F1 2010

won my first race earlier, ignoring the engineers calls to pit definitely helps, i just stayed out an extra 2 laps. before i was going in in 5th coming out in 18th and getting nowhere, in the race afterwards i came 2nd which i should have won, i was leading from pole position until a pitted, then i caught button when coming out of the pits which gave alonso a massive lead, caught up with him on last lap but he just managed to beat me, i was so close on the final corner (that was montreal)

Cockpit view's harder for me than the outside camera

It is much harder. But what I've done so far (only Bahrain at the moment) I did a few laps above the bonnet with race line on to get a feel for the speed of the corners, then I went into cockpit and turned off race line. If you stick with it for a bit, it is very rewarding ;)

Oh and I hit my first bit of rain. It came down quite hard during qualifying, but my times were only around 1-2 seconds off! Either I'm good in the wet, or it's a bit too forgiving.

The graphics and lighting are much better in the rain though :)

How is the PC version? I'm considering spunking some money on this.

Is the AI and car setup good or as with older versions of this game you can lap 3 seconds quicker than other teams.

Yeah I almost always ignore pit calls now. There was one lap where they told me to come in and just about as I was about to enter I saw around 8 cars in the pits and decided to sit it out another lap or two.

Depends what AI difficulity you have it set too. I'm finding it pretty easy atm on intermediate, so I'm going to lob it up to professional for round 4 (Shanghai).

Are there two views from the cockpit or only one? Because in my F1 2009 there are two, one of which is actually pretty decent (it's higher, as if it was stuck to the top of the helmet or something) and the other one is impossible.

Oh, and I drive with no racing line on at all (cockpit view), because I don't know about you guys but the bloody thing throws me right off!

Same with all racing games, turn it off (once you know the track layout, it's useful there), because it's basically the ideal line for a rolling ball on a tilt table, you can often go a lot faster in GT if you do what you think best and not what the line tells you. It's an interesting one though. Take the Top Gear Test Track for example, I think when Button did it, Clarkson commented that all of the F1 drivers that have done it all use the same line, and that line was at times totally different to that used by The Stig. Not one of them beat the Stig, but then they weren't doing it in an F1 car. The perfect line changes from car to car in any case.

Great... so I may as well just stop playing this game and return it if all of the AI is infact fake. That's bleeding awful.

Codemasters better come up with a good excuse for this monumental feck up.

Hmm there are obviously some issues with the game but it's yet pretty enjoyable so I don't really mind :p

Not for the people who bought it via Steam

From what some official said on Twitter apparently the Qualifying is fake, not the real race. Hope so atleast

The AI is completely fecked on this game, that is plainly obvious from the moment you actually delve into the game and do a fair few races. Really bad bad way to implement a racing game, I mean actually inexcusable for a game with an F1 license and pretty reputable game studio behind it.

It's not race A.I that's faked (although I've not experienced it yet to know whether that's good or not).

In all, it's piss poor but not totally unbelievable coming from Codemasters. One of those forum members pointed out that the likes of iRacing weren't brilliant from the start, but built up to what it is now over the years. However, the makers of both games wildly differ, I doubt this F1 series will get much better too quickly.

I agree its shoddy they have put it out... but I am still enjoying it, and not noticing a vast amount of the issues people are noting in the game.

I agree. I'm still really enjoying my game :D

It feels very personalised too. I am actually fighting to get from 13th to 12th in a race - no incentive but to overtake and improve my recognition that tiny bit.

I'm definitely a lousy driver but unlike Gran Turismo, when I oversteer in this game I don't really get feedback prior to spinning, and I can't seem to wrestle for control before my car spins off. It's like it's scripted and I can't do anything about it. Guess I'll really have to drive properly because this is extremely punishing for me.

Yeah I want to get noticed and get some offers ;)

The one thing that does annoy me though is the lack of a counter telling us how far ahead and behind the nearest car is to you in the race.

Its a very unique style of driving.. Spinning is common whilst lerning.. and when you have think you have learnt..

I've managed to recover a fair few spins. I didn't though from word go, I wonder if its a traction issue because as soon as I turned Traction Control and ABS off I could fight the car during a spin and recover it.

