How are people enjoying this on PS3? I have a 20 quid Argos voucher, considering putting that towards purchasing this.
You can change wing angle, engine power on the fly, also something to do with tires which I presume is choosing which ones you will put on on your next pit stop.
There's no way, no matter how good you are, that Torro Rossos and Lotuses should be finishing on the podium.
I'd like to see these games implement component wear. I'm talking reduced brake performance, chassis deformation 'GT4 had this', engine wear that kind of stuff.
I'd like them to simulate the fact that you can't run at 100%, 100% of the time. Short shifting to save fuel and slow down engine wear. Engine braking to reduce brake wear. I know this is a bit more hardcore sim, but it should be in games like this with the ability to turn on and off like tyre wear.
some of you must be really good, im in a lotus and there is no way in hell i could catch the top teams never mind getting on the podium
Awesome mate, full respect that is skills no doubt. Yeah you should definitely get online, you would be challenging the best with your times.
I play it the same way but am finishing pretty much where lotus should.
I qualified 17 in Aus and was well chuffed.
I was in 13 going into the pits which thought was pretty good, unfortunately I spun and lost a few places just before and then when I came out was 23!
Trulli was behind me though so at least I beat my team mate.
I've started expermenting with the aerodynamics and camber now. Hell of a difference increasing the downforce for tighter/twistier tracks.
how do you see what the R&D objective is? Starting Melbourne practice and I'm told i've to try to beat a target time, but I've no idea what the target time is.

Someone go around Suzuka or Fuji, whatever it is this year, and post your best lap time. I want to try an experiment.

Yeah, I'm going to take the 2007 around and see what sort of time gap we get.
Aren't there just top times posted online you can compare?
EDIT: Is the Suzuka track in this different to the one in GT? Looks different.

Yeah, Suzuka has been changed slightly, but it's basically the same.
I just got the game...
Playing an F1 game after 10 years....Turned all assists off...feck ME...
Im spinning and all over the place, I cant complete 1 sector in practice at Barhain, let alone 1 lap?!LOL.....
Really frustrating...Just spinning and sliding all over the place....Will have to spend a while just being able to drive a lap
Play with break assists on then![]()

Well he was getting around 1.35, 1.36 although he's a bit shit.
How do you set the fuel?I felt a little bit like that, well not sliding all over the place. Got it down to 2:00 in a Lotus, also in the settings make sure you only have 3 laps worth of fuel - the car is atleast a second faster per lap of fuel that is lost.
Well if you want a challenge keep the breaks on but move it up to legendary levelLol, but then where's the fun then in?!
is it possible to out break people with the brakes on?
i am onto monaco, have done P1 and i got 13th fastest on the options, unforgiving circuit but i am looking forward to racing

This is my favourite aspect of this game though, because its refreshing to have a driving system that is challenging at first, but comes to you the more you practice, and isn't flawed in any great way
The driving model itself is only really that flawed if you use a wheel. Since it's a different game with a pad (or keys), the fact that you can't feel the back of the car properly doesn't affect you anywhere near as much.
You'll never feel the back of the car properly unless your arse is sat in the seat of one.
