F1 2018 Season

Pirelli did a good job for Mercedes. Lucky for us it's only 3 races this season where Pirelli will cover for their car's weakness.

Nah. Ferrari are considerably quicker on the more durable soft tyres and they will be starting on that while the mercs will be on super softs. Ferrari are well and truly in it. Ferrari have a very fast car and it is too close to call.

The mercedes are starting on the soft as well. so no advantage there to any team.

i agree that with a good start, they should have every chance of winning it. just hope that Max doesn't hit anyone at the first corner.

Someone can be both a great driver and a great cnut at the same time.
That's called good strategy. Or maybe he just didn't have it in him on the soft. Spent whole Q2 complaining about the debris on the track too, might have had something to do as well

Either way, his qualifying lap was incredible. Give him credit for that

If anything the question should be why the ferraris were so much slower in Q3

Think Ferrari didn't make the right call with their tyres.

Mercs will start on super softs if I am not mistaken.

Thanks. Thought they set their fastest time on the red walled tyres in Q2.
Hamilton did a dummy lap (slowing down right before the line) in Q2. Don’t remember Bottas going out on Supers in Q2

"It is rubbish. All the teams had very heavy blistering in testing - Red Bull, Ferrari and ourselves".

But it seems Ferrari was fine with its tyres and didn't ask for a change.

Roll on to the race though.

Well, clearly Pirelli didn't do it to help Mercedes, i agree with Lewis on this one, but it did help Mercedes nonetheless, and Toto saying that they gave feedback to Pirelli just because of security and blistering well, give me a break, if they didn't think it would suit them more, they wouldn't have made those feedback, it's not surprising that Vettel on thursday, before any pratice session was wary of this change, Ferrari knew that it would help their rivals.

Even if the tire overheated well, it's the same for everyone, even if they wouldn't have lasted long 'like toto said', well, use the soft, use the medium .... again, it's the same for everyone.

Pirelli shouldn't change things mid-season like that, this situation has been created by them, they should face up to the backlash from the fans.

Exactly. Toto looks a nice lad, but he is a big tool in the end.

Same as Horner, the media friendly bosses are all like that. he wasn't going to say that the change was made to help them, but he should have at least aknowledged that it did, help them, there's no shame in that.

Yep, everyone saw it.

Doesn't look like we'll get rain. Start should be good though, the pole sitter lost out in F2 and F3 and Lewis has failed to convert pole into a turn one lead here in the last two years.

It looks very cloudy over the mountains, tbh.

Grosjean's an absolute idiot, should be sitting out the next race if Haas don't kick him out.
