Europa League 2011/2012

I'll be rooting for the Basques as well but they've not looked particularly sharp in what has apparently been preparation for this Final all along...Of course, Los Rojiblancos aren't the usual pushovers with a decidedly different look to them under Simeone

Plus, Madrid looked superior to Bielsa's men back in March in a La Liga encounter, albeit without Llorente

Will be a close game, but hopefully ATM will pull through and win the competition again. Been a bit of a resurgence under Simeone, and although they will probably miss out on 4th it will cap off a decent second half of the season and something to build upon for next year.

Looking forward to this, will be watching the game with my sisters boyfriend who is half-Basque so will definitely be cheering for Athletic Club.

Hopefully, by the end of today, we can say that we have been knocked out by the eventual winners of the Europa League. :smirk:

It would be great to see a Athletic Club double and watch Barcelona go home with nothing (except three super cups)*

Two Super Cups and a Club World Cup then

I think Bilbao will be winning this. They have a very good squad, and they do play some very impressive football. I'd go with a Europa League victory for Bilbao

I really want Bilbao to win this. They've been sensational in the competition, they made us look like morons.

Class fans too. They gave Giggs such a great response when he came on as a sub, and they applauded Rooney's great goal.

Nice stadium, two good teams. Looking forward to the match.

Even so, we'll never be able to take this competition seriously over here as long as Channel 5 has the rights.

He has been for the majority of the season? For me Athletic look the stronger team but Madrid are favourites?

I know but I prefer him to watch as a CM.I see midfielders who have to play at the back as wasted specially when they can so good in the middle

I know what you mean, bit of a shame not seeing him in his natural position. Seems very adept at CB though and it's how the spanish teams play with ball playing centre back's.

Wouldn't be suprised to see Barca or Madrid in for him in the summer to replace Puyol/Carvalho.
