I’m going out on a limb here but I reckon one of the main questions/themes of the interview could well have been “what do you think we have we been doing wrong the last 9 years and how do you think we can fix it?” - heck they may have even been asked to do a presentation on it - just a hunch.
The answer would be fairly short. You appointed subpar managers that had different Football visions and let all of them try to build a squad based on their visions. Which has led you to spend a lot of money and build subpar disjointed squads.
That gets you a 3/6 on my scoring sheet. Great answer in terms of how we’ve failed but nothing about your vision going forward. Even Poch scored a 4…I expected better. No offense mate but you keep saying that this thread should just be about ETH but you seem to be posting almost exclusively about Ole in itYou might have something there -- I mean how do you hate something or somebody you never met, know the company or even the job, especially when it's only a sport?
Its self-reflective is anything.. when Ole's been gone six months now and yet ...here we are. Like some ex-gf.

You also applied a commerce filter to your signings that led you to sign young players you didn't need because they were apparently value for money purely as NFTs and old players you didn't need just because they were famous and kept the stupid fans happy (which is most of them). You swerved players you did need for the same reason. So for financial reasons you didn't even let the subpar managers follow their visions - and following that logic you eventually appointed one because that didn't have a vision at all - which ultimately led to a complete collapse on the field.
You also made it very clear that you didn't care about finishing higher than fourth so that became the club's ambition.
United have had zero commerce filter, as much as you like to repeat that, there is no actual indication that it's remotely true.
Of course. And the club isn't Disneyland either.
Tell that to Klopp. Tell that to LVG. Tell it to Ronaldo's agent. They would laugh in your face.
Did I say that though? Trophies is all that matters but the place was toxic with mourinho. LVG won a trophy but I bet you wanted rid of him because of his style of play. It took fergie like 4 years or something to win his first trophy as manger, solksjaer got 2 and a halve. I’m certain he’d of won a trophy sooner rather then later, got to like 3 semis and a final, just needed a bit of luck.Jose won trophies , try to explain that. if you'd take so called "better football" (although its not) over trophies then you are clueless
Well said. Imagine comparing Ole to Mason Greenwood or Jeffrey Epstein (also who the heck was an Epstein "fan"...?). That 'quality' of post results in an instant ignore from me.We seem to have a lot of self-deluded fools in the forum lately. The level of disrespect of a club legend is sad -- Ole's effort gave Fergie one of his best nights ever and yet...
United must have one of the worst sets of 'fans' -- as much as the RAWKs were deluded about the potential of the players, the United caftards here are everything you don't want out of supposedly 'fans'. Its embarassing.
More like fair weather fans.
They would tell you the club has been run on commercial first principles for years. If you think that doesn't include transfer policy then you don't understand the Glazer problem. What would they tell me?
Doesn’t make sense, you’d have to know the inner workings of the club to actually have a go at those running it
Im sure people within football know more than us.Doesn’t make sense, you’d have to know the inner workings of the club to actually have a go at those running it
Did I say not to sack Jose? He definitely should be sacked. What are you talking about, i have no idea why you are bringing up LVG. I am just saying he is bar far more successful than Ole as a utd manager, doesnt mean he shouldnt be sackedDid I say that though? Trophies is all that matters but the place was toxic with mourinho. Can’t see what connections Ten Hag would have at Utd? Donny? But even then that’s just a player.Im sure people within football know more than us.
Why, you do realize that the Klopp "disneyland" quote wasn't commercial but about Old Trafford and the value of playing entertaining Football for the fans? I'm not actually sure what LVG would have to say that has any sort of value, the man admitted that he thought United could sign any player in the world, he wanted Muller and Robben which was lunacy at the best of times and even if these players were remotely interested only a lot of commercial deals could have seen United able to afford these players.
An other thing about Klopp, he joined Liverpool, one of the most commercially driven clubs in the world and the kings of trademarking. Finally I would like to know exactly what Mendes has to say in details, the king of part ownership must have an interesting take on the subject.
This is breathtakingly out of touch.
Klopp made it clear that he considered Liverpool a 'Football First' club whereas we were not - hence Disneyland. LVG straight out said we were too commercial and ETH shouldn't come here. Mendes knows very well Ronaldo is more a brand than a football player these days. ETH has apparently already given him his marching orders, as expected by everyone who knows the first thing about modern football.
You do not need connection inside the club. People interact with them all the time, agents, etc. The club has also interacted with Ajax previously tooCan’t see what connections Ten Hag would have at Utd? Donny? But even then that’s just a player.

Its irrelavant. You don’t need connections at the club, because football exists outside of the club too and the club has to interact with the outside especially when it comes to transfersVan der Sar surely has connections at the club.

Firstly, there must have only been 3 people involved in that meeting. Whose the most likely leak then?
My guess would be none of them.
Its just some made up shite that they print without verifying and wont ever be denied by any of the 3 involved parties.
Na I think it’s too long ago, too many comings and goings. The story just seems made up. I mean how many times have we heard stories of managers going int a job and being shocked at a lack of fitness etc. the idea that clubs operations are open books just doesnt ring true to meVan der Sar surely has connections at the club.
He'll have plenty of connections at the club still. People at his level are always in cahoots with their counterparts at other clubs in the UEFA meetings etc.Na I think it’s too long ago, too many comings and goings. The story just seems made up. I’d take better football over trophies every day of the week and a Sunday. It’s just an entertainment where I want to watch my team giving it thier all and playing well. The 1 day of euphoria over a trophy doesn’t negate the other 364 days of the year playing crap football. Mourinho was the antithesis of everything this club should be!Jose won trophies , try to explain that. if you'd take so called "better football" (although its not) over trophies then you are clueless

Ironically it was many of the Mourinho fans who caused a massive rift in our fanbase originally and were willing to sell their souls for a tin pot. I want to win, but I want to win playing the ethos of what makes this club great and unique. Attacking football, youth, a strong togetherness. If any of those things are missing just for the sake of a league cup, it’s absolutely not worth it, just as Jose showed.
Old Trafford isn't a disneyland for adults or the Theater of Dreams. You should support an other club.
kidding
So let me get this right you’d choose bad football and a trophy here and there for entertaining football? Btw entertaining football means trophy’s will eventually come. Playing bad football means you may win a trophy with a bit of luck. People pay loads of money which they’ve earned through hard work to watch united at old Trafford to be entertained. It’s always been about entertainment with united, we’re not Burnley. With entertaining football comes results and trophies. Fans won’t be bothered losing games or finals by giving it there all and attacking. People moan when we lose when we’ve not even bothered trying. 11 men behind the ball and hoping to snatch a goal.Did I say not to sack Jose? He definitely should be sacked. What are you talking about, i have no idea why you are bringing up LVG. I am just saying he is bar far more successful than Ole as a utd manager, doesnt mean he shouldnt be sacked
Ole will win trophy sooner rather than later? Seems like you already forgot how bad we play and why he is sacked. We were playing bad football, dont even try to deny it. Don't blame luck for the semis and final , his decision making was absolutely garbage, he was mostly the reason why we lost the Europa league final. Oh and btw, you cant prove your point, because at then end, he was TROPHYLESS and we played bad football. He achieved nothing.
What is out of touch is...
And calling Ronaldo more of a brand than a football player is insulting for him and embarrassing for you. It's one thing to say that he is at the twilight of his career or not a good fit for ten Hag but it's an other to suggest that Ronaldo isn't a proper football player in 2022.
