F1 2010

 1:57.38 in the race, lapped everyone upto 3rd on Hard.

Looks like I need to swap over to Expert now heh. Lovely game, really enjoying it! Bahrain really is a great circuit, you can zone in and get flowing round the corners. I managed to lap 2 cars going round that high speed corner, almost in gear 7 heh.

I absolutely struggle with breaks off. Keep alternating between break assists on and off.

I play with everything off except the driving line (which isn't that much of an assist) on Expert and in bahrain i got it down to 2:02 with lotus. I think i could get it under 2 mins.

I've switched off the line support but kept the breaks. Will take time to get used to no breaks assist.

Malaysia was not too easy. Struggled to 15th in qualifying in my Torro Rosso.

Brakes - Off (The first time I played the game I hated it, it brakes mid corner eh??)
Gears - Off
ABS - Off
Traction Control - Medium

I'm going to remove Traction Control as well for Melbourne. 'gulp'

Do it the opposite mate. Remove the brakes, but keep the lines on. You know that orange = slow down, red = heavy brake.

Play 10-15 practise laps to get used to the braking points and you'll go FAR quickier. Just don't think that the line support is 100% correct. I use it as a guide and then start picking my own brake points once I get in the groove :)

I removed the breaks for one lap and I got a rude shock. Spun off and my front wing went off on the first corner. I thought I was yet playing with breaking assists on

I'll try without the breaks in the next race :nervous:

thank god its not as easy as some early videos were suggesting, love that its impossible to jump into a slow car and bang out a pole lap, the people doing that must have all assists on and thats just not fun at all

Yeah I just started from the first lap with everything off and now it is so rewarding just getting round the track without crashing or spinning. But everyone enjoys the game in their own way ofcourse.

They've had an absolute shocker with the pit system for my money, I was leading at Spa as Hamilton (I've improved significantly with a bit of practice, I'm on medium difficulty with braking assist off), pitted, but if everyone else comes in at the same time, you're held in, and I came out almost last! Obviously if you're not racing full length races as most won't, there will always be clusters of cars pitting together, so its a regular problem. You've got to ignore your pit crews call to come in every time

It feels absolutely fecking sensational when you hook up the apexes at Spa, gotta tell you. You really have to work hard to keep the car on the track and on the right line, I'm still struggling myself. Very happy with the game, should get plenty of play out of it

9th at Malyasia. Happy with that. Could have come 7th on the last corner but overshot the corner trying to overtake Kubica :(

What happens if you ignore a pit call?

It is a really idiotic thing to let through and its not the only thing either.

Yeah it's annoying, but I enjoy it as part of the fun. I'll never pit with everyone else if I'm mid pack, I'll make my tires run a longer stint and then come in a little later.

Obviously better if fixed, but after a couple of times it just becomes part of the game.

2nd race - 11th in Australia, just off the points. Moved it up to 30% race distance as well which seems about right. My eyes are bad enough as it is at the moment without staring at the screen for a solid 2 hours. Kudos to anyone that can do a full circuit.

Not come across this pit bug yet. Doing what Muller does and just ignoring team orders. I always come in a lap or 2 later and that seems to be working fine.

Really struggled at Shanghai. Qualified last and finished 16th thanks to a 10 second penalty :(

Yeah. Came in around 6 la[s late

The lap they called me in had some 8 people in the pit lane.

Catalunya is almost unplayable

That "s" turn right at the end of the lap is driving me crazy

Just stuck it on pole in australia with a time of 1,30.278

Im 1.059 clear of vettel in second

Loving the game so far (except the pit stops)

That race is a bitch. I had rain all through quals and the race. Spun off multiple times in quals so started last and managed to get up to 19th or so in the race before spinning off again and then again so was 24th. Overtook teammate Trulli (who seems to be last every time) but then hit some massive sign when trying to get into the pits and destroyed me car :D Glad that one is over...

I could not agree more. it's honestly driving me mad. 60% rain chance in Qualifying got me 20th on the grid.

The race was a disaster. I have no idea how to get through 13 laps of spinning on that final turn and countless journeys through the gravel.
Just need to get it out of the way.

Oh and the part at the pits, I did it too

Front wing flew off somewhere.

What's the best tips for learning to manually brake? I've had auto brake on since the start as I've played a lot of Forza recently which had me braking and turning at the same time which just doesn't work.

My setup for career mode is all aids on and intermediate AI as I'm not the best...but I feel restricted by the brakes and know that I'd get much better times with the aids off but it's just about removing one at a time. Same with online as you can always tell who has the auto brakes on and who doesn't. Is it just a matter of using the racing line and hard braking when the line is red and then turning once you're off the brakes?

Same here.

Tried practice at Shanghai without the breaks assist and it was really really difficult to say the least.

I just did a 7 lap grand prix race at Monaco on easy but with manual brakes as Hamilton and it was lightning quick so to see the difference I did a time trial on that circuit - first lap with manual brakes to set the ghost time and 2nd with auto braking and the manual braking was 2.27 seconds faster after one lap! Multiply that over a 15 lap race or so and that should equate to a good few grid positions. I think my days of manual brakes are over :D I think I couldn't do it originally as I was still in Forza mode, but braking before turning now doesn't seem too hard at all.

just finished qualifying in australia, well off the pace! 22nd on the grid for the race but all is not lost, i was 21st in bahrain and finished 10th. i also tried spa in the wet on the grand prix mode with button, that bus stop chicane in the wet with all assists off is damn near impossible to nail!

I yet can't get it. Maybe I'll give it a go tomorrow or wait until I get a controller or a wheel!

Don't even want to imagine Spa in the rain right now :nervous:

it was rough man:nervous:

ran wide right through the eau rouge, managed to stay on okay then until the bus stop chicane, applied brakes far to late and just shot right across the thing skidding on the way out of it. tried monaco on the wet too and that was shit hard too

Well Monaco is hard with or without rain. The s curve when you come out of the tunnel, without break assists on almost always costs me a "corner cutting" penalty

Spa I remember being horribly difficult to drive around in F1 2000. Can't imagine how bad it will be in this :eek:

Well stuck on Australia, i've got tyre ware on and no matter what happens, my tyres turn orange (it's in the wet). I seem to have to change my tyres twice during a race while the AI only switches them once.

My team are also retards and keep putting the wrong tyres on my car. Very, very annoying!

I've decided to race a season as Michael Schumacher. I figure I'm probably gunna do pretty crap at this stage (medium level, braking and ABS assist off), and if I do crap he does crap, so hey...

Completed the Bahrain grand prix. Still not managed a race where I'm pointing in the right direction the entire time, I did qualify 6th and finished 5th though so pretty happy with that at this stage

What a horrible circuit it is, all looks the bloody same, and a really annoying twisty midfield section where all you ever seem to do is brake and turn, brake and turn

What game this is.

Racing Aus in quali the rain came down, everyone sliding around 10-15 seconds slower laps, spray everywhere when a car is in front of you.

Managed to scrape into 2nd quali, finished 17 (last) going into the race.

Got an upgrade in the practice session (cruise map for the engine) was a big help in the rain. Loving it. Some serious sessions tomorrow in between the match and the real GP.

If you found Australia bad wait till you get to Catalunya in the rain

I hated catalunya too, in the rain I struggled to see the track then in the dry the track seems like a totally different circuit
