Ever Banega

Dont feel there's a need to make a new thread about it, but just going back to this. Valencia have signed Pablo Piatti from Almeria for 8 million euros according to Cadena Ser.

This is to replace Joaquin who left for Malaga and is another good signing for Valencia, who on the quiet are adding some good players to their squad and creeping closer to having a team that can compete for 2nd place in la liga

Valencia has always been good at buying "value for the money". A quality team who operate under a different budget then the two at the top. I have always had them close to my heart. And btw their shirts are pure fashion.

If we talking about money then isn't Banega more of "value" then at least two out of three other guys from another thread. Just a thought...

No one will finish within 15 points of Barca and Real anytime soon.

Depends how much Valencia or Malaga improve in the transfer window and if they keep their best players.

Madrid and Barcelona will not be getting many more points than they currently do regardless of how many hundreds of millions of euros they put into it. The improvement wont be a lot because they win virtually every game already and it tends to come down to the matches between Madrid and Barcelona.

On the other hand Valencia and the rest drop points over the course of a season to other sides. So if they improve the team and it performs better against the other teams, they'll get closer and closer and being able to match or beat Madrid/Barcelona on a given day will help too. You dont have to be better than a team to beat them

On top of that theres always the chance Madrid could have a poor season and start dropping points to the lesser teams as well. If thats the case an improved Valencia or a much improved Malaga, which they have the money to do, could definitely jump on that chance

His quite good performance Vs. Bolivia (minus own goal)

Had his moments and it says something that I expect more from him, because really he did a good job for his team.

Didn't Sahin have a release clause and/or was in the last year of his contract? On the latter point! the likes of Clichy, Nasri, Young, Ozil and Khedira(?) and Khedira are just a few of many who have used the tactic to diminish the power of the club even further (or increase the power of the player) in transfer/contract negotiations and the number seems to be growing.

You're right, Sahin had a release clause, one that seemingly no one knew about until Real Madrid swooped in and grabbed him. You're right about the use of running down the contract as a key new tactic, it's not good for the game but I think clubs have partly brought it on themselves by the increasingly awkward extortion stance they take when a club makes an inquiry for a player.

Inter confirm their interest in Banega

Ekeke doesnt like this.. :(

I dont mind it really. Inter would be a decent move for him, but its just not going to happen for the ridiculous fees that have normally been stated in the Inter stories. And of course United would be a better move for him

Llorente had this to say on him:

Éver Banega – The club is yet to receive any offer for the player, and Llorente wants him to remain at the club. “I believe that he still has a lot to give Valencia. He’s young, an Argentine international and he’s an important player. I hope that he’s with us next season.”

Not completely closing the door on him moving this summer, but hardly suggesting he wants him to leave so bad he'd accept 9 million euros or whatever it was.

If Inter get Banega and Alvarez it will certainly give their midfield a lot more creativity.

I dont know this Alvarez, or at least, I dont know what he's like match to match. Only seen him on youtube. But if he has any creativity at all, why wouldnt Alvarez and Sneijder be enough creativity for one midfield? Cambiasso can do his bit too

Well I am thinking Alvarez would more likely be Sneijder's replacement or on the left of a diamond, not sure a midfield 3 of Sniejder, Alvarez and Cambiasso would offer enough defensive cover.

I havent really seen him as I said, but Brwned said he was more of a disciplined positional player than a flair player. So I cant imagine he'd be deployed at the head of a diamond like Sneijder

I think he's more likely to replace Motta or Stankovic in the lineup than Cambiasso or Sneijder. And the same if Banega is signed by Inter, Motta and Stankovic making way not Cambiasso or Sneijder.

It will take Alvarez at least a season and possibly two before he wold be ready to make an impact at Inter. Theres no way he is just going to step into Sneijders boots and become player of the year in his first season. Knowing how fickle Italian fans can be they will probably boo him for the first year for not being a world beater and then they will worship him like a God once he starts reaching his potential

not another Argie - if he does actually fit in, which is a big "if", he'll be off to Madrid at the first utterings from Marca

Dropped and might not make it back into the team for the next game. And Alvarez could play at of a diamond most likely, yeah. His most prominent attributes were attacking I was just impressed by his discipline.

