F1 2010

Eh?

Operation Flashpoint was very well supported. The developers, BIS (not Codemasters, they were the publishers) released OFP's final patch in April 2004. Not bad considering the game was released in June 2001. Almost three years....that's fantastic support by any standard!

*Sigh*....They just don't make them like OFP anymore. :(

Sorry I mean op flash dragon rising, last years release not the classic original.

Just did a 2:01.5 second lap around Bahrain in a lotus. No assists and Wheel.

Well happy with that.

what laps are you all getting so far?

i'm still trying to figure out how to get mirrors on me car.

I'm also struggling to find the menu to turn things off. My car is invunerable atm? Is that a standard setting on easy?

Best around Bahrain so far is 2:05:14 also in a lotus

If you for example press A on xbox when you stand on the difficulty level, a menu will open in which you can customise damage, ai,...

I've had a 2:04 with the lotus in Bahrain but I can't keep it consistent at the moment. I drive with the xbox gamepad, no assists, well difficult.

I'm playing on PC btw. Managed to sort it though :)

I'm attempting to learn Bahrain before I let me doing the braking. On tracks I know I'm doing pretty well with everything off. Tracks I don't know I just fly off every corner heh.

Theres one bend on Bahrain I keep spinning on, although i'm probably touching the curbs too much :)

I think there is one "s" turn everyone's struggling with at Bahrain

Qualifying at Australia for me now. I like this track. Not too many turns, lots of straights :D

ok so wtf.

2 punctures during practise session 1. Ok so I skip to qualifying, manage to get my lotus into the 2nd round and finish 15th. I then get pushed down to 24th, appartently I caused dangerous driving in session 1 and speeded in the pitlane during qually.

Right so I start the race well and on lap 5 I've passed 4 cars and 1 has pitted. I then get ANOTHER puncture on my back right, luckily i'm right next to the pitlane, so I swerve in, have my pitstop and then go out. 2 laps later, i'm meant to go in to the pitlane for a scheduled stop to change tyres... so why the hell didn't they change them when I had a puncture!!! Bare in mind this is a 15 lap race.

Oh and with Bahrain, try and avoid going onto the curbs, it actually makes you faster if you avoid them and i've not spun since.

First impressions are overall ok, but you need to do a lot of tweaking first!

I don't like the standard wheel settings, the throttle and brake are way too sensitive taking away control. Also, the wheel feedback is a bit shit, although you can ramp it up, it never really lets you know you're about to lose it.

Braking is also far too simplistic, even with everything turned off.

However, there is definitely more there to play with in terms of car control. Straight away I don't like any of the engineer set ups, you have to do a lot of work to get a decent amount of understeer without making the car ridiculously twitchy. Kerbs and gravel seem hit and miss too.

I've had a JD or three, so I won't be attempting career tonight, but I'm definitely going to play around with the settings some more, there is a decent drive in there, it's just getting to it which will take time!

Im shit at this can't even get in to the top 20 always last on easy settings but it is the first game I've played in a year.

I'm using multiplayer to get used to it. Everyone has all airs on so no point not doing and if you can stay on the track you've a decent chance of winning. Just annoying when the same people keep ruining your race, whether intentionally or because they are shit.s

Ah. Playing hard and without breaking assists is not too easy. Struggled to a 15th place in Qualifying at Malaysia

I have downloaded this game but i can't seem to play it online, says i need a Product key :(

Yup neither can I. Not really tried but pretty sure you can't play online with these downloaded games unless you use Hamachi.

My race was going quite well, was up to 8th after starting in 15th and then suddenly the commentator (on the TV) shouted as Pompey scored a 6th goal, I lost my concentration and got rammed at a corner and spun and spun and mowed into a wall and had to get into the pit to repair front wing damge

hah, I just tried having a race on Monaco with the lotus on Hard. Even with brake and gear assist it was nigh on impossible. Good luck chaps :D

I'm not impressed with the feedback from the car. It's as if the rumble and force of the wheel was an afterthought! You just don't get enough feel for what the car is doing to make tiny adjustments worth while.

I hope they patch this, but doubt it :(

I can't find anybody online to play for love nor money (PS3). I thought it would be bussling on release day, problem my end?

Monte Carlo is meant for the Easy level :D

Playing with gears on the keyboard is virtually impossible.

I have got Hamachi.. but what's the story behind this?

Has to be. Are you using quick race? I found one and then stayed with the same people for quite a few races and haven't had any problems, even yesterday.

Back in single player, I'm doing the 2nd race and was set 20th as the qualifying target. My last lap was my fastest and the time recorded was after the session time had expired but I only made 21st. The good thing was that my last session made me leap-frog Trulli by 5 100ths of a second :D I actually celebrated it as a minor victory

Yeah I think I wasn't waiting long enough in the lobby whilst it searched in the background. Unbeaten online so far in 5 races, gotta say though this is mighty smooth online with no noticeable lag at all.

