If he can get the team to press from the front, play with intensity as well as dominate play, it will buy him time and support even if it doesn't result are still shakey.

I was very excited when we got the godfather of gegenpressen who inspired klopp. I’m managing my expectations this time.

Hopefully that will not be a hinder for him to implement his philosophy to a bigger club filled with egos.
Yeah i dont think he cares for egos. There was a lengthy post from someone knowledgeable, or it was from one of the YouTube videos, where it stated he gives equal time. Even to younger players he makes sure he focuses on them just as much.

Probably the most excited I've been for any manager since Fergie, which doesn't say a lot, but still, really looking forward to the summer now and seeing what he can do and hopefully see him butcher this current squad.

Football is very different now.

It really isn’t. I was around then and just as now, United is a huge job. I really don’t understand why people cannot see that because we’re in the same position we were when van Gaal and Mourinho took the job.

Wasn’t there a photo supposedly of him the other day at his agent headquarters? Maybe they went and snapped this photo as this doesn’t look like a photoshop job.

Welcome Erik. You're a brilliant coach and I hope our Board backs you. Don't worry, if it doesn't go the way we want we all know whose fault it will be.

Announcing it this early suggests that they are worried about fan engagement and they are expecting some humiliations against arsenal and chelsea.

I am too, to be fair.
Announce it at the end of the season and half the fanbase shit the bed & claim that the club don’t know what they’re doing.

Club literally cannot win.

On the other hand though, I’m really excited for this appointment, going to be an interesting summer!

Welcome to Manchester United Erik! Not expecting much next season. Won't be surprised if we finish 5th or 6th next season. Important to commit to his project long-term since we basically need to scrap this entire squad. More patience needed with this appointment than any of our previous ones.

Great move, but the real work needs to happen in the transfer window. Despite having what looked like one of the best transfer windows ever last season we have massively regressed.

Of those signings, Sancho would always have had a question in regards to the physicality of the Premier League and has so far only shown glimpses, but with the right players around him I'm sure he can thrive.

Varane is helping to maintain our world class medical training.

Ronaldo is a beast, but the biological clock is ticking fast.

I don't thing these signings were problems, more they were not the priority solutions. Midfield changing could massively improve our squads performance.

The 2nd place finish was more a multitude of luck and moments rather than something appearing as sustainable. This season has just exposed that.

Ten Hag has a tough job, but also the lowest expectations in his first year of any Man Utd manager for quite a long time.

I think we have to expect top 4 if he can get in a few key players. 2 CMs if top class are absolute essential. After that it's probably a striker, but I wouldn't be against trying to make some of our talented youngsters work.

Garnacho looks physically ready and has the energy and desire. Hughill and McNeil are fantastic finishers, but maybe not quite there physically, but still could be getting game time.

I'm all up for a Nunez otherwise who would be incredible and looks good value for money. We definitely don't want a big money Kane move. I'd much rather take a longer term view by blooding youngsters.

Replacing Maguire is also pretty critical. We can't play a high line with him and a low block and counter doesn't work against lower teams. A fast CB is a must.

These 4 signings would make a huge difference. I don't think we can expect much more than that this season whether we need it or not. What is clear is changing that spine should make the others around them better and may mean we don't need to be so gung ho on a full refresh.

If we don't get at least this, Ten Hag can't be judged properly because he won't have the tools for the job. It's like trying to remove a tight screw with a spatular. It's just not going to work.

Yeah let's stay grounded but I reckon, Rangnick coming to a team in a state like this was always going to be a bit difficult, implementing pressing in a team which was used to play counterattacking football for so many years, especially with a manager who hardly managed regularly last few years. So I think even though Rangnick wasn't a bad idea for an interim, Ten Haag having his time to evaluate his team as soon as possible, working with the team through summer, getting his budget to get at least 3 quality starters to give the team the spine, will be a different story.

He's a young fresh manager with high reputation, I think he might implement his ideas much quicker than Rangnick.

Don't hold your breath. Soon it will be sack the Hag. Ole is the best manager post SAF.
 only way that happens is if he is not supported by our board. Hopefully, the £200m transfer kitty is true. He should have enough with all the departures that we will be seeing. I expect in his second full season, he will have us challenging for the title.

Would have preferred poch, but excited about ETH as he was my second choice. Any other question for the media?

Ecstatic with the news. I feel sorry for the task he has ahead of him. I’m sure he knows as much as anyone though. It’s clear to everyone how rotten we are as a club right now, so the fact he feels up to task when he could have easily waited for another elite summer job to come free next season is reassuring.

We’ll need to be patient. Not even Pep or Klopp could make us title contenders with this shower of shite. Hopefully we are guided by him and within a couple of years we’ll start challenging again. It’s been a long time since we ever managed to muster a convincing one!

United is a big job yes, but it’s certainly not an attractive one right now. And we’re arguably in a worse position now then we were 30 odd years ago.

Most rational and ambitious appointment Man Utd have made post SAF. I don't envy his working environment, but being so unilaterally popular amongst the fanbase will, hopefully, buy him time to steer us in the right direction. We need nothing less than a revolution. Welcome Erik!

Great news! Hopefully he gets on back on track.

Good luck!

That he's joining us at possibly our lowest ebb since we got relegated in the '70s is a testament to his character. He believes in his ability to do the job, clearly.

I can't wait to see what he can do. Nothing but positive vibes right now

True, fair play to the man. Balls of steel.

One can only hope that he'll be coming into an environment that Rangnick has clearly identified the bigger issues in and that he can get on with coaching while Rangnick sorts the circus. If so, the decision to get Rangnick and wait for ten hag could be a great one