Valencia sporting director Braulio Vazquez has made it clear that the Mestalla side have yet to receive a formal offer from Inter for midfielder Ever Banega.

Inter sporting director Marco Branca recently revealed that the Giuseppe Meazza outfit are interested in Banega, but an agreement over a transfer still appears some way off.

"There is no truth in the claims that Ever is close to joining Inter. Nobody from Inter has spoken to us about a potential move," Vazquez was quoted as saying by calciomercato.it.

"Right now there is nothing concrete. For the moment he is a player who belongs to us. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the future."

Vazquez then added that there is also English interest in the playmaker, but refused to divulge the identities of those courting the 23-year-old's services.

He added: "It is true that Banega is of interest to two Italian clubs and a couple in the Premier League, but I can’t say who."

The Argentina international, who is currently active at the Copa America, has a contract with Valencia until 2013.

Liverpool and Inter are those linked in the past. Who are the other Italian side and premier league side? I guess the chances are Roma and City since they have the most money and linked to a lot of players

Everton were keen to get him in the January window last season, so you never know they may be after him to replace Arteta who's rumoured to be headin back to Spain, possible exchange with some extra dough chucked in. Cant see him goin there tho!

I would think that Banega would be a Sneijder replacement if Sneijder left for us.. I personally think that would be rather ironic..

No chance.

They wanted him the summer before he played outstandingly for the 2010/2011 season. They've only ever paid half of what it would take to sign him, that was for Fellaini

Glad to see you still live in hope for this lad Ekeke.. he looks good but we havent really been associated with him tho, or maybe i didnt get the memo?

I dont think we'll sign him, but I'm sure if you asked me just over a year ago "Are we going to sign Hernandez" I'd have asked "Who?" and probably said no. In fact I'm rarely good at picking who we will sign

But there's no doubt he deserves to be mentioned in discussions about the likes of Modric and Nasri. He's earned that with his performances and he should be a factor in the market. For me he's better than Modric, so if Modric costs more then its stupid and he's a lot less value for instance. That doesnt mean I think we'll get Banega instead, but the better player should cost more obviously.

Ah right, i thought it was a Jan window!

You reckon Banega would go for around £35-40m though, Everton paid aproximately £15-20m for Fellaini..

I'd love him here as much as the next man, just hope we can get a surprise mid-field signing aswell as Sneijder

Well I was looking at Fellaini as £15 million.

I believe Banega is worth £30 million, not just on his current ability but on the fact he could and should be worth more than that in the next few years if he lives up to his potential.

The thing is, he's one of several Valencia players who have their ups and downs with Unai Emery. Manuel Fernandes, Miguel, Chori Dominguez, Banega and some others have all fallen out with him at times. And Emery is the kind of manager who will keep his best player out of the team to prove a point and to try and keep discipline. So over the past season Banega has been rotated in and out of the team

This could mean that Emery and Valencia are willing to part with him for a bit less than his max worth, simply because he hasnt been in the team every week like say Mata who they relied every week.

I'd be astounded if he went for less than £25 million though

Is he a softie or does he have a mean streak?

Complete nutter every once in a while. I think it was a friendly before last season he got sent off for stamping. Who takes a friendly that seriously? Ever Banega

Mostly a tough little Argentine, who will go down if he feels contact and knows he'll get a freekick.

@Ever21Banega Ever Banega
Gente .. Pero me quedo en el valencia !!! Felizzzz

Translation: People, I stay in Valencia!!!

Is that his real twitter?

Does he link to his webcam feed? If so, thats real...

Nah I've no idea if its his twitter. I'll ask on a Valencia fan site and see if they know...

I dont know. We should ask him

Although his comments about midfield can be odd at times. Could get any sort of answer.

Just that I haven't seen any interest in Bonega from United's camp, so curious if the management rate him.

I would say its pretty clear we dont rate him as highly as Jones, Nani, Anderson, etc. who we were fearful of losing to other teams so we snapped them up even if it meant them coming a year earlier than we wanted

As there has been interest from Inter and still not even a rumour about us

But at the same time I'm sure there are lots of players the manager rates but we dont go for them for one reason or another. I'd be shocked if he said he doesnt think he's a good player

Well there would be only one way to see test that theory of yours.. If Banega is in fact sold and we do not attempt to purchase him..
