Erik ten Hag | Currently unemployed

Rumors are he wants to bring in his assistant, Mitchell Van Der Gaag. Aparently he is the reason Ajax have improved defensively so much under him. When he was coaching Excelsior, he had one of the best defenses in the Eredevise. He also has an offer to become the manager of Basel. So he has to make a decision between being assistant manager at Manchester United or become manager at Basel.

Who is Mitchell van der Gaag, assistant Ten Hag reportedly wants to bring to Manchester United

Find it hilarious that these fake articles are made and published like they contain any value or interesting details. Are you for real? Of course he’d most likely bring his assistant, like I don’t know, most if not all of them do?! Unless we have made Carrick or Fletcher available to him, or Giggs or Butt or throw former player x into the hat. Lazy, bullshit journalism, the Solskjær of journalists the lot of them.

You’ve literally picked 1 or 2 sentences out of the article to have a go at and you have the cheek to call them lazy

So there are people who actually believe Pochettino is better than Ten Hang? How is that even possible? Ten Hang built Ajax in to a team no one will want to play against. They are one of the top teams in Europe. He stands more chance of winning this campaign ahead of Pochettino s PSG.

Is pep staying another year? I thought he might be going to city. Seems like we might get ETH as no other top clubs is interested in him and our other candidates are either wanted by other top clubs or wanted to be tied down by their current club at the moment. Not against it and eth is definitely a much better alternative to ancellotti or Ralf ragnick.

 His side couldn't beat a weaker spurs team and drew the first leg against benefica. It is hard to believe that no other team wants to play them in the champion league. They are a good team, but I fear even real Madrid, Barcelona, and aletico over Ajax at the moment

I like Ten Hag but this cult like worship of him is bordering on insane levels. I've got in long debates over this on this thread so I'll make it short. Could you please let me know why Hag lost to Pochettino's Spurs in the 2018/19 CL semifinal from a 3-0 leading position going into the second half of their tie?

Ole beat Tuchel twice while he was at PSG, doesn't make Ole the better manager. Am not getting into a debate about ETH v Poch, but just saying that the outcome of a match doesn't mean one manager is better than the other.

Except that match was a CL semifinal. Solskjaer also beat Pep more than once but never in a game that actually mattered. Anyways it doesn't matter much. I just find the Ten hag worship hilarious. I'd love to see what he can do here if appointed but Poch would be my first choice

Yeah Pep and Tuchel wanted to lose those games.

Because they didn’t matter apparently:wenger:

Don't be an arse. Solskjaer even lost to Lampard in a cup semifinal after killing him more than once in other games. Failling to win any piece of silverware after getting so close was one of Solskjaer's undoings.

Ten Hag was beaten to the CL final by Poch and failed to deliver on the biggest of stages despite being a massive favorite and despite carrying a 3-0 lead into the last 45 mins of the tie, no excuses from me

No manager is perfect everywhere. Poch and Ten Haag are a wash. I’d prefer Ten Haag, but I don’t need to talk shit about Poch to do so. They’re both part of the new crop of top managers.

Don't bother mate. I tried reasoning with him, but all I hear is "hurr durr Ten Hag lost the semi final that makes him worse" while ignoring the simple fact that Ten Hag did everything the Poch crowd claims he did while at Spurs, except much much better.

Getting ten Hag and backing him fully on incomings and outgoings this summer, would be the biggest statement of intent from the club.
Yeah for sure. Would also be the double edged sword of putting a lot more pressure on for instant results.

We could perhaps as a fan base accept a little longer (doubtful) but media channels will be out for blood.

Would be very happy if Ten Hag is slowly becoming the top candidate. Feel with the amount of players leaving in the summer, he could really get a good opportunity to build a squad in his image.

Feels like there is momentum behind ETH being the pick. Could be just because that is what everyone has unilaterally decided today just for the shits and giggles but I think Poch to Madrid and ETH to us are the moves this summer.

I was going to mention that us, the fans, would be more patient and understanding of the situation if the manager is ten Hag. He just seems like the perfect fit and the right appointment for the club short and long term.

I'd be absolutely buzzing if he's the man we choose, it'd make me put more faith in Murtough etc for sure.

I hope it's ten Hag, but Pochettino wouldn't be a bad appointment either.

To be an elite manager and win major trophies consistently you need an aura. ETH has that aura in my opinion. Really hope it’s true

You love sitting on that high horse all knowing one don't you? I dont particularly care who united goes with when it comes to those two but Poch would be my first pick. I don't agree with the last part of your post, we don't have to agree

While I personally would be pleased if he were appointed, there is a (small) part of me that feels that Poch would be the right choice and that is mainly due to reports that the players want him. You can get any hipster coach in the world, but ultimately, if the players are not having him, then he will be a guaranteed failure. I don’t think the importance of the players being firmly behind a manager should be underestimated, and if Poch is who they believe in - it should be a massive boost to his chances.

Players (especially this group) have had too much power for ages. It’s always the manager who gets sacked as it’s easier/much cheaper to replace them over several players.

If the right manager comes in and ends up binning half of them, keeping the ones with the right attitude and replacing the rest with keen buys and United youth… I’d be all for it.

(That applies to Ten Haag and Poch).
