Erik ten Hag | Currently unemployed

Easily the most unlikeable manager post SAF. That "classy statement" doesn't change that. During all his time here he would never take accountability, never admit a mistake, would never shut up about "his" two trophies while simultaneously ignoring our worst PL and CL campaigns in modern history. I would be shocked if he gets a big job ever again.

I'd like to thank Ten Hag for his service.

He created memories that will last a very long time, broke records and ultimately spent a fortune to overhaul the side, while leaving it in an even worse state than solskjaer, both in terms of lack of proper training and innate quality.

I think out of all his successes, his myopic approach to transfers was the most pleasant surprise.

Should have been given more time. Felt like there was still more for him to do.
I look forward to quoting this post in 2 years time when the Slot experiment suffers a similar fate.

I really thought he'll turn you into an elite side when you signed him and still find it utterly bizarre that he changed his playstyle so much compared to his Ajax' days. I can't remember a single manager appointment that went so disappointing. There are obviously worse coaches out there but I genuinely thought he could be the next big thing after seeing Ajax play like a Pep side in the UCL.
The big question about his Ajax team always was how much of it was "his" style and how much much it was demanded and enforced by the club. I've seen very little of them, but I think EtH's Utrecht team (where he had more control) might be closer in style to what he tried to do at United than his Ajax team.

And no, Ajax never really looked like a Pep side. Pep is far more risk-averse than EtH and that was visible in the CL as well.

I can see him back in the Premier in the next 5 years. Maybe at a West Ham sized club. I think he will not want his time in the Premier to be thought have being a failure and maybe spend a few years at a mid table club, seeing if he can get them a regular top 6 club and get some credibility back as a good manager

West Ham is a club that he'd want to avoid. Pellegrini a far more accomplished manager, yet he failed there.

I can see him taking a Bundesliga job. The Dortmund job might become available during this season.

I still think his ego wont accept that he failed in the league and will want another crack at it.

Personality and maybe a slight language barrier probably hindered him a fair bit.

He is fluent in English but I don’t think he conveyed himself well in English. I can imagine in Dutch he gives a much better interview for example.

Personality wise I simply don’t think he suits United at all. Refusing to call out some of the horrific referee decisions. Never stated any ambition to make United title challengers. Seemed happy enough fighting in the Europa league places

Giving him so much power over signings was silly too. Especially as that was an Overmars area as i understand. His scouting ability is clearly very poor. And he was too stubborn to leave it to people better placed
