Klopp's making a bit of a gobshite out of himself here. We have the rights to it? Is he trying to say no one else can mention YAWN? Ffs

They didn't actually have to pay him that much though. They chose to.
Letting him go would have caused total uproar. Think about the uproar on here when we didn’t spent 120m on sancho during a pandemic and times it by 100.

The one thing that worries me is the amount of idiots on social media spouting false equivalence comments at the players and the money they earn. They’re not understanding the stark reality of the situation, won’t buy in to it and will be contrary for the sake of being contrary.

Preston, they won the first two titles 130 odd years ago. This is following logic on this thread today, not my opinion.

Yeah, that's certainly the logic the fans of the Superleague follow. Preston should have cemented their top dog status with no risk of ever be relegated, because they were the elite at the time the competition was inaugurated. Stoke and Accrington too. And Notts County. The should have played each other forever in their elite competition with no one breaking it up. Does anybody think football would be as huge as it is if that was the way it panned out?

Watching Perez say what he says doesn't suprise me. The guy is living on the other planet.

Imagine actually wanting to watch a comfort league where absolutely nothing matters and your team gets some tinpot trophy handed to you by Perez and Woodward.

feck me

How is it different than crooks like Platini and Blatter handing out World Cups and CLs?

Florentino Perez: "Real Madrid won't start from zero because all our [European] titles won't be forgotten"

So they want to retain the heritage that was only possible due to UEFA formally establishing the European tournaments...

So let's keep inflating the bubble even more and delay the inevitable?

The lack of self-awareness of these cnuts is quite remarkable. Like a game that's lasted 150 years is suddenly going to die unless a few rich clubs can go on spending like drunk sailors. Fecking delusional..

Probably not fans at all. They're bots.

At least this rules out Napoli and Roma as two of the three remaining founding members.

I get the sense that Perez is out of control and the other cnuts would probably not like him to front this PR disaster

Yes. It’s absolute nonsense to think PSG paying 360m for two fecking players hasn’t inflated the market. That PSG and City offering Messi a blank cheque hasn’t inflated his wages. It’s also total hypocritical nonsense to think it’s equitable and fair to allow state funded clubs to spend whatever the feck they want whilst saying to traditional clubs you have to share your media revenue equally. You either enforce FFP or open up media revenues to traditional clubs allowing them to compete. Otherwise you get the clusterfeck situation football now finds itself in.

So you are in the business of making up everything from facts to what I said while not answering questions? Did oil money made Barcelona spend 120m on Griezmann and pay him 600k per week? Did PSG and City magically appear during summer 2019?

Barcelona are responsible for their terrible decisions, no one forced them to do it, no one told them to spend 120m on Griezmann, 135m on Coutinho or Dembélé. They are the only ones in football doing it almost every summer, so unless you are ready to claim that PSG and City exclusively affected Barcelona, you are full of it.

If Sky are serious on this war on football that they helped create, then make all Sky Sports free to air then to show you’re motivated by the spirit of the game rather than the money everyone thinks you are.

The irony was sweet watching tonight as they’re condemning greed to immediately cut to plugging a Chisora vs Parker boxing PPV for £20 then going to 4 mins of ads

So their hands were tied?

I understand the sentiment but I still think it's nonsense. If the player wants so much money that it could bankrupt the club then feck him. You tell the fans exactly how much money he was looking for and make him look like the mercenary he is.

It's an absolute disgrace how much money Messi is paid.

Florentino Perez: "The contract of The Super League is binding. Nobody can leave. All the clubs signed the contracts last Saturday"
For those who still think that this isn't happening...

Uh oh.

What a mess. The future of football doesn't seem too bright right now. And to be fair, UEFA and FIFA played a big part on this. If they had financial fair play rules that actually did something, this would not have happened IMO.

This would absolutely have happened regardless. Most of these clubs are run by businessmen looking at this as an investment with a need for a growing return. The only way to accomplish that, in their eyes, is to eventually do something like this, even if they succeed at some point it won't be enough and something else will come up because these are the corporate culture where enough is never enough.

The pressure of competing and the embarrassment of them losing Neymar for the utterly ludicrous fee made them do it. Shite decisions made by idiots but not made in a vacuum. I know you suck at the teet of PSG and City so I’m not going to engage anymore but all the numpties who banged on about them being good for football and how great it was that FFP failed are now seeing where it has led.

Let's not be pricks about kids getting books.

Ultimately, yeah...although I still haven't came to terms with how I feel overall about PR agencies and the increasing move to performative activism for easy engagement...it reminds me a bit of the trend a few years ago of YouTubers picking up homeless people, getting them a meal and a haircut while shoving a camera in their face. OK, there's maybe a 'greater good' aspect but it's all a bit...yeah...

It's a big topic in the industry right now, across all companies. Roc have obviously went that way, and a lot of us are joining them.

My fault for even bringing it up. Discussions about it are just a near constant aspect of my job right now...and I'm sort of just typing a stream of conciousness (including this messy post obviously)

Big business & TV have been ruining football for decades now. This is just the latest outrage..
The first 4 world Cups I watched had just 16 teams competing. They were perfect. It was a perfect competition. Now what have we? 32 teams? Daft.
Same goes for The European Nations Cup. It used to be a knock out, home & away competition. That was fine. Then they changed it to 8 teams in two groups of 4.better again. Now it's some ridiculous number with the likes if Andorra, Lichtinstéin & Gibraltar competing.
I long for the days when everyone kicked off at 3 on Saturdays, the FA Cup was revered, internationals were taken seriously and live games on TV were like hens teeth.

So all of world football is on the shoulders of these 12 clubs?

I wonder how those even remotely trying to find excuses of this shite are feeling now. It's all about the rich getting richer, being able to mindlessly spend hundreds of millions of pounds.

So we can dispel the rumours that City and Chelsea will back out then?
Pretty much, yeah. Honestly, I don't even know where those rumours came from. I wasn't expecting any club to pull out (no matter how much I wished for it to happen), and this pretty much seals it.

Yeah, the only way this would not have happened or been in the pipes is through a fit and proper ownership structure, and ensuring it's majority fan owned. But hopefully that's where this will lead - long shot, but it's more in the public consciousness now than it was 2 days ago.

Imagine blaming oil fecks for this, holy shit what the feck is with this desparate focus shift. Agents getting millions and being more powerful than ever, that trend didnt start since PSG/City/Chelsea, that monster was created long ass time ago by the clubs and now they cant control it. They were throwing money left right center and now they wanna save football, guess they loved days of Galacticos fecking bunch cnuts.