I'm absolutely garbage! I've turned braking assist off because it seems to defeat half the point of what you're doing. I also had to rejig the user controls because I couldn't get to grips with the layout, using left analogue for directions and L2 for brake was beyond my talent!

Spent about an hour on (custom) easy racing random GP practice sessions. In the last ten minutes I finally set some times that weren't rock bottom with Hamilton! Took about half an hour to set a time, they're fecking harsh when it comes to minor infringements

I'm not too down about it though, game should have plenty of life about it as I improve and make my way through the level settings. It's not knock your socks off good, I know what people are saying about not feeling the car, but it does look damn good. So many times I've raced Monaco on different games, that was something else tonight though

Yeah, the graphics apart from the bright days for some reason are fantastic. The more you play the better they seem to get. Sound is immense too.

Not perfect but a damn fine game nonetheless. Hooking a lap up is almost race pro like, the more you play, the more addicted you get.

Had a cracking time trying my first career race in Bahrain earlier tonight.

Did a fair few laps on all the practice sessions, finsihing anywhere from 6th to 12th then went optimistically into the 2 qualifying rounds where my arch nemesis Mr Raincloud showed up. After those 2 I ended up 17th on the grid but was still confident of finishing above my team (Virgin) target of top 20.

Race was epic (20%, 10 laps). Took 2 places after the first couple of corners and then knocked a couple more off by the end of the 2nd lap. A couple came into pit early and then by the 4th my garage was telling me to pit. I ignored this (knowing about the pit lane bug) and found myself in 6th after everyone else had puilled in. Was driving well now and pitted on the 5th lap..came out in 12th but then had a nasty spin on the new tyres...back down to 20 after letting everyone past. Managed to regain my composure and pick a few places during the next couple of laps. One of the Ferraris had a problem and had to pit again so I find myself in 15th. Could hear it breathing down my neck during the final 2 laps (it was Alonso) but managed to hold him off and keep 15th. Was very happy with that although I know after the practice sessions I could have done better.

Really fun game. The AI is particularly impressive in this. They certainly fight for a spot and won't let you keep it easily.

Remember lambs that this game was designed for controller users first and foremost. Codeys really don't care about the sim users at they're not their target demographic. If you've ever played grid, the wheel options on that are hilarious.

Nope, play with wheel and then controller and say that.

The FF is certainly not the best that's for sure, but it beats playing with the controller hands down.

The resistance on the wheel is really good which helps, but the feedback from losing traction is more sonically than through the wheel.

Once you realise that the highest pitch scream is your wheels about to give up it plays really well. Very good audio cue but the ff needs a tweak for me.

How do you download games for XBox?

As I said, the wheels users are not who they are appealing too. You can think what you like, but this game was built to cater to the controller users first and foremost. Played it using my G25 and its as good as Shift, which in the grand scheme of things was not fantastic. Didn't really expect anything more anyway. Especially coming from Codies.

iRacing have a 3month for 1 deal coinciding with the release of Spa and the Williams f1 car so that will fill my F1 need.

2 qualifying sessions? I'm playing short racing weekend and I just have one session of qualifying.

so i had my first race last night after qualifying in 21st, doing long weekend races with 50% of the race length. fecking loved it, first turn and chandhok spins into buemi causing a bit of chaos in front of me. kept a cool head and came out of turn 2 in 17th place. slowly worked my way up to 15th, struggled a bit getting past petrov but eventually managed to take him at the apex before the pit lane straight. pit stops helped me get up to 10th and after my stop i came back out 14th. massa was having a shocker and i found myself in front of him in 8th place with 8 laps left. couldnt shake him and spent the next 7 laps on the defensive trying to keep him from getting by, was intense! every time i looked back he was all over the rear of my car.

then on the last lap i spun off after working so hard to prevent a spin all the race!!! came back on the track in 11th behind hulkenberg and then managed to over take him at the final apex to get 10th place

i fecking love this game!:D some tiny things i would like to change but considering we have not had an f1 game in a while this is a great start!

What a race!

Started in 5th - a real weather hit quali session - I got out early and got the only dry lap going! From there I got up to 2nd on the first corner, and held that position all race. Pit stop put me down to 3rd when the other stops had come and gone.. and Alonso and Massa were pulling away..

But then I saw something on the track up ahead. It was an upside down Ferrari, and Alsono was now looking at the world rather Australian. 2nd, get in!

But then ahead off the track was Massa with a pucture. I took the lead, and despite late pressure from Hamilton, I held on to take the win. So happy.

This game is superb.

The AI seems good when you are racing them closely but once you pull a gap or they do, it starts to feck up.

I was racing the two virgin cars, doing the same laptimes as them close fighting. Then they pulled in the pit early and I had a 25 second lead. They come out of the pit and start doing the same laptime as Alonso is doing in the lead, like 4 seconds faster than me on hard cold tyres. They catch me pretty fast and after that they start lapping the same times as me again. Crazy.
