Erik ten Hag | Currently unemployed

I really believe Ten Hag is a generational talent in the mould of Guardiola and Klopp.

He is also at the end of his contract, affordable, and by all accounts, wants to come here.

If the clowns in charge *somehow* manage to feck this opportunity up, I honestly think I'd be done with the club and football in general. There's not a great deal else to like or be hopeful about the club or team otherwise.

I mean that's just patently false though really, isn't it

No he literally hasn't a clue about much.

I'm amazed folk hang off his words like he has got the inside scoop on stuff.

I will admit he is good at what he does, got himself into this spot of rehashing stories as he in the know.

Notice the distinction with 'Sports' people, the suits and the bankers don't want him

If the ‘sports people’ want him it’s because they feel he has the ability to implement a clear style of play and take United back to the top , and if he does this then the bankers certainly won’t be complaining.

We are in a far worse state than those clubs. We have parastic owners who have a massive debt hanging over the club, only take money out and most importantly of call dont care if the team never wins another trophy or what the fans think. The three clubs you mention are owned or controlled by fans. Thats a huge point in their favour.

Gettign a good manager in shoud be possible, as despute these issuse the club is still a big platform for any manager or player. But lets at least be honest about teh state club is in and not pretend its a bit of dip.
You clearly don't know about mid 2000s Real or FC Hollywood Bayern. How about early 2000s Barca. It happens. Ours is just simply more recent

We're not even that good at the commercial aspects too. Commercial revenue growth have stalled in the last 4/5 years.

In fairness, if you had stuck your head out of the window in the last few years you would have quickly seen why!

Do any of those really compare to what's been going on at United for the last around 10 years? Real for example won the league more often in the 2000s than they did in the 2010s, they just had a bad streak of CL ro16 exits. Barca had just three years between van Gaal and Rijkaard. And FC Hollywood mostly refers to off the pitch scandals, they had two bad season, but they also won an UEFA cup and made a CL final and a bunch of semi finals during the 90s.

nah this is something more like liverpool 30 years without a title at the rate it’s going. They need to fix up very quickly, we could easily end up that way with the strength of the league aswell.

What’s his win percentage against the top four in Holland?
Had a quick peek at results, against all other top clubs it's positive, against Az and PSV only slightly though. But against Feyenoord it's 8 wins, 1 loss.

LVG is correct in his assessment of MUFC.We are no longer a football club but a cash cow for the owners run by a bunch of bankers and PR people with no idea about football.

Nothing has changed over the past few decades -- United has always been the most commercial club in England. It's just taken it to a new level -- but so have other clubs who are just playing catch-up now.

Then you balance that with the dinosaur that is LVG. I think he complained about Bayern when he was there too if I remember correctly. He is a purist or naive -- just loves intellectualising about his philosophy -- and does not want to know who or how we pay for his meals at Wing's three times a week?

How else does he expect clubs to pay the bills including his generous salary or be competitive across Europe -- when the EPL wasn't the biggest payers in the past?

LVG is correct but also lets not act as if United's commercial nature is what attracts these managers.

LVG could easily have gone to spurs but he came to United because we are a commercially bigger club.

After going thru so many managers in such a short time, Ten Hag's appointment will be quite tricky. Obviously instant success is now long overdue. So what will be his KPI? What will he be expected to achieve and within what time framework? What will be the lowest bar below which he will be sacked? How much patience will the club, especially the fans, have with him?

Think this is always the problem when trying to build from a way back, or trying to implement a full new culture & way of playing at a club.

You only have to look at the opinions on Arteta, on here, on other clubs forums, even in Arsenal forums etc, that a large percentage of people aren't really interested in giving managers time.

It can become a difficult balancing act. Sure, fans say they will give 3 years or so. But what if the results aren't there, or even the performances aren't really there after 18 months? Again, 20+ months of Arteta folk weren't having him. Now I get that part of that is that he's not got a body of work to fall back on unlike Ten Hagg, but after a couple months work in this game, your previous body of work seems to go right out the window.

Perhaps you get away with a bit more patience if you have the personality like Klopp? Does Ten Hagg have the charisma that might work in his favour if things get difficult? Does he have what it takes to monopolise a support & rally a club round him like Klopp or Pep, as you have a feeling that's what it's going to need?

All the noises say he is interested but wants to feel wanted. Maybe we are playing it a bit too cool, but i'm sure if we decide he's the man he will come.

I just hope we don't make this process too drawn out and piss him off. There really should be no doubts about him IMO.

Don’t know if the reports are true about the players & staff are due to find out today on who the new gaffer is going to be?

If it is then we will all know too on who it is as stuff like that always gets leaked especially when it comes to Man Utd.

Maybe he'll say something interesting

"I'm not a geweldige chef-kok, but a goede maaltijd takes een klein beetje of tijd. But also, to offer a goede maaltijd, you need goede ingrediënten".

Well our next manager is a genius and he can speak multiple languages so it won't surprise me if he talks like that to show his multilingual prowess.
"United players say they are unable to understand Ten Hag's instructions and want an English manager"

Are you having a stroke?
No, he is just hungry, Google translation;
"I'm not a great chef, but a good meal takes a little bit of time. But also, to offer a good meal, you need good ingredients".

What? Luke Shaw to be next manager!??!?!?!?!? I give up!

yup but this all stemmed from on field success the money followed it wasn’t the other way round; even now at our worst moment we are bigger than spurs

and we certainly were at the time he joined us

united is a more attractive club to join for numerous reasons

But if you were a footballing club with no commercial interests, that club would not attract LVG.

"United players say they are unable to understand Ten Hag's instructions and want an English manager"
"United players then say that the English manager is unfortunately too harsh and doesn't make them feel happy, so they would prefer that the next manager be a teletubby. It is said that Tinkywinky is the preferred choice."
