F1 2018 Season

Lewis was probably looking at 3rd at best before so it's only a 7 point loss assuming he can fight back to 6th. Merc saying he was lucky to finish in Melbourne is a bit worrying though, wonder if it's linked to the problems reported in the Italian press a few months ago.

Ferrari needs 1st and 2nd today so Lewis will start at the best 8th tomorrow.
I see Lewis going all out in Q3 again , getting Pole and starting in 6th.
The race will be another matter, he will be behind the Red Bulls , Ferrari and one of the McLearns or maybe a HAAS.
Passing the Ferrari's will be difficult I think, starting anywhere in the top 10 , still see him getting a Podum.

Of course, he needs a great qualifying.

They might take the setup more to a racey one so he can make progress rather than outright speed over a single lap. You can't pass much around here except the main straights anyway so if he loses a couple tenths in Sector 2 he will be strong out of 3 and into 1.

Unless the Merc are hiding pace again I fancy a Ferrari on outright pole.

Yes, good point , he might just do that, even from 10th on the grid , a podum would still be on

Q1: Raikkonen, Vettel, Bottas and Verstappen.

Grosjean, Ericsson, Sirotkin, Leclerc and Stroll are out.

Q2: Vettel, Hamilton, Raikkonen and Ricciardo.

Alonso, Perez, Hartley, Vandoorne and Verstappen are out.

Honda beating McLaren. What a joke.
Really disappointing. I thought after Melbourne we've finally made some progress.

No excuses now though, it shows the team are the problem not the engine. That's a good thing IMO. Nowhere left to hide.

Looks like a comfortable Vettel pole as long as he hooks it all up. Interesting to see Ricciardo within striking distance of the Mercs, should be a good battle between him and Bottas for the final podium place tomorrow.

Hulkenberg makes sure he's 8th so he can start 7th again. The guy is nothing if not consistent.

Have to give it to Toro Rosso, Honda, and definitely Gasly to be the best of the rest, they've done well today.

Think this is the most competitive we've seen the three big teams. Finally some racing I hope!