I'm really enjoying racing around the track, fighting the corners etc. But the actual races so far are really disappointing. Far too many bugs at present to make it enjoyable.

But learning the track and driving round with steering wheel/pedals is great fun. China has some great fast corners. One thing I have learned though, the more curbs you drive over the more likely you are to destroy your tyres but also spin out. If you accelerate whilst on a curb/white line then your chance of spinning out is much higher. Stay on the track and you'll be more consitient.

Absolutely. As well as the lack of lap time info. Kind of miss the broadcast style of games gone by - F1 97 namely.

Just not there is something called Flashbacks. How do you use that?

Press Back on an Xbox 360 controller to initiate replay mode, then X to go back to that point in time.

This is useful if on the last lap and spin costing you places - if you need a result sort of thing.

I'm not buying it, something is obviously seriously borked in this game, whether they want to admit to it or not. It took a week for Bungie for example to finally admit that Halo 3 wasn't running in HD. For whatever the reason, be it strange design, legacy from Dirt and Grid in the engine, or the fact that THEY HAD TO get this out before it became F1 2011 and thus didn't have the time to finish it, trying to deny that something is up with it is just being stubborn.

It seems like a total train wreck.

-Pitstop exiting hesitation (see targa thread for temporary solution) (ALL FORMATS)
-Race results not portraying actual results (ALL FORMATS)
-Tyre punctures occur far too frequent (ALL FORMATS)
-AI blue flag issue, they get disqualified (ALL FORMATS)
-AI Fuel: AI qualifying slower then race start (ALL FORMATS)
-AI ghosting cars (ALL FORMATS)
-AI erratic swerving (in race when heating tyres isnt necessary)(ALL FORMATS)
-AI drivers not pitting at all in a race. (ALL FORMATS)
-Sound delay on shifting (ALL FORMATS)
-Split timing would be Usefull on screen. (ALL FORMATS)
-Sector 3 times don't stay up, you can't ever see your sector 3 (ALL FORMATS)
-Slight lag on controls of car (ALL FORMATS)
-Camera bug in time trial when exiting and rentering session head/hands disaapears TBC (ALL FORMATS)
-Tyre availability bug in practice sessions, e.g., no Primes available in P2 image (ALL FORMATS)
-Cars not being serviced in the pits and just sitting there, causing user to reset race if teammate is stuck. TBC (ALL FORMATS)
-Pit limiter auto on regardless of setting. (ALL FORMATS)
-wet times too fast , almost identical to dry times !??! (ALL FORMATS)
- too much grip in the rain (ALL FORMATS)
- too much grip with Intermediate/full wets (ALL FORMATS)
- live timer doesn't show personal best sector times (ALL FORMATS)
- third soft/hard tyre set not available in qualifying (ALL FORMATS)
- penalties given to player when ai hit you and also far too sensitive in certain forced situations (ALL FORMATS)
-Freezing and locking up often (XBOX360)
-Sustaining damage has no effect on performance on user or AI cars (ALL FORMATS)
-Remove hidden anti spin mechanic car doesnt feel right (or give option on/off) (ALL FORMATS)
-IN/OUT laps not counted in lap count for sessions (ALL FORMATS)

I have no doubt that actually driving the car is enjoyable. I suppose that online is fine? But that lot is simply not acceptable for a full priced fully licenced F1 game. It was obviously seriously rushed out when it wasn't ready (due to contractual obligations for one).

Its a bit like the early buyers are a glorified test team, rather than codemasters pay testers we actually pay them then find the bugs and they then patch the game

Great idea from their point of view

Poor race at Catalunya. Hamilton damaged my front wing on the first corner and I never recovered. Got some sort of revenge though when I spun him out from 3rd position on the final corner of the race after hehad lapped me

Finished 12th in Malaysia rain halfway through practice but it stayed dry for qualifying and the race

Finished 11th in qualifying. I don't know how anyone can drive without breaking assists at Monte Carlo. That race is ridiculous

Were they not supposed to have an actual F1 test driver helping out with this, or was that all marketing spiel? How did he miss all of this?

What I don't get is how all of the reviews seem to have completely missed all of this. Did they play it for 20 minutes or something?
