Europa League 2011/2012

Good goal for Capel. From what I've seen (been trying to fix something so haven't been able to watch it properly) Sporting have been the better team. In the first half especially.

Sporting should really go for third.

Return legs will be interesting in both European competitions. Maybe except for Valencia v Atletico which seems dead already.

Athletic have looked like a different side to the one that got them through into the semi's.

How shit are the officials behind the net

Valencia with a late goal. Could make the world of difference, only need a 2-0 win at home now. Atletico wont be easy to keep out again mind you

So all return ties will be interesting then. Nice change from the quarter-finals where only Metalist v Sporting and Hannover v Atletico looked alive in EL and Barcelona v Milan was open in CL although with a huge favourite in Barcelona.

Atmosphere in Lisbon is fecking electric. So loud it's even making my TV shake

I happened to be in town and managed to get a ticket for only 10 euros. I'm not a Sporting fan but I must says the atmosphere was simply amazing.

After the shit season Sporting is having in the league, you can feel the fans really want to win this cup.

2-1 might not be enough though and Sporting really deserved to win by a larger margin, really unlucky and Bilbao did very little to deserve an away goal.

Falcao needs just one more goal to be outright top scorer, he's level with Huntelaar atm. It may be the Europa League but to be the top scorer two seasons in a row in Europe with two different clubs is outstanding.

Chelsea really had the right idea when they wanted to bring him in instead of Torres, he would've cost only slightly less and doesn't have the same reputation but is a much better striker at the moment. I think Villas Boas still wanted him last Summer but wasn't given money from Abramovich.

Would have been a good fit given his physicality, range of finishing and ability in the air. A proper number nine.

Atletico seem to get their hands on some fantastic strikers time and time again.

True - Falcao, Aguero, Forlan, Torres, Vieri, Hasselbaink is an impressive array of talent.

Time to wake up, Europa League fans.

Oh god, Martin Atkinson referee of Bilbao Sporting.

How the fecking hell does he do it?

I'm sure we have to buy Van Wolfswinkel - just seeing his name on the teamsheet will always make me smile. Irrespective of his ability.

That was a very sweet assist from Llorente.
