ETH Out Thread

He's a fraud who's managed to live off that one Ajax season in the champions league, and the fact that he's bald and dutch maybe, but he's absolutely not good enough and will be shown up in his other jobs.

No reason to be sentimental about him, he isn't good enough and should be let go before the rot sets even deeper.
And in that legendary season he got knocked out by Tottenham, which everybody seems to forget.

I'd be over the moon if he was gone before Porto, but I think we'll wait till after Villa

Yeah no chance he goes until next Monday, INEOS will give excuse it's too short notice for Porto and Villa

His severance package will be big enough to force us into having to do with interim coach for the rest of the season. I'm fed up as much as anybody else, but things could go worse soon. I don't see any proper manager coming here in the middle of the season. Tuchel rejected us already.

We dismissed Solskjaer and had Carrick take charge for a few games until Rangnick arrived. It’s not impossible and this seems even more pitiful than that instance.

I hate this feeling when you want your team to lose just to get rid of an inept manager. I’m sure he’ll somehow manage to win one of the next two coming games and therefore stay safe for another month. If at least he was a tad bit likeable you could cheer for the team.

Yeah can see that exact thing happening

There needs to be an international break in the near future for that to even be an option.
There's constant breaks early season.
Usually it's annoying they disrupt United games but right now we probably don't want to be playing much!

We've seen it a few times this last decade.
Team look woeful, horrible defeat, pressure ramps up. Then a couple of decent results take the temperature down a bit delaying the inevitable.

The sack needs to happen ASAP. If a proven manager isn’t available right now then give it to Ruud until a proper manager is recruited.

What we’ve been witness to cannot continue and the players need a clear signal from the board that mediocrity, if we can call even that, will not be tolerated.

This is not a difficult decision for INEOS to make.

Can’t comprehend how the known issues with Ten Hag’s game plan can’t be resolved by him. How doesn’t one of the coaches have a word in his shell?
What plan? I couldn’t get over how we started the game not withstanding Spurs opening goal it was the way we as the home club approached the game in such a negative flat way, it was awful, no passion, nothing to offer and we in no way resembled a football team and that is all down to the manager/head coach who sends the players out after a team talk to win a game of football, ETH obviously doesn’t do that.

Exactly. I am done with the excuses, every 3rd performance under Ten Hag is like this. Every time we come against a team with players that are semi capable we crumble.

Now he is using the red card as an excuse, only deluded people will think that changed the game, we would have lost 3/4 - 0 regardless of the red card.

He just needs to get sacked now, INEOS needs to act now.

Why Ruud? What has he done? We don’t want to g through another shitstorm and clusterfeck of another interim manager.

Had a good season in Holland but that's it. Think the Ruud sentiment is just for caretaker to be fair.

If we are changing I prefer the idea of Tuchel for 2 years.

ETH was turned down by Spurs because the Spurs board through he lacked the personality and motivation to take the team to the top four post Mourinho.
Let that sink in, Daniel Levy saying ETH lacks personality!

Is it me but I do not think Ruud will be a good appointment. He is there now on the coaching staff and we cannot defend or attack.

I dont see him changing anything.

I guess the counter to that was that McKenna/Carrick were on Ole's staff and both are very different managers to Ole.

I wouldn't want to us to appoint Ruud for anything longer then a couple of games - but he's the obvious choice for a caretaker manager.

I agree with this post, and from what I've seen from Ipswich under McKenna, both in the Premier League and the Championship, I've been impressed and I view him as a potential future candidate for the United job. Whether that's now, summer 2025, or further into the future, I don't know, and it isn't for me to decide. But I like what I've seen.
:+1:

Are they?

Whilst McKenna might seem different, lets see how far they go before judging them as managers.

Just heard on ChatSport that Eric has the full backing of the board and that the club is looking forward to Seville and the Villa games with Eric in charge.

