F1 2010

Just kill the power on that S Bend. S'what I always used to do in Forza. Roll it down and don't accelerate until your straightened up and off the curb.

They are not going to patch it, they should be hard at work getting the next one ready. They should look at this one as shit under the bridge, and make sure it's right for the next one.

Unfortunately true. Which is why shit constantly gets made - people will always buy it.

Most players won't notice the bugs in any case.

The worst 'bug' for me is the fuel one. Getting off the line and then trying to keep up on the straights with fuel simulation on is a frustrating thing, since you know it's not affecting the other racers.

It seems like everything possible on this game is half done

9th in istanbul, had rain in q2 and start of q3 making things tough

Qualified 7th for Shanghai, got to 3rd during the race and then my PS3 turned itself off because I had an electricity problem - I will have to re-race. Again - is this somehow possible to up the difficulty so that I won't be able to race 3rd with a Virgin car but still have all the assists? I don't seem to be able to drive without them.

Finished 1st in Istanbul, dry all the way, +3.2 faster than Webber. My geordie crew are having orgasms. I love that track, can't do that any where else. :(

hope i can pull that off, im usually good at getting off the line and overtaking at the first few bends

Shift the AI level to expert or legendary?

On Istanbull I actually came in when my crew told me to, I just practised over and over in qualifying until I was in 3rd on the grid, then in the race by the time I was in lap 3 I was 2nd behind Webber, I came in as soon as they told me to while Webber carried on, I came out of the pits first but in 5th place, managed to get back to 2nd with everyone else pitting, then as soon as Webber pitted I caught him, he came out about 2 seconds behind me and I smoked him on every straight and kept him behind me for 6 laps.

My god Montreal is even easier. I hope I can pull 1st here as well.

Before the race, you mean? I tried during the race and shifting the level will change the set-up of the assists, but now I've noticed it's possible to do that before the weekend. Thanks.

1st on Montreal fastest lap 1.20.947, 2 poles in a row albet piss easy courses... I finished 24 seconds faster than Vettel in second, time to up the difficulty I think.

do you run the car settings on default or do you change the car settings at all?

I dont change default at all and I got 3rd place at Montreal :D

Happy with that because it's yet a bit of a challenge atleast. if it gets too easy time to move to legendary :nervous:

I still don't seem to be able to race with break assists off. I keep spinning at random points of the course, but I will probably try it after getting used to the game.

In spite of all the bugs, it's still an 8 or 8.5 game for me so far. It's not perfect but very enjoyable and that's what I wanted from it.

Same here. I'm playing breaking assists on.i just have no control over the car without the assists on. Guess playing on keyboard makes it a bit harder than it should be.

From my experience, it's very much harder I would think. Why not get a driving force GT? I am apathetic to cars and I don't follow any racing events.. I even used to steer clear (pun unintended) from more realistic driving games. I guess what got me into such games was when I turned off all assists for Dirt 2, and then went through all the Driving Challenges on GT PSP to understand and appreciate what racing is about.

It's been extremely worth it for me so far, thanks to Weaste for the advice in the GT5 thread. It's not just about better times or vibrations, but the whole game transforms into something else with it.

I guess with GT5 coming out in Nov I at least have a compelling reason to get it. Do you have a PS3? If you do you shouldn't hesitate since you seem to love racing games.. And even if you are one of those who get illegal copies of games, why not spend some of that money on the appropriate hardware..

3rd in Valencia from a grid of 6, could have been 2nd but I got another annoying pit occurance, pitted first before anyone else when I was 2nd but my pit crew were the 2nd to last in the lane, so just as my crew finish me off, I have to wait because another car is coming in behind me to park in front of me before I can move out and go which put my pit time to 9 seconds.

Fair enough. Wait until you take it to the next level and use tyre wear and Fuel simulation, then after a few laps realise the other drivers are immune to it. Frustrating

I'm not sure about the GT5 stuff, but you are completely correct about getting a wheel!

Well till now I've not needed a wheel as i generally just play a bit of NFS and played a lot of Blur but all on the PC. Don't have a console.

So was never really tempted to get a wheel for the PC. And their rather expensive and a bit out of budget for me right now so I might hold out on it.

How much better is the xbox controller than the keyboard? I have a PS controller but that's not working for this so I'm thinking of going out and getting a xbox controller especially since FIFA and PES are coming as well now.

so when you pick your rival driver and beat them you get their seat right?

for example i would like to partner button so does that mean i have to pick hamilton as my rival and then i will take hamiltons seat right??

How do you pick a rival driver? And it can only be done at the end of the season?

Correct Sparky, apparently. :) It happens around the Hungary / Belgium Grand Prix you get an interview to pick one of the 3 drivers above you in the championship. So you can't pick whoever you want, only one of the 3 drivers above you (since I'm 5th in the Championship I can pick 4th,3rd,2nd as my rivals) then if you beat them either once if you're lucky or multiple times you get a contract offer from their team.

I have heard though of someone picking Button as a rival and them ejecting Hamilton instead so if you choose Hamilton wanting to partner Button you may find them ejecting Button, I'm not 100% on who gets the boot.

I just cant play this game properly! Got this game yesterday and god dman its so frustrating that I suck so much at it?!

I am finding it extremely extremely difficult to drive. Skidding all over the place when I brake early and accelerate on the turn, and over shooting corners if I brake late...

Cannot even complete 1 lap in practise.. Course this is with all driving aids off, but thats how I want to play..:(

So I just turned on automatic transmission and tried, and damn, I was like 16 seconds off the pace etc..ARGH...I have been watching f1 for around 13/14 years now, but I cannot for the life of me drive in this game..lol really annoying..

So does anyone here have tips for someone who well...just absolutely without a shadow of a doubt...SUCKS?

Just make sure that when you're braking, that you're only pressing the brake button & don't accelerate whilst you're turning. That's the easiest way to learn.

ah okay, thats pretty cool. i also hear you have to take the offer straight away too if you beat your rival. on other news they have started on F1 2011 too.

would love to see races started under the safety car in bad conditions for the next one

But then how do I turn from lets say a complete straight to a hair pin?

I surely would not be turning WHILE braking correct? That almost always leads my wheels getting locked due to massive under steer...

I always thought the f1 way of doing it is, brake to the appropriate turning speed, and then accelerate on the turn, and on the way OUT of the turn...?

Try it with assists for a while and then move to playing without assists. That's what I'll do anyway

That would be

And adding the timer will be good too. I would like to know how much the people behind and ahead of me are at all times in the race.

And maybe a bit more talking from the team over the radio.

What I'd love to see more is the monumental green lights to signal go, maybe I'm just blind but I haven't seen any yet.

Also the safety car, rain at all as well I've not had a single rainy race yet, every session has been dry.

Interviews I'd like to see all 3 podium finishers answering questions when you get a podium interview so it's an actual interview and not just 3 questions... also more than one journalist asking questions.

Well you need to get your braking zones right first, that always helps when it comes to getting the apex of the corner right. However the problems you'll encounter is that if you're accelerating too early during the turn you'll just spin the car.

If you follow the basics to begin with you can then see where the bite point is for your accelerations during the cornering.
