able to generate, they are going to face more porpoising. They just don’t have the test laps in the other teams do because of the brakes issue, which itself seems like a design flaw. I can see them picking up half a second, but that barely gets them to midfield. The second or so they need, is a long way off. At best I think it’s going to be a difficult few races for them. Massive shame because I was hoping we’d be looking at a 4 way battle with Merc, RBR, and Ferrari.

Does being an F1 fan come with an engineering degree or something? How the feck does the average follower pick up on fuel pump issues and laminar flow and all that tosh...