Hopefully he can go after those two games but we will probably give them two a damn good spanking and Eric will be here all season.
Actually I can’t see that happening and if Villa play anything approaching their A game then we will get well and truly dicked and surely no board will back him then.

I think McKenna has learnt his trade, oh he’s only had a few handful of games in the PL, so what? That’s more experience than these foreign managers have.

We didn't have a game only a few days later when we sacked Ole though if memory serves me right

Well the fans aren't looking forward to either

We’re in a shitstorm and the cluster only gets worse if we do nothing. The interim appointment only needs to last as long as takes to bring in a proper manager, weeks or months.

Would anyone say no to Unai Emery? Although I think he’ll be bonkers to leave Villa right now. Nagelsmann is the manager i want the club to go for but he seems comfortable enough as Germany manager
Emery wouldn't be first choich - like you, I'd like Nagelsmann or Alonso, but neither seem gettable at this point. So yeah, I'd happily take Emery over this current torture we're enduring.

There may be an element of that in one or 2, Zirkzee and Ugarte probably need time to settle but the others are all experienced players who have played at big teams and international football. Sure, we have done kids too but they have gone through the ranks and if anything it’s the kids who have been the best so far.

No, I just think that this manager can’t get a tune out of them. He doesn’t recognize that against better teams the match is won or lost in midfield. What worked in Holland against poorer teams won’t work in the PL where even the poorer teams have good players capable of turning you over.
I just don't want to throw the towel in on another manager, I really wanted Erik to come In, grab the squad by the scruff of the neck and shake them up but it's just rinse and repeat.
I just can't believe we interviewed De Zerbi and Tuchel and nothing progressed from the talks. De Zerbi would have shaken any team up wherever he went and Tuchel might have been brilliant for eighteen months and got us playing.

Wonder if Tuchel would reconsider. We need someone to give everyone clear instruction they don't look like they've played together at the moment and any one of them should be droppable regardless of status.

He obviously has a system for the midfield that leaves us wide open. Why does he persist when it clearly does not work.

If thats our thinking, I'd be going for Marco Silva over Thomas Frank.
Forgot all about Silva to be honest. But I'm open for anyone different than Ten Hag at this moment. Anyone who can give us structure and motivation - the very basics any manager should be doing at least.
Didn't Tuchel say in the summer that he was unavailable when the rumours about United looking for a manager were doing the rounds?
Ah, I missed any reports of Tuchel saying this, my bad. Bit of a shame, but Ineos must be seeing what's going on here and doing some serious work to get someone new in.It'll be interesting to see who we end up with.

Get used to it, this is football. For 99% of clubs this is normal. Stop living in the past and realise that the age of managers like Fergie getting 5 years is over. You will only get more than 3 years as a manager now if you're world class or a rising star that has promotd a club each season or created some kind of stable league positioning like Moyes has done for Everton or West Ham. Most managers get sacked for whatever reason within 2-2.5 years. This is normal even for big clubs.

Why? It’s not a relationship.
I know but you have to have a certain degree of loyalty instead of handing your chips in when it isn't going well.
Another manager will set us back or maybe it won't but everyone from Ineos to the kit man needs to pull together whilst ETH is still here.

United under EtH is on a downward path for more than a year now. That's far exceeding the reasonable limits of loyalty.

I think I'm going to sit out the next two games, and hope for the best now. If the club can't be arsed in ending the misery, I can't be arsed in partaking in it anymore.

Found Erik’s sleeper account.

Seems to me like the players have lost all respect for ETH. Probably started with his treatment of Sancho and snowballed from there. To the point where the last 2 seasons have been over before they had even begun.
At this point it seems that the writing is on the wall and action needs to be taken. Its clear as day that performances will not improve under the current regime so i can not understand the delay on pulling the trigger! Get him gone.... yesterday!

Why? Managers are employees, and they understand it's a results-driven business. There is no shame in having to sack a manager or in being a sacked manager - it's perfectly normal and happens all the time.
