Erik ten Hag | Currently unemployed

Winning pretty comfortably today, Haller scored two. RKC were having a good go of it before they conceded the first but Ajax look to be playing good stuff now.
I haven’t watched much of Ajax but you can see why he’s rated highly.
Yeah, proper master class that.

I didnt want to post it before full time to not jinx it, but of course that numpty defender gifts them an injury time penalty.

Let's hope he isn't watching this group. It's absolutely unbelievable how poor and unmotivated this group is.

I hope we back him with the right players, this team needs a complete overhaul!

My worry is how we do undo Oles transfer moves - Awb, Maguire, Ronaldo and more on big money. So next manager may be stuck with some of these players.
You undo them by phasing them out but unfortunately there are so many that need to go it’s near enough impossible to do it to them all at once.

We have to work harder as a group. Look at how the city players work in unison. Every time we got the ball they would hunt is down in a group of four. But we didnt do that to them.

Still waiting for the day when we dominate a guardiola team. It has never happened.

I don't know why you guys have hopes. He will go to City and will get Poch probably.

Probably the thing that has been most illuminating under Ralf for me, our play off the ball has made fractional improvements which given it’s about effort shows exactly what a shower the next manager is walking into.

We honestly need record turnover in players this Summer.

Should wait for a club willing to give him time/already good enough to implement his style.

The absolute state of these players giving up with 30 mins to go. They’ll continuously give in on their manager and Ten Hag won’t get enough time to buy his own players before the roof crumbles in either.

Are we going to build a team that suits his style? I fear we are going to force this squad on him.

Good luck to him or whoever takes over this fecking mess of a club. There won't be any miracles

This.

Neither Pogba, Rashford, Ronaldo, Bruno, Fred, etc are his kind of players.

He needs a total rebuilt.

I wouldn't go near the job if i was him. I don't think there's another team in the league who would capitulate like that after the 3rd goal, in terms of effort alone

He'll be thrown under the bus.

If i were him i wouldn't come unless a clause was added in the contract that majority of the team gets moved on.

Heads dropped and some downed tools.

Rashford, lingard, mct, fred downed tools. That left a gaping hole in the middle and we never got the ball.

I want him here, but it wont make a difference unless he’s given a transfer budget that can buy half a team in the Summer. Also has to have complete control and not made to buy players for marketability.

So I don’t hold much hope. Bet we get Pochettino and 3 more years of shite.

No he didn’t, he challenged for the title in a way that a title challenger challenges for the title. Was right in the title race before Chelsea beat them at Stamford Bridge the year Leicester won it, which was close to the end of the season.

Not true in the slightest.

He finished 3rd on 70 points that season, 1 point behind Arsenal and 11 behind Leicester. Getting 70 points a season is considered a title challenge these days?:wenger:

You could have said that 86 point season was a title challenge, but let's be honest that was 1 horse race since Conte implemented the 3-5-2 at Chelsea. Spurs challenged that year the same way Mourinho did during that season Pep got 100 points.

Unlike Spurs, Chelsea has a lower net spend and won 2 titles in the same period.

Some players from the academy need to be blooded into his system. 3 or 4 in/out too.

I still fully expect Poch though.

There's not a lot to work with. The bad players aren't good enough. The supposedly good ones barely ever play like it. There's no cohesion or team ethic.

Whoever takes over has one hell of a task next season.

Next seasons (plural). Will need at least two seasons to challenge, assuming the Board runs the club properly.

Was it a 2 horse race last season?

No , we aren't. Poch will get better results with this team but this guy will be like a fresh appointment from all stand points and I think it will help us long term

He will take Martial and Donny back for sure.

Dalot - Lindelof- Varane - Shaw
New midfielder - Donny - new midfielder
New Forward- new Forward- Sancho

This is the minimum we are looking at.

I have lost faith in this club. I am not even sure if Pep and Klopp could take us somewhere, given that the club seems to be completely inept at anything. I absolutely won’t put any expectations on a new manager turning it around, until I see it.

I doubt we’ll get a major squad overhaul next season as many here are believing. If the new manager is expecting a lot in the transfer season, I think he would be disappointed.

They certainly won't, imagine how they have squizzed the Mata and Matic tenured and to think that the same lot would accept taking hits on Maguire, AWB, Rashford, Shaw, Telles, Fred, McT, Bruno and Ronaldo to replace them at a cost circa £500m is being naive. This squad will be forced on him and it will throw him under the bus the moment he demands any form of physical and mental effort.

This is the laziest bunch around top level professional football, the likes of Burnley play with greater pride and commitment than this lot. Without a clear out the rotten attitudes we see on display will just spread to whoever comes in as a new signing. The best bet for this lot is a British manager who won't demand the pressing game that is anathema to them because revolutionary tactics will meet the same resistance that Ralf has faced.

No the next manager is screwed, I like Ten Haag but he’d have to change so much to implement his style successfully and I just don’t think he’d get the time or the backing to do so.

If he is number one choice we should get the deal done ASAP in case he actually realises what a bad career move joining Utd would be.

I wouldn't come anywhere near United if I were him. I'd rather wait for a better opportunity - City, Chelsea or Liverpool. Maybe one of the Spanish clubs. But as far away from this place. Where careers go to die, in more ways than one.

I think Ralph would like to continue himself, but with us not getting top4 he won’t get the chance (unless we win the CL which is extremelly unlikely). Therefore, we’ll get someone new in, hopefully ETH.

Considering how many fans want Ten Hag (including me) - I do find it interesting if he fails and then we pretend like we never wanted him.

I remember how Mourinho failed after everyone was crying for him and soon as he failed everyone pointed at the Glazers like the fans never wanted Mourinho in the first place.

It all depends if he's backed or not.

Let's not go into history revisionism mode, but Jose was at least blatant in who he wanted and who's face he didn't want to see.

It could appear he was right.

Back to ETH, back him, give him at least a 3 year contract with revision after the second full season.

We need to get back to being a football club first and foremost.

Well he did arguably want the player most of the fanbase dislike the most in Maguire.

My reservation with ETH before yesterday's derby was can he handle egos?

After the capitulation yesterday I'd get most of the egos out of the club anyway have a total rebuild...

He's my first choice but what if we get him and the club still doesn't kick on. What then?

How many more chances are the Glazers going to get? Madrid or Barca fans would have hounded them out by now where as we constantly tell ourselves things will get better once we change the manager again but they never do.

I'm so sick of these owners. It's almost criminal what they have done to us.

this will be a problem. At Ajax Ten Hag took a long time to get it right and should've/could've been fired at one point early on. But in the end he got it going and then the CL run began.
So i'm sure it'll take him some time for his tactics to start working, especially because the players at Ajax were already familiar with high pressing and here at United the players are trying.
